.
Deboísmo who? .
Cuide do meio ambiente!
.

  • We need to be continually engaging and connecting with our clients. We want our clients to be wowed and we do this by creating consistent and predictable experiences. Our clients are used to getting things when they want it. A great example is Netflix, you don’t have to wait for an episode or record it. You can watch what you want, when you want and how much you want. You need to remember that your clients expectations are not being set by your industry. They are being set by the leaders in the customer experience industry eg Amazon. They are now coming to expect that same level of experience with all the businesses they engage with. And the veterinary and vetrehab world are being left behind. 3 important strategies to cover are 🦄1. Service on demand: make sure your clients can book an appointment, get an answer to their questions when they want. No leaving messages and calling them back. You need an online booking system. No filling in contact forms and a 24 hour turn around, you need what’s app business. 🦄2. Personalisation: our clients want tailored experiences that is relevant to them and their pets. They don’t want to see posts about horses when they don’t own any. They are not just an account number they want to be recognized. 🦄3. Reducing friction : people will pay for this. Well I know I will. People will pay to get priority boarding on a plane because they hate waiting in queues. Look at your practice and check if your customer experience is frictionless. How long does your client have to wait to pay their invoice? These little things are small but contribute to the overall client experience. #caninerehabilitation #vetmarketing #vetlife #vetsofinstagram #vetrehab #vetrehabmarketing #vetprenuer #caninephysio #vetrehabpractice #vetpractice #vetcx #vetbusiness

  • Folks, sound on for adorable baby skunk chirps! 🦨

Neonatal skunks are called “kits” and are born blind until about 3 weeks old when they finally open their eyes and see this beautiful 🌎 This along with her fur coat and weight put this lil lady at about 2 weeks old!
Like a lot of wildlife, Skunks are very misunderstood critters. While it’s hard to be a fan of that unpleasant spraying , to me it’s harder not to respect how amazing of a defense mechanism it is! The ‘spray’ from a skunk comes from their anal scent glands (dogs and cats have these too) but it’s the muscles around these glands that allow skunks to actually spray with a high degree of accuracy up to 10ft away! And effective enough to scare even the biggest predators away 🐻 🐺
I think they’re cute...probably why I’m in this field 😂🤷🏼‍♂️ If you do end up on the wrong side of a skunk, I recommend scrubbing up with some hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, and dish soap. And probably throwing all your clothes away lol #themoreyouknow🌈 .

  • Starting a new job Wednesday has brought on a lot of self-reflection recently. This will be my second veterinary job, and it is exciting (but of course scary!) to think about starting over again. .

The comforting part is that I now have the medicine and surgery down after 5.5 years. I really want to focus on myself during this next job through personal and professional development to become a strong team player and colleague. .

On my drive home this morning, I listened to a great podcast by @thrivedvmpodcast that actually targeted one of my top goals!! How perfect!? It was on setting boundaries y’all! .

I made some big mistakes as a new grad that I thought would set me apart from others. I was WAY too accessible, and it totally burned me out. I answered calls/emails within an hour. I gave my email address away to too many clients. I answered medical questions via email. I stayed late seeing my patients, causing me to go home late and be tired the next day. .

Even though I loved doing these things for clients/patients I cared about, it totally ate into my own self care. It made me dread going to work the next day because I was tired. It made me not want to work out after work. I made poor eating decisions. I was grumpy to my husband. And the list goes on. .

Setting boundaries does not mean cutting people out. It means protecting yourself by being consistent. You can be approachable and reliable without being reachable at all hours. It is ok to tell a client you may not respond to emails for 3-5 days. It is ok to call a client with wellness lab-work results within the week. It is ok to tell your client to go to the ER when you close in 15 minutes. .

A mentor of mine once said “under promise and over deliver.” I love this, and it is the key to surviving a busy work week. I plan to take this with me to my new job so I am refreshed and positive at work each and every day for my clients, patients, and co-workers. ❤️

  • Tora is a gorgeous girl 💕 When her family noticed excessive grooming and some black specks on the fur, they brought her in for a skin check.

Dr Michelle Low examined a sample of Tora’s fur under the microscope - swipe 👈🏻 to see. Fortunately, these #furmites can be easily treated with topical parasite medication, especially in a one-cat household. Tora will be feeling much better soon! 💪🏻🐈 #creepycrawly #walkingdandruff #parasiteprevention #catlife

  • We probably all have an &Me story in us, don't we?
.
.
&Me is a mental health anti-stigma campaign for health professionals. .
.

I finally feel in a place to own and share my story- warts and all in the hope that if your story is similar to mine you will feel less alone and ask for help. I wish I had known others "like me" earlier on in my journey.

This photo is truly fitting with Champ at @kentishtowncityfarm
As it is there that I found my urban haven to be safely with my thoughts and around nature and animals. A grounding place for me. A security blanket of sorts.

This Friday I'm looking forward to joining a panel in the wellbeing stream at @spvsvets @vetmanagementgroup congress chaired by @clarebalding to share parts of my story alongside my fab peers regarding inclusion and equality in the workplace. 📝📝📝 "Sometimes I have to laugh at the voice in my head. Like, where have you come from? Who invited you? I can’t find you on my guest list…. That voice dishes out words that you would never dare utter and certainly NEVER give as advice to a friend so why do we listen to it?

Because unfortunately (or fortunately) it’s part of me. Just like the rest of my body. When it’s working and healthy it’s ace. But, when it’s broken it needs help getting fixed. Just like a broken leg needs rest and realignment so does my brain.

Believe it or not, I used to think depressed people had too much time on their hands. “I won’t get like that – got too much to do”

Can. You. Believe. It?! No wonder there is still stigma surrounding it!" .

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

  • Every time one of my baby vets gets their wings, I’m over the moon.
Because I remember what that felt like.
Getting in.
Seeing the words “you’ve been accepted.”
I remember wanting it more than
literally
anything.
And every time I get a message telling me someone got in, I feel that same feeling all over again for you. .
.
But I also remember what it felt like to see other people get what I wanted before I had it.
It stung a little. .
.
And I can’t help but feel like I might be making someone feel that when I post my stories congratulating my new baby vets.
I wish in those moments, someone would’ve told me that it just wasn’t my time—
yet.
But it would come.
And to keep persevering.
Keep trying.
Remember that I am still every bit amazing in my own right.
And not to compare myself
despite what anyone else’s stats are. .
.
For what it’s worth,
You’re brave for doing this.
You have chosen one of the hardest paths to walk.
Where you’re standing right now is lightyears farther than where you were a year ago and far behind where you’ll be in the next.
The process is hard, but trust it.
And trust me
when I say that it’s okay if your path isn’t linear. It rarely is.
Just keep the course. One day this path will lead to a million new, beautiful ones. And I promise those are ones you don’t want to miss 🤍
