  • “Einstein proved that the energy in any particle of matter is equal to its mass or weight multiplied by the square of the velocity of light. •

Light velocity is a mathematical standard or constant not because there is an absolute value in 186,300 miles a second, but because no material body, whose mass increases with its velocity, can ever attain the velocity of light. •

Stated another way: only a material body whose mass is infinite could equal the velocity of light. •
The consciousness of a perfected yogi is effortlessly identified not with the narrow body but with the universal structure .... subject no longer to the rigidities of a body in time and space... •

A yogi sees the universe as an essentially undifferentiated mass of light. “

  • I’m lucky enough to have a job I love and a life I’m very happy with so I don’t often feel the need to escape on holiday. We got the opportunity for a week away and I didn’t realise how much we all needed it! It’s unbelievable how much difference it has made to my state of mind!
.
Despite the grey clouds in the photo we had a lot of sun and I stocked up on plenty of vitamin D. I didn’t wear shoes for a week. I ran and got some early morning yoga in. I swam everyday. Afternoon naps, plenty of fruit and veg, limited phone time, no work and no TV. Loads of baguettes and plenty of cake. Precious family time.
.
I’ve got a lot on trying to be a good Dad, a good husband and a good therapist. I can’t give what I haven’t got and this break was a well timed reminder that I need to give the best version of myself to the people that need me, I have to take the time to recharge every now and again.
.
I’m feeling refreshed and inspired. I’m going to make some changes to make sure I’m in the best place possible to be the best version of myself. Breaking routine for a bit is great for perspective and the power of some time away should never be underestimated! Just time away to think and breathe can help you see the wood from the trees. I’m happy to be home and can’t wait to get started!

  • Today from 2:00-4:00pm, join Danielle Nardi, a doctor of physical therapy, certified yoga teacher, and active runner, for a two-hour Yoga for Athletes workshop. Learn how to incorporate yoga into your training and recovery. 🌼

We’ll begin discussing the benefits of yoga for athletes (flexibility, balance, strength and focus!) and then we will go through some short yoga sequences including a dynamic warm-up, a cool-down and some core strengthening poses.

Incorporating yoga that focuses on common problem areas specific to athletes can improve form, and make you stronger and more resistant to injury! 🙌

Please note this workshop will have a special focus on runners and cyclists, but is appropriate and beneficial for all athletes – no yoga experience necessary.

For more information and to sign up, please visit our “workshops & events” page on innerglowyogacapecod.com 🤸‍♀️🤸‍♂️

Do you have a child involved in sports or athletics? If so, you may have noticed that stretching is either non-existent or consists of a few static holds after practice or a game. Unfortunately stretching for an athlete is vital to their performance. A regular stretching routine has so many benefits! 🔹Reduces risk of injury like tears to tendons and muscles
🔹Improves range of motion
🔹Increases blood flow
🔹Decreases stiffness and the effects of delayed onset muscle soreness
🔹Improves sport performance
🔹Enhances overall wellness

Our yoga camp for youth athletes is designed to not only teach skills and postures for stretching, but also the key elements of breath work and meditation - essential skills for managing stress in sports and life in general.
Registration available now online and through the MINDBODY app. #youthathletes #youthsportstraining #yogaforathletes #yogaforkids #yogaforsports

  • ***WORKSHOP ALERT*** Yoga for Runners and/or Cyclists
NEW PROGRAM of 3 workshops
In this program, divided across 3 separate workshops, we will spend time trying to understand what can go wrong and why. We will see how we can use Yoga to help, with some specific poses adapted to the needs of runners and cyclists. By testing your range of movement, exploring and understanding your body, you will be able to target your own needs and set up you own yoga sequence.

Each workshop can be attended individually. However, for a better understanding and efficiency, we would recommend participating in all three. Each workshop will include a warm-up for the whole body (vinyasa flow style) and a relaxation at the end.

First workshop Saturday 1st June 3-5.30pm
@samsaramindbody £35 or £30 for early birds

To book please visit https://www.samsaramindandbody.com/

  • Do you even erectorcise?
“To stand up from the floor is a movement sequence we mastered as children. Regrettably, in our busy lives this mastery has lessened over time until the normal act of rising from the floor becomes awkward and uncomfortable. Our musculoskeletal system needs the exercise of erecting to stay in good moving health. I call these the Erectorcises and the ability to relearn and reintroduce these exercises into everyday life provides some protection from degeneration and dis-ease.” Phillip Beach, Muscles & Meridians.
If movement is medicine, ground engagement is multivitamins.

  • Watching me juggling with a tennis ball or walking on yoga blocks as platforms , a colleague of mine messaged me asking what I was doing. Yoga as usual, I replied ironically.
What is strength or endurance worth without the balance and stability?
No matter how many calf raises you do in the gym, your balance won’t be stable unless your brain is attuned to the signals from the proprioceptors in muscles and tendons throughout your body that detect subtle stretches and deformations.
Simply staying upright is, in some ways, a full-body exercise.
Walking is trickier still, since each step is essentially a controlled fall.
Running is an ancestral motor pattern but most of adult population has lost it.
An emerging body of research suggests that exercising in a way that taxes your coordination, agility and balance — a suite of abilities known as “gross motor skills” — rewires your brain in ways that are fundamentally different from straightforward aerobic activity or strength training. By improving these physical attributes, you also enhance cognitive performance.
One such study, compared the effects of walking three times a week with what they called “coordination training" (a series of exercises using stability boards, balls, jump ropes and other equipment) and including elements like “reaction to moving objects/persons.” (just like my exercising among my kids playing basketball) .
Superficially, the two regimens were equally good but it resulted that novelty and unpredictability, rather than repetition, were essential to keep your brain engaged and is called “motor cortex plasticity,” a measure of the brain’s ability to change its wiring in response to new stimuli.
A striking feature of the balance and coordination exercises used in these cognitive studies is that they are felt like flow or YOGA, fully engaged in the moment'chitta vrti nirodah'. Incidently, all Shaolin kungfu academies invite aspiring students to train various skills like running and ping pong alike in preparation for kungfu training.

  • On Saturday, May 18th from 2:00-4:00pm, Join Danielle Nardi, a doctor of physical therapy, certified yoga teacher, and active runner, for a two-hour Yoga for Athletes workshop.
