Happy “Labor Day!” 😉 Does anyone care to share your favorite birth story? Or maybe give a special shoutout to your favorite birth worker?
This photo is from my labor (mid-contraction) with Everly, six months ago. I cherish it for a lot of reasons, but mainly because when I look at it I see both strength and surrender.
Most of you already know how redemptive Everly’s home birth was for me, but her birth was only one of five very unique experiences that I had bringing my children into the world.
I’m curious what birth taught you the most about yourself, and why?

Proud momma alert! I don’t share much of my personal passion (aka horses) on social media, but my “big baby,” Encore, just spent the last two weeks in San Diego competing in the Young Jumper Championship West Coast finals, and to say she blew our expectations is an understatement.
Competing against the top 5 year old young jumpers that the west coast has to offer... Jumping the highest she’s ever jumped in her life (1.20 meters) Encore gave this week her ALL!
Round 1/Day 1: She won 1st place with a clear round/zero faults along with 5 others who went clear out the top 10!
Round 2/Day 2: She won 1st place again with zero faults and the FASTEST clear round with only 3 others going fault-free.
And today, Round 3/Day 3: She had two unfortunate rails (8 faults), but she still finished the championship tied for 5th place!
Why is any of this a big deal? Well, just like humans, horses have mental and physical hangups when it comes to performance, and achieving goals too!
Encore is not an easy horse to manage. She’s notoriously smart, and wickedly athletic, but she’s so high strung it is often difficult to figure out how to balance her temperament day to day training at home, let alone away in a strange environment with 800+ other horses all crammed into the same show ground.
Despite all of this, and being the absolute underdog in a field comprised of the upper echelon of show jumping’s finest young horses. Despite being an absolute wreck with anxiety (seriously, she gave herself ulcers!), and being completely un-ridable the first week she was at the show grounds... Encore pulled herself together when it mattered the MOST!
She proved she deserve to be out there, she showed up and gave it her all. She absolutely jumped out of her skin, and believe you me, she turned quiet a few heads this week in the process!
Even if you aren’t a horse person, I hope the next time you are questioning whether or not you deserve to “show up,” or the next time you find yourself questioning whether or not you deserve to be known, seen, or heard... you remember Encore, and you GET IN THE RING! 🥰
What are your initial thoughts when you hear the phrase “girl power?”
For me the mental imagery encompasses women of all different ages, life experiences, cultures, ethnic backgrounds, weights, shapes, sizes, etc. coming together to empower each other over one simple communality ... WE ARE FEMALE, hear us ROAR!
Over the last 7 years since founding this BBM community I have to say the single most profound bit of KNOWLEDGE that I have gained is surrounding the knowledge of the singular positive impact I am capable of having on another women’s life, every single day!
With that in mind, if you are a women and there is ANY personal advice that you choose to digest today, I hope it is this:
There is absolutely NOTHING more EMPOWERING or MEANINGFUL than finding a TRIBE of women who supports, uplifts, and/or INSPIRES YOU!
This is coming from a women who was previously married for ten years, divorced, re-found love and has lived/co-parented FIVE BABIES (24/7) with her soul mate for the last 6 years, and who is grateful for his unconditional love, passion, encouragement, and companionship EVERY. SINGLE. ****ING. DAY.
FIND YOUR TRIBE.
Find women will listen without judgement when you are lost, empower you when you are weak, help you find the strength in your voice when you falter, and celebrate you when you are strong!
If you don’t have this type of everyday support in your life, I’VE GOT YOU.
It is the #1 reason my VIP INNER CIRCLE was created, and I encourage ALL WOMEN to give it a go TODAY!
If you are currently a BBM VIP INNER CIRCLE member, what is the #1 reason you love VIP?

Yesterday this girl of mine turned 19 and all I can say is time is a THEIF. I feel like just yesterday she was Arwyn’s age and suddenly I’ve blinked and she’s grown. 😖
Monday she starts her freshman year of college. COLLEGE GUYS! Like how is that even possible?!?! Ugh. 🤦🏼♀️
As bittersweet as this whole growing up thing is, my momma heart is bursting with pride over what a good human and confident young woman Tristen has become. She has a good head on her shoulders, and that’s all you can pray for as a parent.
That and pray you’ve done your job well enough that when the time comes, you’ve inspired them to find their own wings so they can soar. ✈️
That's a WRAP, my 8th FREE 90 DAY CHALLENGE is complete!
DAY ONE of this challenge was literally my first official postpartum workout after giving birth to my fifth child... but unless you were in my VIP INNER CIRCLE, you really wouldn't have had any idea about the tremendous fear, and crippling anxiety that almost made me bow out of the challenge with my tail between my legs before I even got started.
Looking back on the last 90 days, out of all that I accomplished, I am the most proud of my mental strength and fortitude.
Yes, I started this challenge medically "OBESE" but if you have actually been doing this challenge every day with me, in real time, then you already know that this 90 Day Challenge was about so much more (FOR ME) than "weight loss."
For me, this challenge was about self-love, health, and happiness.... regardless of my weight, shape, or size.
This challenge was about re-connecting with my body and proving to myself that even though I was the heaviest I'd ever been in a postpartum season, I was still HELLA capable of getting fit and strong.
This challenge was about mental strength, and determination. Determination to show up everyday and prove to myself that whilst my body might look and feel foreign ... it was still capable and deserving of love and admiration.
This challenge was about embracing vulnerability and challenging myself everyday to put myself online so that I might have an opportunity to inspire other women somewhere in the world to do the same.
This challenge was about CHANGE. No, not changing my body. Changing peoples perceptions about what types of bodies deserve to have a seat at the health and fitness table.
And lastly, this challenge was about encouragement. Encouraging others to put their shoes on, even if they didn't feel like they were worthy of pushing PLAY.
Oh, and yes... for those who miss the point of this post completely and still feel the need to ask... "BUT DID YOU LOSE WEIGHT?"
YES. In addition to achieving all the goals listed above ... I also happened to lose 9.5 pounds, and 10 inches overall. (Continued below...)
If you need me, I’ll be right here. 🐥💕
ZOOM IN ON MY STOMACH. Go ahead, do it.
Does what you see disgust you? Does it empower you? Does it make you feel normal?
Five months ago I gave birth to my 5th child and my stomach (as well as the rest of my body) is still holding onto nearly every postpartum pound, but you know what?
It doesn’t matter.
If the scale were the only barometer for health then I would have given up by now. Instead, I have worked out almost every day for the last 78 days and I know unequivocally that I am a healthier version of ME than when I first started, and that’s ALL that matters.
So if you choose to zoom in on my roll-poly, cellulite covered stomach. If you choose to zoom in on my thick arms, and chunky thighs.... Then I hope you also take a moment to challenge the stigmas society has made you feel about those things.
And then, while you are there in that uncomfortable place of feeling all those feelings, I hope you find a place to appreciate that a woman can have all those physical attributes and she can still be BEAUTIFUL, HEALTHY, and STRONG AF. (Yes, she can be those things even if her body is not your goal, or better yet...your worst nightmare.)
Diversity is what makes this world interesting and inspiring! Embrace it.
If something makes you uncomfortable, challenge it!
There’s no growth without change, so help me. Help me change society’s beliefs about body-image. Help me by showing up in your own life, exactly as you are. Don’t wait until you fit a mould you were lead to believe would make you more worthy.
Thick or thin, short or tall, stretch marks or no-marks, roll-poly stomach or 6-pack abs, we are all worthy of showing up, exactly as we are... ❤️ #SelfLoveIsntASize
“We who live in quiet places have the opportunity to become acquainted with ourselves, to think our own thoughts and live our own lives in a way that is not possible for those keeping up with the crowd.” - Laura Ingalls Wilder
We’re quickly discovering the truth in Laura’s words ova’ here 👋🏻!
Loving our new home and rural life out in the country where unplugging from technology for walks together like this as a family are quickly becoming a regular thing!
No, rural living isn’t for everyone... but next time you are feeling overwhelmed and stretched a little thin, I highly recommend a walk down a country road to soothe your soul. 🌾
“I’ve hated this woman. I’ve not loved her at full capacity. I’ve fed her lies and told her she wasn’t good enough. I have allowed others to tell her she wasn't good enough as well. I’ve allowed her to be broken. I've allowed others to treat her disrespectfully.
I’ve allowed her to run through brick walls and battle for others who wouldn’t stand up for her. I couldn’t stop individuals from abandoning her, yet I’ve seen her get up and stand to be a light to the world and love others despite it all.
This woman has screwed up many times, as a wife, mother, daughter, and as a friend. She doesn’t always say or do the "right things". She has a smart mouth, and she has secrets. She has scars... because she has a history.
Some people love this woman, some like her, and many people don't care for her at all.
Sometimes she goes days without makeup, and/or shaving her legs. Sometimes she is random, short-tempered, annoying, and forgetful. Sometimes she is silly, sexy, loving, and strong. The one thing she will never pretend to be is someone she is not. She is who she is.
Every mistake, failure, trial, disappointment, success, joy, and achievement has made her the woman she is today.
You can love her, or not. But if she loves you, she will do it with her whole heart, and she will make no apologies for the way she is.
This Woman is a WARRIOR. She’s not perfect but God calls her WORTHY! She’s UNSTOPPABLE. Gracefully broken but beautifully standing. She is loved. She is life. She is transformation. She is Grace. She is BRAVE!”
...I saw this post circulating on Facebook and felt a calling to share it with the BBM Community since I know it will resonate with so many others. Ladies, I encourage you to use this caption with a picture of yourself in a post on a social media if you are equally proud to be who you are. ❤️
Yep, we are in the process of trading in our heated pool and suburban home at the end of a cul-de-sac for a cold garden hose in the country, but the kids (and the dog) don’t seem to miss it one bit! ☀️💦
