  • I’m usually not a steak eater (because apparently well done isn’t a thing) but tonight I was craving meat. We paired it with a 2011 Zinfandel from @aguadulcewinery ✨ which was an interesting choice. It tastes better with air (you must aerate & sit prior to serving) It’s comparable to a cab sauv. A nice sweet start with a slight tart note of jamminess mixed with a smooth finish. The finish is amazing, we love it! it’s simple but impressionable on all surfaces. 🥩 What do you like to pair your steak with?

  • Dinner was zoodles with arrabiatta sauce and vegan meatballs. I don’t eat a lot of 🧀, but a bit of freshly shredded Parmesan goes a long way 😋 And oh yes, some delicious 🍷🍷🍷.
.
I went to @bkcellarsurbanwinery a few months ago with @lshakevans and came home with this 2016 Paso Robles Tempranillo.
.
You guys. This wine was so good. BK Cellars is a small, local urban winery in North County San Diego. I love finding places like this that are making amazing wines! Their tasting menu is all different since I was there, so it’s time to go back 😊
.
Do you have any urban wineries near you? If you haven’t checked them out, do yourself a favor and go!

  • A melhor parte de voltar pra casa!
Vinhozinho descomplicado com meu leãozinho! ✌️🍷🦁🐶
_
Um Bordeaux delicinha, o Château Belian-Giraud A.O.C., elaborado por 70% Merlot, 20%Cabernet Sauvignon e 10% Cabernet Franc, esse lindinho é pura fruta em boca.
Apresenta aromas amora, framboesa, cereja e morango. Frutas vermelhas!
Em boca tem taninos super macios, leve e frutado, daqueles vinhos que a gente bebe fácil e quando vê?! A garrafa foi embora!
_
E vcs aí, qual o vinho de hoje?!
Saúde! ♥️🍷♥️🍷

Wine tastings bring a veritable assortment of emotions: excitement, anticipation, even giddiness knowing that you’re about to taste something that was crafted by fine wine makers, and took heaven and earth to converge to make such lovely wine. ✨ Last night was about ALL the feels. ☺️🍷 The @klinkerbrick and @bruce_patch_wines tasting at one of my fave spots, @taylorswineshop was full of surprises. And really GOOD ones!🍷🍷 All reds, all good for grilling season (that’s barbecuing in the South!😉). And all delicious.💯
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
One bottle stood out before I even tasted it. Old Ghost. It’s an old vine Zin from Lodi. *SWOON* It had my heart before I even had a sip.💖
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Side note: I’ve never been to Lodi, but so many of the wines that I have fallen head over heels for are old vine Zins from this region. I knew before the first sip that I would love it. And I did. 😍
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Smooth. Velvet-y. Delicious. 💋Need I say more? This Zin was full of dark fruit, plum and jammy flavors that were set off by notes of vanilla, oak and hints of pepper and anise. A wine that I wanted more than a sip of...and a wine whose flavor will continue to haunt me for some time to come...Have you ever had a wine like that?

  • 🍇Pinot Noir, especially from Burgundy is out of my budget, so I head South to Beaujolais and savour the Gamay grape in all its glory! Morgon, one of the 10 Crus of Beaujolais tends to have pronounced black cherry fruit, red berries and sufficient tannins to age for a decade in bottle🍷
-
What’s your budget friendly region or wine? Or maybe you can afford to drink Burgundy everyday😝
-
🇫🇷The region is located in east central France, south of Burgundian region Maconnais and North of the Rhone Valley. The grapes enjoy a temperate and semi continental climate. In the Northern part of the region where the crus are located the landscape is made up of gentle, rolling hills with granite and schist soils and some limestone. Often the wine label will not state “Beaujolais” when coming from the communes classified as “Crus” this can be quite confusing for new-comers. Keep an eye out for the following – St Amour, Julienas, Chenas, Moulin-a-Vent, Fleurie, Chiroubles, Morgon, Regnie, Brouilly and Cote de Brouilly.
-
🇫🇷The Southern part of the region is flat, the vines are planted on rich soils with clay often appearing. Wines produced here often fall under the regional appellation of “Beaujolais AC” and are often light, early drinking styles.
-
The grape responsible for Beaujolais, Gamay produces wines that tend to be light in tannin and colour with high acidity. Typically consumed youthful and chilled. There is a more serious side of this grape and wines coming from Morgon and Moulin a Vent can taste quite similar to Pinot with age.

  • Wine and food are about connection: they are the most ancient social media ever invented, because with a glass of good wine and a delicious meal the conversation flows better and the emotions come out effortlessly. Me and these San Diego wine girls had a great time together yesterday at Cesarina restaurant (super recommended the octopus appetizer!) talking about Lugana wines and our messy lives! How to turn a Tuesday into a pleasant mid week break!

  • What the point to buy 100$ wine if it tastes the same as 10$?🤨
.
Recently I've heard this question way too often. There are many videos online, which are "expose" expensive wines. Experts can't feel the difference!
Why should I pay more?🚨
.
Imagine you are buying a car.
You can buy a brand new Ferrari or a piece of metal on the weels.
You will be able to move in either of them, but what will make the difference?
First of all, the details which the vehicle is consist of🧩
.
So when you buy cheap wine you are paying for:
1️⃣ Not valuable area, potentially not good terroir.
2️⃣ High yield wines (means quantity not quality), the vine didn't receive good care.
3️⃣ Simple, easy to grow grape variety
4️⃣ No wood usage
5️⃣ Quick release on the market (wine need time to be ready, ripe)
.
Add the cost of the manual work, land, supplies, storage, technologies. You pay for the cheapest, quickest, basic stuff.
.
Also consider, that in Argentina manual work or supplies can cost less than in France.
Harvest grape on the mountain territory of Valle d'Aosta is harder than in relatively plain Napa Valley.
Ok, there are a thousand other variables, which can affect the price.
Can you think about others?
.
The most important - wine is made to be enjoyed. Don't go for the cheapest. Don't go for the most popular. Try and find what suits the best your personal unique taste.

Cheers!🍷🍷🍷

  • I like to talk, if it’s about wine, even better! I started a podcast last week, it’s for my Italian followers, in Italian, it’s weird to talk my mother language in front of a microphone after a long time... I used to tell the news at the radio, when I lived in Italy, so it’s kinda back to basic for me... and it’s so much fun! Apologize to my English speaking friends, but you can read and watch my wine adventures every day here, on my blog, IGTV or YouTube. The podcast for now it’s Italian only, but in the future, maybe... 🇮🇹 italiano
Buon ascolto.
