  • Ok let's do an exercise of user experience.
You are having dinner in a restaurant, how are you finding that place?
Did you find it well? And how? Draw up a user map since you decided to dine out instead of warming up the usual frozen pizza.

The place where I went is called the @1950americandiner (unfortunately, they didn't pay me), I already knew them. I saw the post on facebook about brunch, it intrigued me and I convinced a couple of friends to go there.
The place is convenient for driving but it is not train-friendly.
The inside if you look at the photos perfectly reflects what they want to convey, an American-style restaurant from the 50s or at least reflects what we are used to see in the movies (Americans don't kill me if that's not the reality). Let's go back to the user experience, it can be said that my user map is how they probably thought it.
Let us imagine their path:
First of all they will have done a research through surveys to their customers, trying to understand why there was less flow of users at weekends at lunchtime.

Let's pretend that the personas that came out of the search is a young man/woman between 20 and 30 years of age and that in general if he goes out with friends he book at dinner and not at lunch, unless he finds an offer for lunch.
So what the restaurant has done is to create an offer and a particular situation (brunch at an advantageous price) that can both intrigue and acquire new customers, and have more interactions with the old ones, which until then had only gone to lunch.

Tell me what you think about it with a comment or a pm! I'd love to have a conversation with other ux designer or aspiring like I am 😊

  • Keeping everything consistent is hard. Especially when there are many designers working on the same project.
Tips:
1. Create a UI Kit - This is a great start! Start by noting down elements that reappear in screens. For example, the pixel height, border radius, color of elements. Keep these elements stored somewhere and share it with the team
2. Create a Design System - a design system is an ever evolving document that serves at your one source of truth. It’s not only a UI kit, it also include the design philosophy and code excerpts for developers .
.
How do you keep your projects’ UI consistent? .

  • ⏲Use of loader/spinner creates a period of uncertainty for the user since the load time is unknown. It draws attention to the fact that the user is waiting. There is a sudden transition of the screen which makes the user confused and raises different questions in his/her mind.
__
📲It only takes 3 seconds for the user to abandon a product.
__
🖼Skeleton screens (i.e. temporary information containers) are essentially a blank version of a page into which information is gradually loaded.

  • Error messages are one of the main reasons for increased bounce rate and churn. They're often overlooked and come as an afterthought in the UX and copywriting process. Carefully thought-through error messages can have a strong impact on your site performance.
Have a look at the slides for some best practices for designing error messages and please share in the comments what tweaks you’d add.

  • Error messages are one of the main reasons for increased bounce rate and churn. They're often overlooked and come as an afterthought in the UX and copywriting process. Carefully thought-through error messages can have a strong impact on your site performance.

  • We hear the term 'Empathy' used a lot in the world of UX. But how does it relate to the design and tech world? 🤔

Empathy is the ability to understand other people’s feelings and emotions. The quicker we, as designers, can empathise with users the easier our task becomes. 😀

By understanding people's emotions we're able to create products that overcome their challenges and frustrations! 💯

  • Do you need a UX buddy?? 🐼🐻Now’s the chance to find one! 👇🏻
.
I found out that one of the best ways to learn the UX design 💪🏼 is through the practice and brainstorm. 👨🏻‍🎓
.
In the last week, I’ve been talking about why you should buddy-up with another designer to brainstorm together.🕵🏻‍♂️
.
Some of you asked how to find the UX buddy, so I thought I give you the platform to do so! 🚀 Now’s your chance! 🌈🌟
.
Comment below, connect with each other and let me know how did it work out for you. 🧡

  • It’s time for some beautiful colors! I genuinely enjoy nice gradients and think they can bring some live into the design when used and picked well (or can destroy it if picker poorly). Honestly, I’m not a master here, and often find a huge help in tools like grabient.com or uigradients.com

What about you? Please comment how do you select gradients, do you use them often and if which tools you use to pick the gradients?

  • What is your opinion here?
•
Search placement

If the primary action on the map is to search for something (taxi, food, place, etc.) it’s better to place it on the bottom of the screen to easy its reachability by the user. •

Password validation

Provide visibility to the password requirements and do not make user guess what exactly went wrong.
