  • the first man who told me
that sons would be the better support
than daughters
was my own dad ;
he almost made me believe that
i was weaker than my
opposite gender
that i really cannot do
anything in life
but to serve hot chapattis
for dinner
and dust the room;
he almost made me believe that
i am not allowed to make
my own choices and
i will always be a liability
that i'm supposed to take care
of everyone but myself;
i'm weak yet i'm supposed to
look after everything
in the house
right from the laundry to the kitchen;
i can pick gallons of water
but i cannot pick myself
while i'm drowning in it;
i'm supposed to protect
the milk in the kitchen
from overflowing yet
i'm not capable enough
to protect myself after sundown;
while you were torn out of her belly
you are stronger than her
you are mightier than her
you are the decision maker
you are everything
which she can never be;
and
while i was torn our of her belly
i'm just like her
weak and fragile enough
to mould the next hers' face and her arms
build her systems
and her sights
inside my belly
never asking for the pain
to be decreased;
i'm just like her
a daughter, a mother
i'm just like her
a loaded gun
ready for the warfare
she's the reason you exist
she's the one who'd saved me from drowning
she's the one who runs the world
at the edge of a gunshot;
she's the chosen one
isn't she? -
you didn't get daughters, you've got missile guns.
