@yayennings - “Even Us” was challenging for me because of its simple harmonic structure. That might sound confusing but you really have to try to tell a story and get inside the composer’s brain. Luckily, I’ve known Mike since we were at freshman orientation at UNT, playing jams in the lobby of our dorms. I think the drum kit consisted of an empty pizza box and some brushes. Despite requests from our TM, drum kits in the band have evolved and expanded over time 👀 😂. Playing this solo, with this band, was like being a kid in a candy store. Every note I played felt supported. But a kid in a candy store that doesn’t have support at home, must feel overwhelmed. Support each other✌🏽. •

@marcelowoloski - Bardis is what I call my best friend from childhood (who coincidentally is named Marcelo as well). @marcelociecha and I were together all the time as kids and shared each other’s toys. He left Argentina for Canada when we were 5 years old. For me that was a hard time, it was the first moment in my life in which I felt something like that. And the fact that he was going to a new country so far from all his friends was even harder. From that moment I began to wonder how it would be to live in a completely different environment with a different language, rules, people, and landscapes than the ones you grew up with- essentially, how it would be to be an immigrant.
16 years later, music took me to Boston and later to New York, and it was then that I understood what it was to be an immigrant. It is a challenge, and a quite difficult one, especially in these times. But adapting to a new culture and meeting people from other places are among the experiences from which I have learned the most. I am always grateful. I see Bardis more often now that we are close by :)
Our song “Bardis” is available now at the link in our bio.
@chrismbullock - The Euro portion of the Snarky #immigrancetour has taken us to a lot of new places. We’ve been fortunate to make music for lots of new audiences and share in a diverse array of cultures. These experiences remind me of how we’re all connected as global citizens and desire the same things. Here’s to art and music making the world a little smaller each day. See you at a show sometime soon. We look forward to it!
Michael League - One of the most fun things about playing summer festivals in Europe is being reunited with old friends. By a weird stroke of luck, we ended up sharing the stage with two Family Dinner 2 alumni, two nights in a row: @jacobcollier in Portugal and Louis Cole/Genevieve Artadi (@knower_music) in France. We’ll be sharing the stage tonight with @kamasiwashington at @umbriajazz_official! #immigrancetour
