I visited @dumbfriendsleague in Denver today. My brother and sister-in-law have been volunteering with them for about 7 months now. I tagged along during their shift and hung out with some of the cats! Added bonus, Harold, pictured here, went to his forever home today!!!! 🐱🏠Happy adoption day sweet boy!!! #adoptdontshop
Two questions: 1. Is it taboo to wear the shirt of the city you’re going to visit? 🤔 2. Are you guys embarrassed by my travel attire? 🤔🤔 I am flying to Colorado for a few days to visit @blueferrari311 + @janesometimesy. If anyone has any suggestions for vegan restaurants near the Denver area I’m listening!
Some of you may know, I run the Sponsorship Program for Rancho Relaxo. The program allows people to contribute to the care of a specific animal every month. The sponsors are a tremendous help to Rancho Relaxo as they contribute towards the feed, housing, medical expenses and bedding for the animal they sponsor. This community of people are compassionate, loving individuals that I have been lucky enough to build an online friendship with! I have had the opportunity to meet some of them in person when they come to our scheduled visitor days, and we always have a great time! Recently I had the pleasure of meeting one of our newest sponsors, Alissa. She signed up to sponsor Pom Pom, a farm pig that came to us after she was put through grueling laboratory testing. Alissa is such an amazing advocate for animal rights and she uses her social media presence as a platform to highlight this issue while also being the frontwoman for a heavily touring band (her voice is an absolute true force). She was able to find time among her hectic schedule to come hang out with us for the day alongside her partner. He is also a musician whose band helped shape my love for music (no, it’s not Mustard Plug) and who himself is a loud voice against animal cruelty! Thank you Alissa and Doyle for coming to see us, for truly understanding what we do, and why it's important, and for using your influence to raise awareness in this fight for animal liberation!

It’s adoption story time! Eleanora was transferred into Rancho Relaxo's care from @hoiteytoitey after she was brought in to @homewardboundnj as a stray from the local Police Station. She had neurological damage that resulted in a permanent head tilt. Aside from that she wasn't eating, she had ear mites, fleas, maggot eggs, dermatitis, a URI which caused scarring in her eye, she was spinning in circles and she had significant balance problems. Sara reached out to @boochaces and myself to ask if we were willing to take her into our care, which we agreed to do. Despite her rough start she was happy and loving, and simply needed proper veterinary attention. Every day Eleanora got better, even her coordination issues seemed to even out as she adjusted to her condition. When she was ready for adoption our friends @catsburypark made a post about her and within the hour I was contacted by so may people who were drawn in by Eleanora. Catsbury Park has been such a huge advocate for the cats who have come through Rancho Relaxo's small foster program. They have helped us with several cases now and we have found placement for the kittens in our care because of their efforts. I am so thankful to them and for them. 🖤🧡 I had several great applications for Eleanora which made the decision tough, but ultimately she found her forever home with Erica and Mike. Eleanora will have a new cat brother named Binx, and a home with 2 nice people who will provide her with the love and family she deserves. It was a joy to host her while she grew and recovered. As always, it is bittersweet to say goodbye, but that is the point of fostering; to give an animal a fighting chance at a life they deserve. 🐱 From left to right: 1. Nellie Bly vs. some wormies and a URI! My girl has swelling in her stomach, which is most likely due to a parasite. She will be on meds for a few days to combat her stomach issues and a minor URI. 🐱 v. 🦠 I am fostering Nellie through Rancho Relaxo, and you can 📧 me at email@example.com if you want to talk about her! #adoptdontshop #catsofinstagram #fosteringsaveslives
My husband and I are currently rewatching The Office and Drunk History. We legitimately wanted to name our next foster Garbage after the feral cat that Dwight brought into the office as a peace offering to Angela. I do try to be mindful of how people might interpret my references and decided instead to name her Nellie after Nellie Bly, who was so awesome that Drunk History covered her in 2 separate episodes. Nellie was transported to us from our friend @jessiesunflower who sat in terrible bridge traffic from DE to NJ to deliver her (thanks Jessie!!!) I got her cleaned up and will get her vetted, then I’ll have a timeline for adoption! I am fostering her through Rancho Relaxo (@boochaces) and you can reach me by 📧 at firstname.lastname@example.org if you want to chat about Nellie. 🐱 #adoptdontshop #catsofinstagram #fosteringsaveslives
It’s apparently Black Cat Appreciation Day. I appreciate the hell out of this girl, my greatest companion, Sawyer. I fostered her through @homewardboundnj after she was brought it as a stray off the Atlantic City Expressway (how someone found her there I will never know)! I dropped her off for an adoption event once she was ready and bawled my eyes out. I had a connection to her that felt stronger than any I had experienced before her. When @hoiteytoitey sent me a photo of her still in the cage at the end of the day (with subliminal messages from a creepy clown 🤡), I knew I was going to adopt her. Black cats have the unfortunate reputation for being bad luck in folklore differing from culture to culture. These superstitions are often the reason it’s more difficult to find homes for black cats in shelters. I have personally always gravitated towards, and have had a soft spot for black cats. Maybe because of their association with the macabre, and definitely despite it. I love this spooky little witch. Happy Black Cat Appreciation Day DJ Soy Sauce!!!
Spay day for Eleanora! It’s time to find her a home of her very own! ❤️Please read this entire message if you feel you have any potential interest❤️
Eleanora is 12 weeks old (ish)! She has neurological damage which caused a permanent head tilt and resulted in coordination problems. She also has scarring in her left eye, a residual effect of a URI she had upon her initial veterinary exam. I would not consider her condition to be a significant hindrance to her daily life, and she does not necessarily require special care. She's a little messy when she eats, and she walks in a diagonal instead of in a straight line. Her depth perception is slightly impaired so she is very strategic in how she climbs, and especially how she descends from heights. Otherwise she is a healthy, well functioning kitten.
Eleanora needs to go to a home with another cat who has the energy for a kitten. She is incredibly social, and loves to be around people, but she especially thrives on her interactions with my home field cat mascot Sawyer.
Eleanora is currently located in central New Jersey. We are looking for adopters who live within two hours driving distance. If you are interested, I would be so happy to tell you more about her and discuss the adoption process. You can email me at email@example.com.
Fostering is radical! ⚡️Eleanora is my current guest through Rancho Relaxo and will be available for adoption soon! You can 📧 me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Now, about this photo... I was trying to think of fun ways to photograph kittens. I used to make things out of construction paper all the time. I would get an idea and before I knew it I’d have a Popple mask or a bouquet of balloons made entirely out of paper. I once made cotton candy, french fries with vinegar, a plate of funnel cake, AND the zipper (who can guess what that theme was?) ! I created She-Ra’s hair and He-Man’s shield just to take a photo with my brother on Christmas ! All of this created from paper made by me, someone who has never had artistic proclivities. It was fun and would make my photographs colorful (since my sense of fashion has always gravitated toward the drab grays). I don’t know why I stopped doing it. So today I decided to cut out some shapes, throw a scrunchie in my hair, take a photo, filter the crap out of it to look as neon as possible, and bring Eleanora to the 1980s with me! Like, totally.
Eleanora takes a break from being cute to spend some time still being cute. Weighing in at 2.2 lbs today this little lady is ready for a spay and shortly a home! She has some neurological damage, but aside from her head tilt and offbeat swagger, it is barely a hinderance to her life. If you’re interested in talking about Eleanora, please 📧 me at email@example.com!
Oh Eleanora. You perfect mess. There are a few things going on with her: she has some neurological damage, which we suspected. This is what is causing her head tilt. The vet said it may even be a mild case of CH, an underdeveloped cerebellum from birth, which causes her some balance and coordination problems. She is still fighting off a URI and got another round of treatment which she will be on for a few days. The URI is what most likely caused her ocular scarring. She was being treated for ear mites which she was clear from today so I can cease the ear drops which were making her super oily. She also has a small area of dermatitis by her ear which was exacerbated by her scratching at it. Despite her hot messness she is super loving and playful, and does not seem to be affected by what ails her. Once she is spayed and clear from her current symptoms, she will be available for adoption through Rancho Relaxo.
You can 📧 me at firstname.lastname@example.org for information regarding Eleanora.
You can also make a tax deductible donation to Rancho Relaxo (all information is in @boochaces bio) which will help with the veterinary costs for both Eleanora, as well as the other animals in Rancho Relaxo’s care. 🖤🐱🦃🐔🐷🐮🐴🦙🐑
