  • Nothing better when you visit places and soak up the beautiful architecture, here’s me mooching around the Louvre area in Paris freezing my ass off may I add.
These beautiful buildings wouldn’t being standing without good foundations.
Which is just like us we need good foundations and support in our lives to grow, expand and too feel safe and supported.
Do you have good foundations in your life?
If not create them, surround yourself with supportive people and offer your support to people too, when we
know that we are held well in life, it will change and shift everything so we can open up and be more vulnerable and it helps us find grace.
I’m grateful for good foundations in my life, that’s help me feel rooted to the earth but able to touch the sky.

  • I've got wheels at last. Loving my new wheelchair. Great for around the house and getting to local shops and Doctors. All I need now is a car big enough to be adapted to drive into in my chair.
Cant wait to get out in it over the weekend with the dogs x

  • Hello 👋🏼 is it me you’re looking for 👀?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

• NO tienes baños adaptados.

Warum?

  • Today I’m doing one of my least favourite things - using public transport. We missed the train we booked assistance on because the transport to the station took over an hour for a 15 minute journey. I know if I wasn’t a wheelchair user, it wouldn’t have taken that long. .
I also had to call and tweet three different places to even arrange access for the train I didn’t take in the first place because of the delay. .
Thankfully, I was allowed on the next train but here’s the fun thing - they don’t have to let me. In fact, they didn’t have to let me book assistance today. They could have rejected it because it was less than 24 hours in advance. .
Travelling in a wheelchair is one of the most consistently frustrating things I’ve ever done. Other passengers are rude, getting the ramps attached to the trains is very hit or miss, we get told off for booking our train travel less than 24 hours in advance (because disabled people never make spontaneous plans obviously), we get forgotten and left because the assistance request hasn’t been processed properly and so no one knows we need a ramp. We are at a constant disadvantage. .
Before my wheelchair, I went everywhere alone. I’d book last minute flights or decide to hop on a train just for the fun of it. But now? Now I fear leaving my house alone. I fear trying new routes. The idea of taking a plane makes me panic. .
I am not disabled because of my mind or my body and the things they can or can’t do. I am disabled because society has decided my life has less value, less worth and less meaning just because it’s different.

  • Many people here on Instagram ask me if I take something else besides the approved medication for ALS („Rilutek“), such as food supplements.
.
Until now, I only took dietary supplements when I felt a cold or something like that was coming on, or when many people close around me (nurses, friends, office colleagues) were sick or ailing. Then I took and still continue to take zinc and vitamin C, and I also drink a special juice from beetroot which is high in iron as a preventive measure. But that's about it.
.
I have never heard or read anything about nutritional supplements being recommended for ALS, or that they have any effect.
Until the middle of this week.
.
Then I had a conversation with a woman who works in an ALS clinic in Switzerland. Coincidence (or rather the situation with the care bridging after my boyfriend's surgery) brought us together - I haven't had any contact with any ALS specialists for more than 10 years.
.
During this conversation I was told what is recommended to patients in the Swiss ALS clinic. And I don’t want to withhold this information from you:
.
1. vitamin E: take 1,200 IU (international units) daily.
2. vitamin D3: take 500 IU daily with food. In winter 800 IU daily.
3. creatine (= a protein powder to mix, preferably with red grape juice): take 10g daily for 3 months, then 2 weeks break, then again 3 months etc. You can get creatine powder for example in a fitness studio.
.
As with the drug Rilutek, the intake of these substances does not promise a cure, but it can slow down the progress of muscle loss.
.
I’ve already bought the vitamin D3, and I will get the rest next week.
Although I may won't feel much of a „difference“ (I’d need to compare how fast ALS would progress without the intake), I think that taking supplements is probably better than doing nothing as long as there's no cure…

.
“Holding On” / There are moments when we are blinded by our struggles, blinded by the past, present and future —unable to see the truth of what we thought was true about life and ourself — barely holding on. And in these drowning moments, I turn to imagination as a place of comfort and a means to spark curiosity and deep contemplation of our selves.

Today is Rare Disease Day; a global day to raise awareness amongst the public and decision-makers about rare diseases and their impact on patients' lives.

A rare disease is any disorder that affects small percentage of the population, therefore provides little financial incentive in a multi-billion dollar sect of high profits in drugs and therapy.

There are 7,000 rare diseases worldwide.
1 in 20 people will be affected in their lifetime. Only 5% of rare diseases have treatment. Half of rare disease patients are children and often fatal. Most rare diseases are genetic, difficult to diagnose and considered more treatable compared to cancer and AIDS. To understand rare diseases beyond the statistics, visit my art and blog @ kamredlawsk.com #kamdraws #RareDiseaseDay

Dear friends, Champa Devi is suffering from a dislocated spine and hip fracture which have rendered her immobile with both legs. Today she was provided with a wheelchair and mobilised under our GATI programme. Her husband was facing extreme challenges in moving her around but now this wheelchair is going to make their lives easier. Our deepest prayers and wishes for her speedy recovery 🙏

Our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to all our sponsors and volunteers for their consistent support. Our special thanks and gratitude to Mrs Rachna Malik, Ms Devika Jairath and Team Givers for a Cause for being such a great support throughout in mobilising the differently abled
Through this initiative, we have mobilised 129 differently abled people so far from the Below Poverty Line and we are looking forward to mobilise more. If you wish to be a part of our efforts in mobilising the differently abled then please feel free to drop us a message and we will get back to you.

Aldri latt slikt vinne over meg før men ja.
