Following my strop earlier on I have calmed down and am sincerely (not) sorry for the things I said when I was hangry. We've had another really busy and stressful day today, but traybake means all is forgiven 😁

Quorn cumberlands (which are so underrated), garlic and herb roast (frylight) new potatoes, and traybake made with red and orange peppers, mushrooms, white onion, tomatoes, smoked paprika, garlic, mixed herbs, ginger, salt and chilli flakes, topped with sainsburys cheddar - which I have to admit, I absolutely bloody love these days.

Isn't it weird how much your tastes can change and adapt? And how you can like something for ages and then suddenly not be able to stand them anymore? Why does it happen?!

A kind lady named Georgie found Arlo the pig living in terrible conditions in a shed but managed to save his life! Arlo was petrified when he was first rescued and would cower in the corner staring at the wall. But thanks to Georgie he has transformed and now plays happily and loves being cuddled.

Purezza is easily my favourite pizza place. Vegan or not everything is absolutely perfect! Garlic dough balls and garlic bread. Sorry @apinkalpaca of course I was going to eat all the dough balls. They're easily the best dough balls ever. So soft and fluffy and absolutely stuffed full 😋

For the main event I had one of not done before. Parmegana party. I obviously had a hemp dough base cos right now I'm on replenish mode and want to get all those fats, carbs, and proteins back in me. I can see why this pizza has won so many awards. Cait had a calzone. I wish I had the stomach for it, but after a hard run I just don't have the gut to eat volumes. But the good news is, left over pizza later! 🍕

Brighton has been amazing as ever. Can't wait to be back for a more chilled out day trip ✌️🌱

  • 🥛La verdadera cara de la industria láctea🥛

Ni la vaca es feliz, ni la vaca ríe. 
Ni están en una pradera, ni libres. 
Ni sanas, ni bien cuidadas. 
La vaca es impregnada una y otra vez artificialmente, violada, hasta que no pueda tener más hijos o producir más leche, en ese momento ya no servirá para la industria láctea, no interesa, así que será mandada a que le abran la garganta para que su cadáver sea empaquetado y consumido. Antes de ser enviada al matadero habrá vivido la peor experiencia de su vida, ver como le roban a sus bebés repetidamente. Los bebés serán separados de sus madres, privados de la leche que les pertenece, encerrados en cubículos con nada más que pienso para comer. Si nacen macho serán engordados lo más rápido posible y enviados con meses de vida al matadero, tampoco interesa, los machos no dan leche. Si nacen hembra sufrirán lo mismo que su madre, ser explotadas hasta que no puedan más por su leche, con grandes máquinas succionando sus ubres, causando mastitis (infección de ubres) y enviadas al matadero después. 
Viven en sus propios excrementos y pis, algunas de las vacas con graves enfermedades, sin tratar, dejadas a su suerte, porque solo son productos y no individuos. 
Esto es lo que hay detrás de la leche, el queso, los yogures, la mantequilla... Una vida de sufrimiento que parece eterna, dolor y al final muerte. 
La leche de vaca es para las vacas, sin embargo los humanos somos los únicos animales que beben de otra especie y además siendo adultos. Cada leche está especialmente diseñada para esa especie. 
Los lácteos son violación, robo, explotación y asesinato de bebés. •

  • Great official first days of trading over at @twistedbarrelale Brewery. I didn't sit down from 11am til 10pm and now my body is punishing me for it.

Luckily @anonymous.delinquent sorted breakfast and bought me flowers and then occupied himself with Spider-Man while I had an afternoon nap.

Back to the day job tomorrow and then it's 2 nights at The Juke followed by a day at The Lord Clifden. It's all worth it to hear the amazing feedback on @dirty_kitch 🤗

  • Very excited indeed about my fermented wild garlic, which is bubbling beautifully after a week.
This is just wild garlic and salt. All the liquid is from the plant itself. And twice I have had to get rid of some as it was overflowing. Shoving a knife down the side releases all the gases from the fermentation 
I have already started eating it...couldn't resist!

  • We were so impressed with the two restaurants we chose to sample for lunch and dinner yesterday that are part of April's inaugural @renoveganchefchallenge. 
We ate at Homegrown Gastropub for lunch and Zeppelin for dinner. The first four photos were our lunch choices and the last photos, dinner. We sampled the Red Lentil Falafel Cakes and Korean Ginger Scallion Jackfruit Tacos appetizers, the BBQ Ban Mi Sandwich with house made kimchi on a toasted baguette with hand cut fries, and pineapple upside down cake with ice cream and fruit for dessert. All super yum.

For dinner we sampled 5 different dishes - vegan tacos with mushrooms, avocado and charred tomato salsa, balsamic portabello sliders, BBQ jackfruit sliders, the vegan pie flatbread pizza - pesto, roasted tomato, red onion, house made vegan cheese, and Impossible Merguez - made from the Impossible Burger "meat" with Moroccan cauliflower couscous, Kesra bread and Harissa sauce. And ended with the chocolate cake with strawberry confit and coconut chantilly.

It was all amazing and so impressive. The presentation was a beautiful surprise. Both restaurants already have great vegan options on their menu but went above and beyond creating creative additions for the challenge. We'll be casting our votes and look forward to May's announcement of the winning dishes and prizes that will be given out to the restaurants.

This is a new event our friend and fellow vegan Gehn Shibayama organized, getting 27 restaurants to participate and create separate creative vegan menus - inspired by the very popular Sacramento Vegan Challenge and Vegan Burger Battle. The goal Gehn says is not only to showcase Reno eateries and promote more plant based eating, but to help show how popular and in demand healthy, tasty, satisfying vegan options are and encourage restaurants to keep these menus year-round.
