  • 🔥 Fat loss and starvation mode what is it and what does it mean?

Starvation mode is commonly confused with metabolic adaptation or adaptive thermogenesis.

It is very common for a client or follower when they start to stagnate in their weight loss journey that they tell me they are in “starvation mode”. As I’ve spoken about before to lose fat you need to create a caloric deficit. I’ve also spoken about how it is simple as calorie in, calories out but it’s not easy.

As your weight decreases so does your BMR (calories burnt at rest). As it goes down energy balance starts to slowly flip and you move to a positive energy balance (calorie surplus) therefore you gain weight.

What to do when this becomes apparent? Either reduce your portion size or move more. My suggestion? When you have lost a substantial amount of weight already the last thing you want to do is reduce tour food intake even more so If you haven’t been focusing on your NEAT (Non exercise activity thermogenesis) already now is the time as this makes up 20% of your energy expenditure. This will create a caloric deficit and suggests to elicit fat loss.

  • Completed an hour and 10 minutes on the treadmill at 3.7 speed! My body is coming right along..I still have a lot of work to do but I'm not done..140 lbs is my goal..that's where I was at when I was slim thick before my kids..but I'm coming for you 140! Thanks to my God! I hope this motivates someone to not give up or start their own journey! It's so well worth it! God broke me all the way down and now he's building me back up but this time a way better more spiritual version of Joy! 😘😘😘 I love y'all! Be blessed! 🖤🙌🏾🤗💃🏾🙏🏾

I used my instantpot for the first time tonight & it’s safe to say that I’M OBSESSED! it was so so easy to use!! I made goulash for dinner with a piece of garlic bread and I am so full! I was worried that I put the recipe wrong in the WW app, but I redid it about 3 times & it still came out the same! the recipe is on the 3rd pic😋 I’m sure you can make it on the stove top as well. i have 4 more meals of leftovers! I found the idea for this recipe online, but made it completely my own by using different spices, pasta and meat. it’s one of my favorite things to do & I highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys cooking!

Forgot 2 post this earlier but I added a couple more things to my usual starbucks coffee order (cinnamon powder + shot of espresso), & I’m really posting this is for all our new followers who love coffee since I know some of u prolly already seen our post from a little while back 😘😘 .

Truthfully I like to make my own coffee everyday (its just the control freak in me lol) so this is for my really lazy days or if I’m on the road, this is what I get.   • I’ve started and restarted this healthy journey about a million times. But something feels different this time. Maybe because my health is truly at risk this time. After getting my sleep study results on Thursday, I’ve been terrified to go to sleep. Being overweight, I’ve always known I was at risk for health issues, but I guess it didn’t seem real until it happened. I stopped breathing 314 times during my 6 hour sleep study... The longest time was 54 seconds. Im lucky I’m alive! And it’s time I start living. Officially down 14.5lbs and I’m just beginning. ✨

  • My oldest son has been waking me up by blowing chunks the last two mornings, so him and I have been quarantined inside our house. Not to mention, my husband is working this weekend (which never happens, he works a normal 8-5 MF) so I had both boys today (luckily my fam came to help!) Anyway, I was in no mood to make dinner.

We got Potbelly’s. I reallllyyyy wanted the new chicken, mozz, pesto flatbread melt 🤤🤤🤤, but it would have been outrageous in points, so I settled for a half TKY, half Farmhouse with non fat vinaigrette for 11 points. A reminder that sauces and dressings can get ya! Forgot to take a picture of the salad before I started - I was hangry!

  • If you have been following my journey long enough then you know I love food 🙃 and I’m all about the keto eats life. I’m also all about living, which means enjoying the food you eat but also realizing that food is meant to FUEL your body, and sometimes that’s a hard thing to come to terms with. I struggled with it for yeaaaars. I treated good more like a constant treat, rather than fueling my body. If you follow my IG stories, then you know I share my food on the daily so that you can see how possible it truly is. I’m not telling you to give up the cheeseburger, I’m just telling you not to eat it daily and to modify it a bit! A little balance goes a really long way, not fast but the right way. Always here to help 😘.

  • So recently I received some negative feedback that I have posted some “inappropriate“ photos or “thirst traps.” The photo of me on the left is not that long ago, and it has been been me a few times in my life. The photo of me on the right is current. First of all, I put in hard work. I don’t starve myself but I eat healthy. I care about myself and I’m trying to repair the years of damage I did to myself form unhealthy lifestyle choices. Anyone who knows me, knows that I am caring, understanding and by far not an asshole.  Don’t ever judge a book by its cover, SIMPLE.  I love myself and I love that the work I put in is fruiting great results. You should do it too! It’s life changing. And guess what?! Maybe one day I will look like that person on the left again, and you know what? That’s ok too.

  • I was in a room with a group of individuals a few weeks back where we had to share a “fun fact” about ourselves...and I went completely blank 😐
I literally stood up and said “umm..yeah I’m a mom, uh..there’s nothing that interesting about me” and sat back down. It was a little funny, but also in that moment it didn’t even cross my mind that losing OVER 110LBS was a real “fun fact” about me! 👏🏼
I overlook it a lot of the time, or get shy when people mention it. Which I know might sound crazy because obviously I have a public page dedicated to it 🤷🏻‍♀️
I’m slowly learning to embrace my hard work, and that it is something I shouldn’t be afraid to share in person. I worked damn hard for this, it isn’t bragging, it’s being proud. It is hard as hell, in fact it was one of the hardest things physically and mentally I had to commit to, but it was everything I wanted, and yes it was 100% worth it ❤️

  • 10 WAYS TO CONVERT YOUR MEALS INTO WEIGHT LOSS DIET

Indian food is so delicious with all our spices. Unfortunately most restaurants drown Indian food in oil/ cream/ butter 😬. If you’re cooking Indian food at home, here are some tips I use to lighten things up.Because #Absaremadeinthekitchen❤️

1. Use milk instead of cream in curries.
.
2. Substitute tofu cubes for paneer in dishes like saag paneer to get more protein (make sure to use firm tofu or it’ll crumble). If not tofu paneer is also great
.
3. Switch up your grains: Use Jowar, bajra, ragi, oats flour. Choose as per your tatste. They all are great. Make roti/ naan with whole wheat flour instead of white flour (it has more fiber, keeps you full longer)
.
4. Use oil spray instead of oil when cooking stuff like chappatis on a pan. You honestly can’t tell the difference and it saves you tons of calories from the unnecessary oil. (Oil or ghee whatever you like)
.
5. Try making curries with different proteins. Include more protein in your diet in the form of tofu, soyabean, masoor, moong dal, besan flour.
.
6. Use lean cuts of meat in curries instead of fatty cuts (eg – chicken breast instead of thigh meat)
.
7. Do smart indian snacking when home. Like khakra, sprouts, chai with baked snacks, poha, upma.
.
8. Swap regular potatoes with other veggies like sweet potato that are still starchy carbs but have more nutrients and fiber.
.
9. Go high on the spices! Get your flavor from the spices and food itself, and don’t mask these amazing flavors with extra fats.

10. Try to minimise oil/ghee consumption in your daily use to 4-6 tablespoon. (Amount differs for person to person. Consult your doctor prior if you are having any underlying condition.)

All these tips will help you to convert your meals to desi weight loss meals. Do try🤗
