  • It was 2006 when I joint worked with a personal trainer to carry out exercise sessions for adults with learning disabilities. Her name was Kate and she suggested to me to become a life coach! At the time, I thought that there was no chance that I’d ever do that. Simply because I thought that I didn’t have enough life experience. I was a psychology graduate and had worked as a support worker with young ex offenders, adults with learning disabilities and as a photography developer (yes I developed photographs from film!) but was very inexperienced with life, so what the hell could I teach anyone? Fast forward; I have worked in adult social services in mental health, generic adults, safeguarding, hospital and learning disabilities teams; in schools and colleges as a psychology &sociology teacher, as an independent sports therapist, massage therapist and personal trainer, as well as being a physio assistant and dance teacher. I have worked all over London in public and private sectors and understand that an individuals work life accounts for a huge part of their identity. The wrong career choice, too much pressure at work, and the feeling of stagnation I.e. no foresight can lead to anxiety, depression, self inflicted social isolation, self neglect and even suicide. I have witnessed all outcomes in my professional life and I’ve seen where the generic medical model and old fashioned ways of assessing people has failed people. It’s my firm belief that with a modified non clinical way of working with people, such outcomes do not need to be inevitable, or at minimum, not long lasting - with the right support to change our paradigms, reframe life’s events and shift perspectives. I’m more than ready for this and can’t wait to use my newly found life coaching skill set with my clients, students, friends (if they like) and family (don’t have a choice 😉). If you ever read this Kate, more than 10 years later, you were right!! 💜. •

We explored the concept of beauty as a ritual and embodied presence, and facial gua sha as a daily practice that connects you to pleasure, nourishment, and wholesome wellbeing. I‘m honored to hear feedback and stories from workshop participants about how what they learned has been valuable for their home skincare routine and also work as an esthetician, makeup artist, and massage therapist.

  • {BALSAMIC SALMON CAULIFLOWER BOWL} 🌿🐟⁣
⁣
Easy delicious weeknight dinner: ✔️⁣
⁣
This bowl is fluffy, flavorful, and packed with fertility-friendly nutrition. ⁣
⁣
👌🏼Cauliflower is what we call a cruciferous vegetable, which aids in estrogen detoxification inside your liver. When we’re talking about hormone balance for a better period and to promote optimal fertility, it’s vital we support the delicate balance between progesterone and estrogen during our luteal phases.⁣
⁣
Cruciferous veggies also contain what we call I3C or indole-3-carbinol, a potent substance which may help prevent breast cancer, colon cancer, and other cancers 🙏🏼⁣
⁣
Makes 2 servings:⁣
•4 Tbsp extra-virgin olive oil⁣
•10 oz salmon⁣
•1/4 cup diced onion⁣
•3 cloves garlic, minced⁣
•2 cups riced cauliflower ⁣
•1/4 cup low-sodium tamari, coconut aminos, or soy sauce⁣
•1/8 tsp cayenne pepper ⁣
•1/8 tsp black pepper ⁣
•1/4 tsp garlic powder ⁣
•1/8 tsp turmeric⁣
•Green onions, for garnish⁣
•Balsamic vinegar, for drizzle⁣
⁣
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Rub 2 Tbsp of the olive oil onto the salmon (coat each side) and sprinkle with a little salt and pepper. Bake 10 mins, or until salmon is opaque and flakes easily with a fork. Set aside when done.⁣
2. Meanwhile, heat remaining 2 Tbsp of oil over medium-high heat in a large skillet. Toss in onions and cook 2 mins. Add in garlic and cook another minute. Turn down heat to medium. Add in riced cauliflower and cook another 4-5 mins, until cauliflower begins to soften. ⁣
3. Pour in tamari/aminos/soy sauce and cook another 2-3 mins, until cauliflower has absorbed some the sauce. Add in cayenne and black peppers, garlic powder, and turmeric. Cook another 1 minute and then remove from heat. ⁣
4. Cut up salmon into chunks and mix with the cauliflower rice. Divide into 2 servings. Sprinkle some green onions and drizzle some balsamic vinegar over each bowl. Serve warm! ⁣

  • A healthy home is a happy home💛 Spending time together bonding over a meal is crucial to not just your overall happiness but ultimately your health. (As is getting outside, going for walks/bike rides, laughing, talking etc). Setting one day a week aside (or more if you can) to sit down together, cook a family meal, and talk about your day and things that are important to you is time well spent. Now that the kids are a little older, I also assign small tasks to complete the family meal (anything from chopping, shelling peas, shucking corn, setting table, napkins, filling water glasses etc.) When we all come together to share this it makes it so much more enjoyable. (And trust me it did not always feel enjoyable with picky eaters and fussy toddlers, and even now some meals are better and easier than others BUT it gets better so hang in there mamas).💗 Today is Sunday; we are off to church and then over to Granville island, and I know we will find all kinds of delicious and fresh goodness to start our week off on a healthy note!🌱 Stay tuned for Sunday dinner inspo, but if you haven’t yet made the lemony yogurt herb marinade for chicken it would be a delicious place to start (recipe a few posts back)!👍
