  • BUSY WEEK⁣
⁣
I’ve got lots of various hospital appointments this week. ⁣
⁣
My pain is still debilitating and preventing me from living a normal life. Today was particularly challenging for me. When I’m in such discomfort it prevents me from eating and sometimes socialising too.⁣
⁣
I am fortunate to have friends that live locally, so they are able to come over when I’m not feeling up to journeying outside the comfort of my own home.⁣

  • Real Friends⁣
⁣
I’ve experienced this a lot with people recently. They are there for you 1 week then vanish for 3 weeks. ⁣
⁣
I know that everyone has their own problems to deal with and their own priorities; however, real friends don’t pop up once in a while. During bad times they should be there for you consistently. ⁣
⁣
During your darkest times it’s very easy to find out who is REALLY there for you. No one is ever TOO busy for anything. It’s all about priorities. ⁣
⁣
However the most important thing is not to dwell on this or hold grudges, as it is essential to keep negative energy out of your life.

  • Not Much To Say⁣
⁣
I’ve got a busy week next week with lots of hospital visits.⁣
⁣
Just trying to get on with my life. I felt OK so I managed to get out the house for lunch and a little walk, which was really nice.⁣

  • Getting On With It⁣
⁣
Pain is still pretty horrific, but very slowly I am starting to manage it. My nights are still extremely difficult. ⁣
⁣
It would be very easy to stay in bed all day and sleep; however, I know that I need to force myself to get out so that I can regain my quality of life.⁣
⁣
Hopefully the pain dissipates soon so I can start living by the week instead of by the hour!⁣
⁣
An incredible 13.5k has now been raised for the @royalmarsden thanks to @je_ldnm head shave!! Thank you for the incredible support on my YouTube video/channel. Also in general, thank you for all the messages of support. ❤️❤️⁣

Wow!!⁣
⁣
I set up this Instagram page in October 2017 with the intention to use it to document my journey whilst also keeping close friends and family up to date with my progress. ⁣
⁣
Strangely enough, I find writing post captions and expressing my feelings very therapeutic. I guess this is a form of therapy for myself.⁣
⁣
I NEVER had the intention to ‘grow’ this platform, but I am so grateful that it has. Connecting with hundreds of other cancer patients and survivors has been invaluable throughout my journey, and being able to access true, honest advice about certain aspects of the ‘cancer journey’. ⁣
⁣
In general I have connected with some incredible people, and the support I receive from all of you on a daily basis is absolutely insane! You keep me going!! Thank YOU, I am #blessed.⁣
⁣
Through this account, my faith in humanity has been restored.⁣
⁣
Thank you so much to @everincreasingcircles @bensansomuk for the incredible video.

Positive vibes only 💪⁣

  • Feeling More Human⁣
⁣
I had an absolutely horrific night of pain again unfortunately. I’m not sure why this occurs, but every day from 10pm onwards my pain seems to surge until the point where I am almost screaming in discomfort. ⁣
⁣
Excluding the incredible head shave the other night, I got out for the first time! It sounds so trivial, but it was so fulfilling just going out for lunch with a friend. Every day that passes, I feel slightly more and more human again. ⁣
⁣
I know this journey is going to be a long one, and it’s definitely not going to be easy (as evidenced so far) but thankfully I have the most amazing support network around me, both physically and virtually. I truly feel blessed that I have all of you rooting for me.⁣
⁣
By the way, I am setting up a #YouTube channel! ⁣
⁣
I have been debating whether to do this for a while. Unfortunately health has been a preventative factor; however, as I’ve said myself, there is NEVER a perfect time for anything. So i’m just going to do it. I have absolutely nothing to lose.⁣
⁣
If you haven’t yet, please donate to @je_ldnm head shave. We have smashed the 5k target for the @royalmarsden, and have now raised over 10k!😱🎉 Later, go check out @tge_ldnm video from the #headshave. ⁣

TOUGH MONTH⁣
⁣
The past month has been extremely tough for me. Since getting the bad news that the previous chemotherapy drugs weren’t working (and the cancer was spreading), I have struggled.⁣
⁣
I have truly felt like a ‘cancer patient’. I have always made the effort to try and lead a ‘normal’ life during treatment - going to the gym, socialising, and in general just enjoying life!⁣
⁣
I have been unable to do this due to the fact that unfortunately over the past 3 weeks I have been in and out of hospital with complications. It has worn me down both physically and emotionally. ⁣
⁣
I have always told myself to accept the bad days, and appreciate the good days; however, it’s a lot more difficult when most of the days are ‘bad days’.⁣
⁣
I hope I am now on the up. Hopefully I will be able to stay out of hospital, and the treatment will start doing its job on the fucking cancer!⁣
⁣

PART 2 - Head Shave⁣

⁣
@je_ldnm - What a legend!! Going BALD in support of his late father, @royalmarsden and I. He got me into fitness in 2014, but we didn’t meet until last summer. I am honoured to call you a friend. Thank you.⁣ @tge_ldnm thank you too for all the car crew!
⁣
Wow, what an amazing event, the energy was amazing! It was great meeting so many new people. Thank you everyone for the support.⁣

What a day! CT scan this morning was good, the drain was a success! My tube was removed and I’ll be going home tomorrow morning.⁣
⁣
Following on from this, @paulpogba came to visit me of his own accord. I’ve met him a few times through my brother. He is one of the biggest sports personalities in the world, yet he is also one of the most humble and thoughtful people I’ve ever met. ⁣

  • Lung⁣
⁣
Since being at The Royal Brompton, day by day my lung has slowly improved enabling to me to breath a lot better. It’s been tough having chemo alongside this treatment, but I guess I’ve killed two birds with one stone.⁣
⁣
Tomorrow I’m seeing my surgeon again, and having another scan to confirm whether the drain can be removed. ⁣
⁣
I’m desperate to get this tube out my lung (and all the other wires out my arm) so I can stand straight and be fully mobile!⁣
⁣
Hopefully the chemo will do it’s job and keep the fluid out of my lung and all being well I’ll be back home in a few days. ⁣
⁣
Thank you everyone again for all the messages. It’s hard to reply as it’s gone a bit crazy but I really do appreciate you all.⁣

  • Chemo + Drain⁣
⁣
Not in a condition to write a long caption.⁣
⁣
Since being moved next door to the Royal Brompton I’ve had another (larger) drain fitted through my chest into my lung to try and remove the fluid.⁣
⁣
So far so good. They can now see my lung on the x-ray (previously hidden by the fluid). I’m breathing better now, but i’m in a lot of pain. Very drugged up thanks to my PCA (I press a button to give me a hit of oxycodone). ⁣
⁣
I also started chemotherapy the other day. Having to deal with chemotherapy side effects on top of this drain in my lung is challenging to say the least. Hopefully drain out soon and home time in next few days. 🙏⁣
⁣
Thanks brother @sammorgan for visiting and giving me a signed @m10_official shirt.⁣

  • A Week To Forget ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I am still in hospital. 3L of fluid was drained from my lung. We discovered that the fluid was red because it was caused by the tumours bleeding into my lung. This is also why my red blood count has been dropping.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
They removed the drain from my lung this afternoon as my oncologist believed that it is important to start chemotherapy tomorrow (and we can’t start until my drain has been removed). As they removed the drain, I started bleeding everywhere and suddenly I had about 5 doctors and nurses in the room rushing around trying to get everything under control. Fortunately there were no further complications.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I’m currently having another blood transfusion to help boost my red blood count again. I’ve also just had another X-Ray to check the amount of fluid in my lung, and unfortunately it is still full. The doctor came back and said she was surprised that I could breathe so well considering the quantity of fluid in my lung!⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I am now being moved to the main hospital so they can monitor me over night. Now I have no idea whether I will be starting chemotherapy tomorrow or whether I will have another tube inserted to re-drain the fluid. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Right now I am taking everything hour by hour, as my condition is extremely unpredictable at the moment.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
By the way I’ll hopefully be shaving this guys head (@je_ldnm) for the @royalmarsden next Thursday 9th May, 7:30pm at Belgrave Square. Everyone is invited! Justgiving page in bio.⁣
⁣
Thank you everyone for your continued support.⁣⁣

  • Worst day ⁣
⁣
Currently lying in my hospital bed unable to move. Got rushed to hospital this morning with a high temp. My pain has also been excruciating (10/10). I’ve never experienced anything like this.⁣
⁣
I’m having a blood transfusion because my haemoglobin is low. I’ve also had a tube inserted through my back into my lung so that the fluid can be drained over the course of the next few days. I’ll be in hospital for a good few days. Unsurprisingly I didn’t have chemo today.⁣
⁣
I’ve seen the pain management team and they have switched me from morphine to oxycodone. Hopefully the new drugs will work, as currently I can’t even turn over or sit up in bed. I am literally ‘bed bound’.⁣
⁣
Shit gets worse before it gets better 💪⁣
