All the above are reasons as to WHY I continue - but the more important aspect of my journey - these 2 right here. My Boys. My little family. I make sure I am the healthiest version of myself for THEM.

  • After an expansive, unending, unconditional love of every thing and every being came pouring out of me, I realized that I too, was a part of what I'd loved without bounds. I was the love, it was not separate from me.
So, I started singing love songs to myself 🥰
Whenever I'd come across a song that was intended for someone else, I'd sing it as my true-self singing it to my ego-self. Accepting and loving the parts of me that I grew up believing I needed to discard. 
What's funny about when we do that is that those parts begin to soften. Hard, rigid parts of ourselves start to soften when we accept them. They too are beautiful. You are perfect exactly as you are.

I usually don’t have a sweet tooth but lately I’m into it. I think it’s all the baking I’m seeing others do. This recipe was pretty good. I don’t think the “caramel” really tastes like caramel and that’s what made me want it so that was disappointing. But hey they are still good.

  • "3 Ways to Stay Connected, While Social Distancing." We're social beings, and when we feel disconnected from each other, it takes a toll on our well-being. ⠀
⠀
Here are 3 ideas to help you feel more connected to others. ⠀
⠀
1.  See your loved one's faces. Use Facetime, zoom or video conferencing to see friends and family while you talk.  Make it a point to reach out to them regularly, so you can still "see" each other. ⠀
⠀
2. Do something kind for a neighbor, or someone in your community... you might not be able to have physical contact, but we can make it a point to wave, smile, and if you're able to go on walks, make sure to acknowledge others on their way, even if they're far away. ⠀
⠀
3.  Deepen friendships.  Reach out to someone you haven't talked to in a long time.  Maybe start with a text (because Facetime might be weird). Make it a point to reach out to old friends that you want to bring back into your life.  Write them a letter. Send them an encouraging text.  Reach out and deepen your existing friendships. ⠀

  • DOs and DON’Ts of At Home Workouts for Fat Loss

What should you be doing at home to continue making progress toward your fat loss goals?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1️⃣Continue training FOR YOUR GOAL. I see so many people doing things like plyometric (jumping) focused workouts or taking up running right now. If you are doing those things because you enjoy them - go for it! However, if you want to continue to workout for the specific goal of fat loss, these things do not serve you!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Instead, mimic your lifts from your gym program as best you can at home. Use whatever equipment you have available to you and then implement tempo work (like slow eccentrics and pauses) to increase the stimulus of the movement.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Or, you can have a coach program workouts for you based on your goal and what equipment you have available (hi, just saying🙋🏻‍♀️).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2️⃣Remember, you aren’t always motivated to go the gym so don’t expect yourself to be super motivated to workout at home. Put it in your schedule and show up even if you’re not motivated in that moment. Minimize distractions as much as you can and get it done!

  • It’s so insane to me looking at this picture that a month ago I was walking around soho, jumping on scaffolding, wiggling my way through construction sites, not a single thought about whether I was safe or not.
. . . 
Here’s to never taking an easy day for granted again. I can’t wait to get back out into NYC and celebrate once this has passed. But part of me knows it’ll change the way we look at our city for the better.

I promise to be thankful for crowded streets, grateful for early morning alarms, packed classes, walks with friends, and so many other things 🙌🏻

  • My current “new normal” in between emails ☀️ my driveway and a book. One of my goals for 2020 was to read one book a month, so trying to now condense that into one a week for the time being, because why not? I have a bad habit of ordering books on Amazon and letting them pile up, so time to put a dent in the pile. 🤓

  • I've been thinking about who I want to be when *this* is all over, and who I'm becoming.

I have privilege. I'm able-bodied. Despite being biracial, I'm seemingly white. I have a community, in real life & virtually. And yes, financial times are uncertain (for me + perhaps, for you too) I have amazon prime. Thanks, ma!

A less obvious point of #privilege: I’m an introvert. So this whole *stay-home* sitch isn’t my worst nightmare...or a nightmare at all. It’s my happy place. And yet, there’s a fine line between that, and isolation. That place is less happy. It’s a place I used to frequent to stay away from others because I couldn’t be with myself. During times like this, I see glimpses of that chick. I’m gentle with her but tough. I won’t let her feed fear, worry, insecurities or guilt for too long. I give her a hug and let her feel it out and then, I tell her to get the f*ck up.

Because it’s a privilege to get up. Breathe, folks. Trouble doesn't last.

  • Lyme has been one of my biggest hurdles but also my greatest teachers. I’ve been on this path to rediscovery for a few years now and although it’s been insanely challenging at times I couldn’t be more thankful for the things that it has brought me. Some things I’ve been learning along the way:

• I have officially retired from partying but I do appreciate the occasional cocktail(s) or glass of wine here and there.
• I’m fueled by creativity. I LOVE photography. And writing.
• I’ve always felt guilt or shame about my health journey and always felt super misunderstood because of a lack of awareness or information. It always made me feel less than.
• Everyone is on a unique path and we all have our own purposes.
• I love anything wellness. And always have.
• I adore my family and friends and am only interested in genuine, uplifting friendships vs having to be friends with or please everyone.
• Our authenticity is what matters the most.
• I love exploring and traveling.
• I worry way way way too much. About everything.
• We are the ONLY things that stand in our own way.
• I believe we can manifest anything we desire.
• I’m ALWAYS changing, evolving and rediscovering myself and it’s one of the most exciting parts of life.
• Adversities are what push us to grow into the best versions of ourselves.

Hello hello all my luv bugs🤗,

Today has been a day full of a lot of reflection 💭. I found myself going through pictures on my phone and stumbled across a picture of when I first started to realize I was truly unhappy-which is very apparent in my body language in the photo on the left (May 2017).
•
In order to work through my inner struggles and unhealthy coping mechanisms I was using- I decided to take the step to create this page 3 years ago to learn from others and began finding comfort in not only this community, but the gym 🥰.
•
When I initially made this page I just thought it would hold me accountable for my actions as well as keep me motivated in the healthiest of ways, but then I realized I had the power to share my story and journey with those who may be going through similar situations. Never did I ever think I would have somewhat of a ‘following’ (hence the name ‘fitnessbyk10’ - k10 is a nickname my home friends called me😂).
•
I have built relationships with those who are part of this community and it’s so heart-warming to receive support from such kind-hearted and genuine people🤍🥰🤗.
•
I have grown so much mentally and physically and just wanted to show that having patience and kindness to yourself makes all the difference and will translate outwardly which is seen on the photo on the right (March 2020)🦋✨🌻.

This is a constant journey and I just wanted to remind everyone you are not alone. I am always here if you ever want an ear 🤗. I have decided to change my name to ✨’fitwithkirstin’ ✨ as I feel I have grown a lot since I started this page. So here’s to growth and a continuing journey 🌱
