  • October US West Coast Tour! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Bobbie Gentry is the master at being able to sing a story from all directions at once. Stories of hard-won, old-world sinister sweetness with a subtlety and precision no other songwriter has. When Mercury Rev asked me to come and sing the entire record with them live, I had to take a breath before I dove straight in. This is a dream collaboration. No one can touch what Bobbie Gentry is capable of unearthing, but on their version of ‘The Delta Sweete’ Mercury Rev have grown Bobbie’s music into a psychedelic cathedral of sound, and to be a part of making that come to life in a live setting is awesome and I’m honoured to be involved.
I will be performing the record in its entirety with Mercury Rev @themercuryrev on all dates listed below.
10/1 – Solana Beach, CA – Belly Up
10/2 – Pioneertown, CA - Pappy & Harriet’s
10/3 Los Angeles, CA – The Palace Theater
10/7 Portland, OR – Aladdin Theater
10/9 Seattle, WA – Neptune Theater

  • I have joined with music declares emergency along with colleagues throughout the music industry as a force to find solutions to the global climate emergency we are facing. While music can bring great happiness and healing to the people in world, how we go about travelling (for example) to get that music heard hurts our planet. We want to come together to find solutions that lesson any negative impact our industry might have on our beautiful earth. To find out more go to www.musicdeclares.net #musicdeclaresemergency

  • Just coming home from the most incredible night out under a London sky after dancing in Marble Arch to the brilliant Massive Attack sound system. Everyone there together in love and for the good of our planet. Like some post apocalyptic utopia it felt better than I could have imagined. Greta Thunberg spoke as a huge orange sun went down behind her. Her voice and her message clear as a bell. I am in absolute awe at what the people organising and supporting Extinction Rebellion are doing. It’s incredible to witness up close. My family were tired and left early but I had to stay and stood talking and dancing with complete strangers and I have never felt so safe in the middle of London in a massive crowd at night. My faith in human nature restored as I heard again and again that we can only make the change nature needs us to make together. The wealth of kindness and tolerance I witnessed between people made me weep. Mostly though, I was smiling the biggest smile to be with so many people that seem to actually care. Tomorrow night I’m going to sing some songs with my better half Sam Amidon and hope that I can give back just a little to the people who are giving their time and energy in putting together this vital expression of peaceful rebellion in the hopes of awakening in all of us the need for change. Thank you for the incredible movement you are creating. #extinctionrebellion #grerathunberg #massiveattack #wearehereforallofus #climate change #thisisradioclash

  • Pass in time with Terry Callier. Meeting Terry and then making music and singing with him was when I started to truly believe in magic. I heard Dancing Girl and I was gone and then the New Folk Sound and I was taken. I saw Terry play at the jazz cafe around ‘97 as a surprise gift from my friend to me... At that time I never really thought about my idols actually existing beyond their music. I was ecstatic throughout the gig, a smile so wide and my heart ready to burst. THEN we met Terry after the show!!! His manager suggested I sing him a song. I sang him Pass in Time on his guitar and he uummmed along and the next thing then we went and recorded it!! I found it all a bit bloody overwhelming and was always pinching myself at what was occurring.. The first time we performed live together I suddenly realised what we were about to do and I froze in that moment of realisation standing in front of the audience. Like forgetting how to breath I whispered to Terry “how do we do this?!” And he smiled and whispered back ”your gonna try and sound like me and I’m gonna try and sound like you” and then he held my hand and we were off. It was the most beautiful trip of my life. #terrycallier #passintime #centralreservation #20years #leanonme #dancinggirl #ordinaryjoe #yougoinmissyourcandyman #newfolksoundofterrycallier #whatcolourislove 🙏🏻💕🙏🏻💕🙏🏻💕🙏🏻💕🙏🏻💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕📸@Ellen Nolan
