Saygin Yalcin Profile Information

  • I believe, before we proceed to acquire knowledge, we should understand knowledge itself.
There are only 4 types of it. Type 1: Known Knowns. Base your actions on these, but be humble here. We only have degrees of certainty. Type 2: Known Unknowns. This is your greatest potential for progress. Identify those and try to upgrade them to type 1. Type 3: Unknown Unknowns. This is why we always keep alert, innovating and agile. Type 4: Unknown Knowns. Your hidden champions inside your mind or organization. Believe in your capability. There is always potential, which you haven’t realized. Hope to meet you in Berlin in January. Link in bio.

  • I often get asked about future business opportunities.
First of all, any great business solves a pain point in the market.
Moreover, any macro-economic trend is a great wave to ride, any macro-economic disruption, such
as change in laws oftentimes pull open new opportunities. Let’s not get discouraged
by big existing players. The markets are moving organisms with constantly changing pillars you can conquer. Our startup culture needs support, our aspiring entrepreneurs need encouragement. While there were 165 startups per 100K population in 1977, today we hover around 80 - in developed markets that is. The number 1 employer in the world are SMEs - startups and scale-ups. This is where our future wealth creation will be. Be bold. Imagine a future and create it. Start with large industries. Education: Do you believe our children will go to school and learn like we did? Or do you believe tech-supported individualized education combined with dedicated social activities will reduce school time and cost, while increasing output? Logistics: Do you believe we will still use humans and fossil-fueled cars to deliver packages? Or do you believe drone technology will replace and even have consequences on real estate development? Drone accessible buildings (DAB) will likely be a common term in the future. Healthcare: Do you believe the doctor closest to you is the best for your condition? Close to 100% of all patients worldwide do not leave their city for treatment. Or do you believe that real-time doctor’s global knowledge supply and local practical execution will be separated? Is your medical history always going to be locally stored at your doctor’s mercy or your memory? Or will there be a central cloud-based database, linking your condition to peer results and global knowledge at the forefront of science? Hope to see you in Berlin in January. Link in bio.

  • A president and his wife are walking down a random street. They get hungry and stop by a small cafe. The waiter delivers the menu and tells the wife that the owner of this small cafe would like to talk to her. She is surprised to see that it is her ex-boyfriend. The president says “Look, if you would have stayed with him, you would have become the wife of this small shop owner.” She says “If I would have stayed with him, he would have become president!”
Behind every successful person is a strong partner.

  • When we are 4 years old, we say our mothers know everything. At 14 years, “She doesn’t know anything!”. At 18 years old, “She doesn’t know! She is from the old generation”. At 35 years, we say “Let me ask my mum before deciding on this”. At 70, we wish we could ask our mothers for advice. I see we have so-called “Mother’s days”. Every day counts, every day is appreciation day. Apparently, a mother is considered unemployed, if she doesn’t work. Well, I consider it the only job in the world, without any day off. Remember, the only thing you get gifted in life, is itself.

  • What are you focusing on? We all have a certain cognitive bandwidth and a daily mental capacity. 2 hours of peak focus time, another 5h of high focus, rest of the day is spent with medium to low mental energy. I suggest you apply selective focus. Prioritize your energy along the importance/urgency matrix. High importance, high urgency items should be put into your peak focus time. People who misallocate their cognitive bandwidth leave changes to fate, others to diligence.

  • I have been asked many times, if luck plays a role in life. Yes, but what are you doing with each event of luck? I call it the luck conversion rate. While luck is a form of randomness, your readiness is not.

  • In the past few years, I’m so grateful to have built a great social media community with an overwhelmingly positive environment. I used to hear that success and building big followings on social media would come with many haters. Well, I took the challenge and have proven the opposite. SayGang, I am so proud of you fostering positivity and optimism. Rather than focusing on problems, we focus on solutions. Rather than hating, we support each other and are happy for one another’s success. Rather than discouraging, we encourage one another to believe in our visions. Rather than fearing failures, we embrace them as learnings. This is us. #StartupHero #Community #SayGang
