Laura Browning Grant Profile Information

  • This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Every time I began to ponder what to share on this day—the 2-year anniversary of the day that Jon was injured as a passenger in a car accident—this quote would repeat in my head.

Today is not a day for sadness. It is a day for celebration. A day marked by hope, possibility, surrender, trust, faith, miracles and gratitude.

I am grateful to still have my husband with me. I am thankful for each and every person that has been a part of our journey along the way. There isn’t enough space to name everyone, but please know that each and every one of YOU I would name. You have played a critical role in our journey, with your prayers for Jon, and your loving support of me. I am immensely grateful for you.

This video was tough to put together, as there is so much that has happened in the last two years. It is hard to capture it in words or in pictures. But I felt pulled to share more from the beginning of the two years, as it is the truest reflection of how far Jon has come.

God can move mountains. Today, let us rejoice in that. All my love, Laura.

  • As we are creeping up on the 2-year mark since Jon’s accident, I have been reflecting back on how far Jon has come. To think that more progress has been made in the last 8 weeks (or even 4!) than in the almost two years prior is nothing short of a miracle. Especially considering that the medical experts warned us that healing is less likely the more time passes.
As always, God takes the unlikely and makes it likely. The impossible to possible.
One thing I really want to share with you all is the offer I made to God when Jon was first injured. I made it clear to God that if it is His will to keep Jon alive, I would do my part, no matter how much he recovered. If Jon’s physical state didn’t improve, and he stayed that way for the rest of his life, I would love him the same. I simply surrendered to “the now,” and gave space for God to control the future.
In the days of darkness, of which there were many, God gave me the peace, comfort, and knowledge that those days would be less and less. Jon and I were on a journey with God, and He was steering the ship. He continues to, and we continue to marvel at His ways. We don’t control; we just cooperate.
Here is a video from our early days. What I love about it is that on that day — April 15, 2017 — less than one month after his accident, his fight is just as present as it is on day 728. That is my navy seal, my Godly man, my love. Here’s to the next chapter.

  • I normally don’t want to update too much, but God is in motion and the changes are coming fast. Since you have been on our journey—most of you from the beginning—you deserve to see it all in real time as we do!

Jon amazes me everyday...to think this arm hasn’t moved coming up on 2 years this weekend and look at what just started happening the past few weeks.
I leave you all with this. NEVER lose hope but more than that NEVER lose Faith. Our God is BIG. Anything is possible through the One who created everything.

Healing tips:
1. Love. Love Heals.
Every soul desires to love and be loved.
2. Peace. Silence. Stillness. Rest. Restore. A clear environment free of negative energy, chatter, technology, and outside noise & stress.
3. Surrender to letting go of the fear of what is to come and live in the here and now.
4. Light, sunshine, and the color blue.
5. Less is more.
6. Patience with the process: putting no time limit on anything.
7. Trust, believe and create healing.
8. Keep yourself open to all possibilities.
9. Know when to say no.
10. Love more.

  • And this happened today... To many this might seem like an easy task, but to someone with the injury like Jon’s this is nothing short of a miracle.
1. comprehended what he read.
2. processed what he read & came up with an answer.
3. communicated the answer perfectly in writing.

  • And so the journey continues.... It amazes me how God plans our lives out, and no stone is left unturned. The key is to surrender, to be open to every detail, and give God the space to do His work. In the world today, so many want to control, fix, force, plan, or carry the burden of life. But true peace and clarity come from surrendering—from allowing God to take center stage.

We have begun the next step in the healing process...the year of transformation. We are continuing to use the tools given to us thus far, where applicable, but always remain open to the curves and turns of God’s road. We trust that we aren’t backtracking when redirected, but upgrading. Recently we were led to HBOT and Neuro-Optometry. Both of these blessings were orchestrated by God at the perfect time, and he used his trusted believers on Earth to guide us.

I am always reminded that God is the ultimate doctor and conductor. Lean on him! He will provide! He knows YOU ALL as well as he knows Jon and me. He knows of your situation, your needs, your finances, and your worries. He is not limited by the Earthly things that limit you. He can open any door and blaze any trail. It is our duty to give that space to Him.

Here is a video showing the next phase of our journey. Thank you for sharing it with us.

  • I can’t make this up....
If you look back to what I posted yesterday I ended with “Jon is going to breakthrough this barrier and we all better be ready because I have a feeling Jon has some powerful things to say!!” Tonight Jon said...for the concept .. then followed with jargon. Then said...we might know that... then more jargon. So I wrote down what I heard. Gave him the pen and he wrote “to love.” #powerful #staystrongjonnygrant

  • God has laid it on my heart to stay raw & continue to not just show the victories but keep real to the struggles & suffering. Because as we all know, through the pain we grow.
One common question I get asked is: Has Jon’s personality changed? Is Jon still the man you married? Deep/honest questions. First and foremost Jon is still Jon. The tricky part in our situation is the overlying obstacle of aphasia. Does Jon remember life before the accident? Does Jon remember you? Does Jon know what happened to him? And I whole heartedly wish I could give you his answer but, that’s just it, Jon can not consistently communicate. That’s the part I feel is hard to portray on Instagram. The daily struggle of not being able to communicate. Sadly sometime it’s just a guessing game. Sometimes we get a thumbs up or down. Sometimes we get a head shake. But most of the time what comes out is yes yes yes. Perseveration of “yes.” Jon has thoughts, Jon has the answer, but what comes out is not what he means to say. So, that adds another whole layer to his struggles. Frustration. Can you imagine? I can’t. This is one reason I felt so connected to the book Behind Locked Doors. When @p.l._seawright approached me to be a part of the making of this movie @b_l_d_film I couldn’t say no. The main character’s experiences are very similar to Jon’s struggles. Even though Jon’s aphasia is more severe, the book does give you a glimpse of his reality.
All that being said, I know, without a doubt God’s timing is everything. Even though Jon has been facing almost 2 years of not being able to communicate, God has a purpose. Jon is going to breakthrough this barrier and we all better be ready because I have a feeling Jon has some powerful things to say!!

  • One thing I have learned and believe is that the environment around us plays a HUGE role in the mind & body’s ability to heal.
I have many things I want to say about this topic from our journey, but one thing in particular I feel is key, is the less outside noise (noise, stimulation, distractions, chaos, negative energy, stress, etc.) the more the body is able to heal. Peacefulness, calmness, positivity, love, stillness, etc. is so important! Outside noise/stress takes away from the energy to heal.
Many have suggested I watch the movie Heal. (@healdocumentary) I had a chance to watch it today and I have to tell you all...this movie is a MUST watch! A lot of what is shared in this movie has been a key part of our journey. I highly recommend you take the time to watch this movie. If you have watched it please let me know what you think.
