  • Ecclesfield’s St. Mary’s Church is one of the oldest in Sheffield and is grade I listed. Due to its age there have been many altercations during its life. One of those is an old doorway that was bricked up and now forms part of the wall. There have been alleged sightings of an old medieval monk that walks through the wall where the door used to be located. He is possibly French as the church was given to an abbey in Rouen after the Norman Conquest.

  • ☕️🥂🍳 TAMPER - SHEFFIELD 🍳🥂☕️ For those looking for a first class breakfast in Sheffield, look no further than @tampercoffeesw 🙌🏻 I had the ‘Kiwi’ breakfast (with extra halloumi 😋) with a cappuccino and a mimosa on the side (would be rude not to 🥂). You’ll probably have to wait to be seated as it’s so popular but the front of house staff keep you well entertained and it’s 100% worth the wait. The black pudding is 👌🏻Happy brunching people! 💚 #brunch #tampercoffee #weekend

I've got a lot of time for Portuguese tarts (Pastel de Nata). They're sort of a egg custard tart and crème brûlée hybrid, and they're seriously addictive... 🇵🇹
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A good one MUST have these components - golden flaky pastry, rich and creamy filling and that toasty layer of caramelised skin. They're best eaten warm (fresh out the oven ideally) with a dusting of cinnamon🥄
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I've yet to find any in the UK that beat the ones I've had in Lisbon but Lisboa Patisserie @lisboasheffield by the Peace Gardens aren't a mile off! They have a range of other traditional pastries too, I recommend their Tigelada, it's a traditional custard dessert which again resembles crème brûlée (must be why I was so drawn to it) - it wasn't overly sweet and I enjoyed the bouncy texture of it 🥐🍮🥧
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Whatever you go for, pair your sweet treat of choice with a smooth Portuguese coffee and you're set for these crisp Autumnal days ☕🍂
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
P.S. Apologies for the inconsistency of posts recently, just tryna find my mojo again, pls return it if you happen to come across it somewhere 🧐

  • Unsurprisingly The Old Queens Head, Sheffield’s oldest surviving domestic building, is also said to be one of the city’s most haunted. There’s a number of spirits that are thought to dwell within the old timber framed pub. A well was uncovered during renovations by workmen and since then unaccounted for footsteps have been heard echoing from the cellar. The light has also been seen to switch on and off on its own. Unseen phenomena have also occurred. The snug is one of the most haunted rooms and, despite being bolted shut at night, it’s regularly found in the morning with the door wide open. Apparitions have also been reported around the fire place. Have you been in the Old Queens Head and what are your feelings about this iconic Sheffield pub?

  • These past few days away with family have given me time to reflect on life events I rarely think about; celebrating those who are no longer with us + thinking about how fortunate I am to find myself in a job that brings so much opportunity⁣
—⁣
So, here’s a series of photos I’ve been storing in a folder named “nice yellows”, from various places I’ve been this year. If you’re new (hey 👋🏼 what’s up?) or you’ve been around for a little while, thank you for following along 😌

  • Another Webb Lamp Company Ltd. gas destructor lamp, this time on the junction of Union Road and Brincliffe Edge Road. Another cast iron design, this one is unique in Sheffield as it is oddly built in to the boundary wall. Erected in the late 1800’s, this one didn’t work at the time of the listing survey in 1995 but it has been restored to working condition since.
