  • Wildflowers are out. Coming down our driveway there is a sea of purple Hovea - a little hard to capture on video - but enjoy the journey 🌳🌺🌼

  • I’m usually not a steak eater (because apparently well done isn’t a thing) but tonight I was craving meat. We paired it with a 2011 Zinfandel from @aguadulcewinery ✨ which was an interesting choice. It tastes better with air (you must aerate & sit prior to serving) It’s comparable to a cab sauv. A nice sweet start with a slight tart note of jamminess mixed with a smooth finish. The finish is amazing, we love it! it’s simple but impressionable on all surfaces. 🥩 What do you like to pair your steak with?

  • BAROLO DOCG "VIGNA DEL GRIS" - 2005 - CONTERNO FANTINO.

Claudio Conterno and Guido Fantino have always been aware that traditions, agronomic knowledge, oenological knowledge and terroir excellence lead to the production of higher quality wines. Based on these principals, in 1982 the "Conterno Fantino" winery was founded in Monforte d'Alba and has just under thirty hectares of vineyards, between its own and rented vineyards. Their organic regime yields pure and prized grapes which give rise to equally excellent wines: bunches of nebbiolo, barbera, dolcetto and chardonnay are traditionally processed, preferring, obviously above all, the reds. These undergo long periods of maturation in wood and likewise long periods of aging in glass. The Barolo "Vigna del Gris", labeled "Conterno Fantino", is worth every penny of the price, if not more. It is an excellent wine, rich and complex, which requires serving only for the most important and formal of occasions: fabulous. It comes from a careful selection of Nebbiolo bunches, which ferment in contact with the skins and then mature for two years in the barrel and one in the bottle.
Taste: Goblet red, elegant and noble. Sweet floral notes open the olfactory, which then continues on flavors of ripe red pulp fruit, to finally let us perceive precious tertiary nuances of tobacco, mint and pepper. The palate is balanced and silky, characterized by a tannic texture that shows it's capable of supporting the wine for many more years. The finish is long and tasty.
AVERAGE PRICE: € 90

Cheers epicureans! 🥂
