  • * I am complete *
Sure, I haven’t done everything I want to do.
I have goals, intentions and aspirations for my life.
I’m often thinking of the future when I’m somewhere perfectly amazing.
I sometimes look at my body and don’t love it.
Sometimes I’m lonely.
Sometimes I’m even lost.
And sometimes I don’t even feel complete.
But, all that being said
I am complete 🌹 . . .

  • Morning!⠀
I’m back again with more stories to tell 😅 Yesterday on my Q&A I got an influx of intrusive and rude questions (moreso that usual 😂) and I figured it would be best to address them head on.⠀
⠀
I’m unsure where people get the notion that because I’m disabled I’m not allowed to call you out when you are being rude to me🤣. People seem to be shocked that I have it in me to be sarcastic 🤪. I have a BIG following of creeps on here who seem to be obsessed with my paralysis and I think that’s where most of this stems from.⠀
⠀
Anyway, with that being said - I know I share A LOT of my life online. Some would even suggest that I’m ‘asking’ for these questions by doing so, and to be fair, I’m all for freedom of speech but at the same time, I’m well within my rights to NOT answer to anyone who I find to be rude, crude or make me feel uncomfortable 🥵 . ⠀
⠀
I share what I see fit and that’s MY choice. I’m not a poster for disability, I don’t have all the answers, I’m not here selling paralysis porn and I’m certainly not a doctor 👩🏽‍⚕️. I just wanted to highlight that this is simply just me documenting my journey and having fun along the way👩🏽‍🦽. ⠀
⠀
I will no longer tolerate anyone who becomes aggressive via inbox when I choose not to answer their inappropriate questions 🤣. ⠀
⠀
This is just a small handful of questions I received in ONE day that were followed up with people telling me that I’m the rude one lol.⠀
⠀
I take a lot of shite on here, most of which I find hilarious and doesn’t bother me one bit - but just remember that if you wouldn’t say something to someone in the street then it’s probably best not to say it behind a screen.⠀
⠀
Thank you to everyone who IS genuine and is so supportive.⠀
Lots of love 💕 ⠀

  • One day I'll buy a mirror and stop taking every full length photo of me and my chair in waiting room toilets but until then...here I am, smudgy mirror and all.
I am deeply grateful for my GP - he always takes time to listen to everything (today we were with him for well over 30 minutes 😬), he's honest, he's a bit of a troll in the best possible way (today he told my PA to buy more litter trays so I can share them with the cats now I'm trying movicol 😂) and most importantly? He listens to me.
Something I learnt far later than I wish I has on my chronic illness journal is that if you don't like your doctor or don't feel listened to? You don't have to stay with them. My current GP is the 4th one I've seen at my practice and I only settled on him once my PA came with me too and reassured me that he's great.
That's my other top tip - if you know you have medical PTSD, try to take a fairly neutral person with you when you're trying doctors out (ie someone who isnt going to just agree with whatever your trauma brain tells you). This has been crucial for me as I have a lot of fear abour being believed, and it allows me to double check everything that's happened after and seek reassurance that I was (which I still need after almost every appointment, even though my GP is amazing). If you're in the UK, I always recommend the NHS choices website as well. I'd rather travel a little farther and have a well rated practice than go to the one around the corner that treats their patients like crap.
Todau's "haul" included movicol to deal with Oxycodone side effects 💩, Oxybutynin Hydrochloride to deal with what my GP suspects is bladder instability and my holy grail product, REGULAR VENLAFAXINE 🙌🏻🥳😍. I got moved onto the long release due to supply issues and it hasn't gone well so I can't tell you how thrilled I am to have my old faithful back. And we got some progress on my mental health referral which I'm grateful for.
Thank you Dr Sutcliffe. You're honestly my hero.

  • Reached 4,000 followers over the weekend (😮🥰), so I thought I should take a second to re-introduce myself!
Hi! 👋🏻 My name is Danielle and I’m 30 years old. I’m a YouTuber, model, fashionista, artist, daughter, sister, aunt, friend...oh, and I happen to have a birth defect called Spina Bifida 😀 I started my YouTube channel “Daniellability” back in October of 2018 because I realized that people have a lot of questions about what life is like with a disability, and I wanted to provide some answers in a fun and accessible (pun intended) way. My goal with all of this is to show that people with disabilities can be interesting, vibrant, and important parts of society. Having a disability isn’t a death sentence, and in fact it’s one of the least interesting things about me! Thank you so much to all of you who following along. I genuinely appreciate each and every one of you! Be sure to check out the link in my bio for my YouTube channel (subscribe will you’re at it!), and let me know if there are any topics you would like me to do a video on. And introduce yourself in the comments below so I can get to know you too 😁

  • I’m so glad my boy is used to my chair. When I first came home with a wheelchair (after a muscle biopsy during my diagnosis period) he was absolutely terrified, and it broke my heart. The thought of him being scared around me was awful.
Now he can’t wait to jump on and ride around the house!
It sounds silly but him now being comfortable with my aids that are all over the house means the world to me.
He still gets absolutely baffled when he uses my lift though 😂 but I can’t expect too much from him 😂
And yes, he’s tattooed on my leg 🐱

  • Morning 👋🏻⠀
Hope you’ve all had a good weekend! We have been busy with a new nephew arriving on Saturday 👶🏻.⠀
⠀
This week I finally received my certificates for my course that I completed last year at @hartlepoolbeautyacademy @_learningcurvegroup @cityandguilds 🤓.⠀
⠀
I’m so chuffed with myself - I received distinctions In every module I possibly could 😲.⠀
⠀
It was actually a lot harder than I’d first imagined to be honest. Learning and understanding about skin structure and anatomy was difficult, especially as I hadn’t wrote an essay since my dissertation in 2014 😅. BUT we made it and I’m now fully qualified and I can go ahead and get all my insurances too 😁.⠀
⠀
I enjoyed the make up module the most and I’ve been practicing over the weekend too. SWIPE ⏭ to see! Tomorrow is my second day on my new course - hair and media make up, and I can’t wait to get going.⠀
⠀
I am still looking for models to practice on too, so don’t be shy 🙋🏻‍♀️.⠀
⠀
Today I have some building work going on in my wet room so I have to mill about all day watching my whole house get the dreaded layer of dust 🤣 Cant wait time clean it up for the rest of time!!!!! Hope you all have a wonderful week!⠀

  • A smile makes everything disappear. The deep chronic pain that follows me 24/7 or the extreme fatigue due to my body attacking itself.
It even hides a brain fog that stops me from understanding a simple situation, knowing what I'm doing here or performing a basic task.
.
.
Reality check:
When I say bodybuilding takes all I have, it's literally. If I train to compete, that's ALL I can do.
I have about 6-7 usable hours per "good" day and I need a nap in between, usually after my morning workout.
As everyone, I still need to do dishes and grocery. That time and energy aren't there, though. It also means cutting any social activities.
.

So when I talk about pain or fatigue, it has nothing to be compared with someone healthy who's training. Think more "you're doing a 4hrs school exam, haven't slept for 3 days after doing a 10k marathon, had a rave to celebrate and you just climbed up the Everest mountains to get to your test" type of fatigue...you might be close.
.
My constant chronic pain is at a level that a healthy person would be vomiting so much it's intense. Oh wait, I do too...
.
.
What I'm trying to say here is that Yes, I can make it! Yes, it's possible. But understand that it takes my everything to get there. .
.
I love to smile to hide it all, for myself as much as for others. I focus on the gains, how happy and free it makes me feel but make no mistake; the reality is quite different behind. .
.
It's okay to "not be okay". It's okay to say it. I'm not complaining, you know me too well. It's just trying to make understand the reality of chronic illness warriors and stating facts. .

That said, I won't stop. It's not over until I WIN!💪😉

  • “He is perfect , he is successful , he travels , he is always happy , he looks amazing on a wheelchair” . ———————————————————————
Whats most people don’t know is that everyday i struggle (like-every-one-else) but some days are worst with all the nasty chronic pain i have to live with due to my SCI (spinal-cord-injury) .
———————————————————————
When I see my medical bills , i am like 🤭 i didn’t sign up for this and i hate that i have to pay expensive medical bills at such a young age .
Believe me , i keep myself healthy most of the time because i don’t want to see myself in a hospital bed anymore . ———————————————————————
Having a SCI is like riding a RollerCoaster 🎢 .
—————————————————————
You have good days and you have really really bad days . —————————————————————
What i am sure about is the fact that GOD is in control .
—————————————————————

Whats most people don’t know is that everyday i struggle (like-every-one-else) but some days are worst with all the nasty chronic pain i have to live with due to my SCI (spinal-cord-injury) .

When I see my medical bills , i am like 🤭 i didn’t sign up for this and i hate that i have to pay expensive medical bills at such a young age .

  • Morning all 👋🏻⠀
I didn’t get much sleep last night - you know when your mind is just on overdrive... good overdrive, but still all the same, overdrive 😂 . ⠀
⠀
I sit for hours and hours doodling ideas down on my iPad, writing notes after notes in my phone or planning some crazy project that I expect to achieve three years down the line 😅. Is anyone else the same?!⠀
⠀
I think I just find it hard to switch off sometimes, especially when the message I’m trying to portray is so personal to my situation. When you are passionate about something it’s all you seem to eat, sleep and breathe 🥵 ⠀
⠀
I have so much going on in the back ground, but the Wheelie Good Challenge is in the forefront of my mind ATM 👩🏽‍🦽. I just want to get it RIGHT and not some half arsed attempt🤯. I want to give you guys the BEST possible experience and insight into the world of disabilities, perceptions and discrimination so that’s why I’m taking my time. I’ve got an amazing team behind me - the guys at @_raw35 assist with help and advice on all my projects and ideas too. It’s great to work with such likeminded and passionate individuals! ⠀
⠀
What is it that YOU are passionate about?! Is it football? Poetry? Baking? Whatever it is, Let me know in the comments below 👇🏻⠀
⠀
Have a fab weekend ✨⠀

  • Morning 🤩⠀
Hope you’ve all had a good weekend - I’ve been busy as always 💃🏻🥂⠀
⠀
I had another lovely encounter on Saturday involving a disabled toilet 🚽 . I went to the loo and I could hear some girls slagging me off outside as they had to wait🤨. Obviously they presumed that my ears AND my legs don’t work as they proceeded to moan about how long I took in there 🤣. ⠀
⠀
Anyway, after finishing my wee (just to clarify it was a number 1 and I didn’t take ages either lol) little old me decides to sit on the other side of the door listening to them slagging me and my toilet duration off. ⠀
⠀
Unbeknown to them, the supposed ‘20 minutes’ that I was ‘taking the piss’ whilst of course, pissing, was about to get longer due to them thinking it’s okay to laugh at me😒. ⠀
⠀
My friend overheard and asked what the issue was - to which they replied ‘the girl in the wheelchair is taking the piss’ and proceeded to try and unlock the door😑. Startled, my friend explained that I can take as long as I need and asked if they specifically needed the disabled toilet. It turns out that they were able bodied and just didn’t want to go to the normal toilets.⠀ ⠀
It was the first time I’ve overheard people actually outright laughing at me and I was shocked to see it from two girls of a similar age to myself👎🏻. I think people forget that their life can be turned upside down in less than a second. This could be YOU sitting where I am and having to listen to girls slating you for taking a few more minutes than usual. ⠀
⠀
Disabled toilets aren’t a luxury- they are a necessity for those who NEED them, and it’s situations like this which infuriate me☹️. ⠀
⠀
So, the moral of the story is please please don’t abuse the use of disabled toilets and also people in wheelchairs aren’t necessarily deaf 🤣 ⠀
⠀
Hope you all have a good week, I’m off to the car dealership for another meeting today 🥴🚗!!! ⠀
Lots of love xxx⠀
