  • For third-year veteran and captain, @tamarakovalchukk, the ability to create through dance stems as much from her talent as it does from her journey to becoming a professional performer. Tamara was always fond of performing for family and friends and choreographing original numbers. Throughout her dance training she realized this was more than a hobby, but rather her purpose. To pursue a career as a professional dancer, Tamara drew on her creativity to craft new material as well as starting a new life wherever dance took her. Her career began in Argentina where she was certified as a ballet and jazz instructor and later awarded a scholarship in musical theatre by the foundation of Julio Bocca, one of Argentina’s most distinguished dancers. In 2011, Tamara earned a scholarship to a summer dance program at Point Park University in Pittsburgh. Three years later, she relocated from Argentina to Mexico to work with Latin artist Juan Gabriel while performing and choreographing for commercials, musicals, concerts, and TV shows. She then earned a scholarship to the Joffrey Ballet School’s summer program in Miami in 2016, and thereafter was selected as a Miami Dolphins Cheerleader. To date, Tamara has performed with artists including J. Balvin, Belinda, Liam Payne, Marc Anthony, Pimpinela, Diego Torres, and Guns N’ Roses. Inspired by the many new beginnings she has experienced– across four cities and three countries, Tamara aims to recreate new beginnings in every routine she choreographs, each with new emotions, stories, and messages to share with audiences. Her innovation as a performer is marked by her fluidity in adapting to various dance styles, different worlds, and opportunities. While Tamara’s journey to become a professional dancer has been no easy feat, challenges fuel her creativity. Tamara has gained a sense of fearlessness about following her calling and starting anew, knowing it is possible to recreate oneself and one’s art for the better each time.
