  • My dear friends, I’m so sorry to have had to cancel several shows for health reasons. It’s not a decision that was taken lightly and I’ve been somewhat heartbroken about it. I’m gutted not to be playing in my dear Nils Frahm’s festival tonight in Hamburg, or at Bonaroo next week, amongst others shows. At present I’m spending hanging with the kids and gearing up for major surgery. I hope I have your understanding and blessings. With love x

  • Happy birthday fellow Gemini’s! Heading out to a mini birthday dinner. Feeling grateful to know myself more and more with every year- to know that this year I need quiet and space to reflect rather than dance the night away (which was certainly fabulous last year and will be again I’m sure!) thanks to all my loved ones for being in my life and sharing this path. And on another note thank you to dear @alicetemperley for this perfect birthday dress. #loveisintheair #birthdaygirl #gemini #gratitude #love

  • It’s not normal for me to take two days to find words for something. But I’m still struggling to find words to explain the transcendence of Sunday’s show. The joy and symbolism of a Western orchestra, choir, and Indian ensemble making music together. Playing my father and Philip Glass’s music. Sitting in the middle of a stage and feeling the music move through my body and spirit: music I’ve loved since I was nine years old watching it recorded in the studio. I felt my father’s presence at the Philharmonie de Paris, in a city he loved his whole life. I felt the audience’s deep love for the music and was overwhelmed by the twenty minute ovation. I went into a state of meditation in the pieces I wasn’t paying in, feeling so connected to the whole room that I could just close my eyes on stage in front of thousands of people and feel utterly safe and present. Passages is, to my mind, one of the most perfect and beautiful albums ever made, and I will be forever grateful for the experience of playing it live, and to all the musicians and our inimitable conductor Karen Kamensek for bringing it to life with me.

  • Tonight Boston, tomorrow New York. But first: I need to say thank you to Montreal. I needed you last night. I can’t thank you deeply enough for the love you gave us from the moment we walked onstage. You fed my soul and held me in your arms on a night I really needed it. Just hours before the show I was talking to a friend saying ‘I can’t do tonight, I’m in pieces. I don’t know how to find anything within me with which to play a show for people.’ I was near tears from exhaustion. And then by some alchemy- all due to you Montreal- I felt I played some of my best music last night. Where does that come from? I can say truthfully that I felt I played beautifully, because it wasn’t about me. There was something happening between us all- my musicians, the audience, myself and the music. And you reminded me, on a night I needed reminding, exactly what I love about playing music. What a gift of alchemy and connection we have available to each of us, in the act of making and partaking in music. Merci. 🙏🏽
