  • An year ago on this day I was at the world's highest Jyothirlinga - Kedarnath.
The holiest Himalayan abode of Lord Mahadeva!
A serene and scenic place located at a height of 11,775 ft from the sea level, covered by the mighty Himalayan mountains - Kedarnath, Karchkund and Bharatkund from three sides.
Mandakini - The destructor-in-chief of the 2013 floods, rules the entire area of Kedarnath along with the other four rivers Madhuganga, Chirrganga, Saraswati and Swarndari.
The temple hit the headlines of newspapers and news channels during the 2013 Himalayan Tsunami which resulted in the death of thousands of lives. It was that time I decided to visit this place and it took 5 years and 40 days for me to finally fulfill my dream.
To witness the snow capped gorgeous Himalayan peaks in the background of this temple was one of my fantasies!

27th July 2018, Friday -
At 6 am I left Guptakashi the place where I was accomodated before leaving to Kedarnath. The first stop was Sonprayag from where I went to the next destination Gaurikund in a taxi.
Reached Gourikund at 7:45 am, I met Layak Ram - The Godawala who took the responsibility of taking me to the top on his Mule Peeli's back. He was accompanied by another Godawala Harish Mehra. The Godawalas walk 32 kms everyday along with the mules to earn their bread and butter.
It was a 4 hours Journey through the beautiful valley of Kedarnath - Covered with a dense forest, huge mountains and so many beautiful waterfalls formed by Mandakini.
The path is the toughest one as there are huge mountains on one side and abyss on the other.

Reached Jhopdi at 12 Pm - It is a place where the mules take rest and the visitors has to walk a little less than a km to reach the temple.
As I started walking towards the temple the fog started unrolling itself to prayer rug the mountains. Within next few minutes the entire temple complex was covered with fog.
