  • It's the 13th day since lockdown in my country. While most people are not allowed on streets, those who go out, return home just as quickly.
And like most people, I've stayed indoors for almost 12 compelete days in total during this lockdown. I've easily adjusted and given up a lot of my daily routine activities and hobbies, of which, tennis is one.
Living with parents, has given me the luxury of never being bothered to buy groceries or vegetables. Mom always took care of it.
But now, when we are all avoiding to leave the house, and I'm being adamant to let my parents go out (because of their age) I'm asking people to educate me on how to buy online. I meticulously place orders for vegetables and milk every alternate day to ensure that the stock does not get emptied.
Our days pass by when we don't even unlock the main door of our house. I often hear my dad's voice at night when he asks me to check if the main door is latched. And now my mom jokes, "Usha has fewer tasks today." Routines are pretty much set. We are getting comfortable with this new found monotony (until the circumstances enforce a new one on us.) As a family where everyone reads, we pass our time with books and discussing books and news, apart from my work. We finish our chores across the day, and in the evening we assemble to pray.
At dusk, when the super is being prepared, we have this one odd hour when we sit and discuss times and events. Political moves and administration. Geographically distant countries and their interests. Mostly I learn wisdom from them. (Side note, converse with elders, there is always so much to learn.)
They tell me about how the times were during 'Nav Nirma' and India-Pakistan war of 1971. And how we compare the society then and now.
There is nothing similar between the two eras, but only there is. If you look closely. Like war, this are unprecedented times. And we must fight it by following the footsteps of someone who has emerged as a winner through these trying times.
But above all, be kind and generous about your prayers too. Extend it to all and not just the ones suffering. Spread your love to all for it may not be a war, but we must find a cure.

  • And when everything will be over, the self-quarantine, the lockdown, the infection, the news, the tracker.
When the normalization will be back, the newspapers, the noise, the parks, the office, the no-sanitizer days. We are going to look back to this time and miss something.
.
.
50 years from today, when I'll look back in time, all I'll remember is how unusually calm the Spring of 2020 went by.
Without the children playing.
Without the late night trips.
And the surreally calm, but saddening streets.
.
But for now, I'm praying for all those struggling, praying for all the families in isolation. Praying that this ordeal ends soon. I'm appreciating all the frontline staff - the medics, life essentially stores, supermarkets, the bankers, the police, the municipal corporations, and the government. .

  • Hard times will be over some time. Soon.
Maybe.
Maybe not.
We will start our normal lives, complaining about the monotony. In near future.
Or in a year or two.
But God, let me not forget how lucky we are!
When the orders are to stay home, we didn't have to look for one.
In this small one, we have You.
And when the Sun goes down, we got You.
Always.
Because we know, You are just a prayer away.

  • WHO has declared #covid-19 as a pandemic. While doctors, nurses and researchers are tirelessly working to find a vaccine, we commoners are supposed to cooperate with the advices we've read, heard and been given to by the experts.
Most people my generation are sane and educated (I say educated and not literate) to abide by the safety precautions we know of.
We, also, already know that the virus spreads through surfaces, and not by air. (Probably a good thing, else the outbreak would have been even faster.) We also tlknow of the precautions government and health organizations have circulated.
What we are ignoring is some of our habits that aren't good, right now. I'm doing my part by sharing a few points, I feel my generation (and also generations after mine) should give up amidst this outbreak.

1. Wash your pair of Jeans (and every piece of cloth you wear) every day. EVERYDAY. Even if you've worn them only for two hours. Clothes when infected takes 8-10 hours to die.

2. If you are sick, avoid hugging your grandparents/elderly parents on weekends when you go home to visit them. That way you won't pass any germs to those aged humans - for whom the virus is a bigger risk than yourself.

3. Don't be crazy for sanitizers. Leave them for travellers. Use strong hand washes or soaps if you have water facility available.
4. Please close the tap while you wash your hands for '20 seconds.' You don't need to keep water running and waste it. We would need it even after the virus dies down.

5. Sanitize your phone. For God's sake, your phone has more germs than a toilet seat.
6. Stop over stocking daily supplies, (if you are in India) so that you don't create unnecessary price hike. Situation in the USA and Europe is far different than ours right now. We still don't have that emergency.

7. Stop making memes on #coronavirus or Covid-19. Seriously, it's not funny. You are getting people worried whose lived ones are abroad or in affected areas.
8. Stop spreading panic messages on social media. Everything is not a joke. Have some EQ.
9. Don't act cool that it won't affect you. Be precautious.
10. Add anything you can to this list for people our generation.

  • Sadness comes in waves.

At first, the thing that makes you sad bothers you to the very core. You cannot bear even the slightest and the remotest mention of it. Even a farfetched idea of it tears you into a million pieces. But as time passes, you train yourself to get over it because no one else is bothered not even your life. It goes on.

Then suddenly, on normal a Thursday afternoon at work, something that you read on the internet reminds you of it. A strange pain radiates from your chest up to your wrist and arms. It pinches. And then you tell yourself to forget it because you've to get back to work. The thought vanishes just as quickly and randomly as it surfaced. But at night, when you go home, this entire episode flashes in front of your eyes and you cannot do anything but feel excruciating pain in your heart. .
Sadness comes in waves.

One fine day when you are talking to your mom on the phone asking her about her wellbeing and a word she mentions reminds you of it. You sit down on the stairs so that you don’t fall apart literally. You sit down so that you become tiny in physical appearance thinking that this way not many can see that you feeling sad. Your voice shakes and you want to cry, but you tell yourself that your mom doesn’t need to worry about you so you gather the courage and talk softly and quickly end the phone call.
But soon as you put the phone aside, the very thought kills you and makes you want to curl up in your bed and scream. Especially when no one is listening!

Sadness comes in waves.

One fine cold Friday evening you are driving back home from a pizza party and you are parked waiting for the traffic lights to go green. You are listening to Christmas lights by Coldplay and your eyes catch a glimpse of road side begger with anguish and it reminds you of your sadness. You almost shed a tear, and the car behind you starts yanking horn you change the gear and set the wheel rolling.

But soon as you get on the highway, the anguish returns and you cry like a kid who scratched his knee while playing. You ave to pull over to get yourself back together before you drive.

  • As promised, my new post is up. .
.
Falling in love…with myself all over again!
.
.
All along in the history of literature, sunsets have been stereotyped and romanticized far too much. But oh! How sadly I say today, it’s only tainted. What remains of it today for the romantics is labyrinth of little distant noises and flickering city lights that we forcefully assume to be twinkling stars.

  • I've had bad days so I know the value of good ones.
I've seen times when I cried to sleep so I know what it takes to be strong.
I've suffered unexpected losses so I value wins more than anything else. .
And all these days I had only one constant, Him. I've fallen and got back on my feet because I prayed God to heal. .
I get my strength from Him and I shall not forget Him on days like this. 😀

  • I found myself standing at the window, staring into the thin air and sunshine, and smirking for more than 5 minutes today. When I got back to reality, I realized I didn't think about any person or a thing.
Surprisingly, all I had in my mind was the decisions I made, the feels I had when I i let go off people, the moments I have lived and the thoughts I've conceived.

I was automatically wearing a smile for quite sometime.

That's when I realized I've had heydays and I owe it to myself.

  • We all know a few people who tirelessly combat the otherwise visibly falling apart relationships just so that they do not have to be alone. Likewise, all of us had the misfortune to cross paths with the people who only resonated with our open and unhealed wounds. People who left unannounced soon as the scars did.

All relationships, whether parent-children, between siblings, friends, or even romantic, it is companionship that is often sought to stand guard the solitude of the other – just because we are terribly afraid to be alone.

In a world where everything is randomly occurring, journeys are distorted, and emotions are scattered, solitude is the only place of completeness. To each one of us, solitude may have different impacts depending upon our state of mind. But, overall, in complete solitude, one definitely experiences only singular kind of vibes – the one that is for you – uninfluenced, unadulterated by someone else’s presence and unpolluted.

  • Hello again!

Its Monday and my post is back again with more motivation. If you've been following me, you know I mostly write about second chances, breaking the pattern and staying optimist.
So, today I talk about life chances.
There have been plenty of second chances. But we couldn't nail them. That has been the habit for long. But not anymore.
Find the pattern in my hero's serving tactics. @rogerfederer
I hope this works as #mondaymotivation.
Love,

  • Some of us are finding soul-mates so desperately as if they are the redeemer of our sins and the uplifter of our wretched-selves. .
.
.
Every once in a while life has hit us low enough to make us see the surfaces that we thought didn’t even exist. These lows - merely disappointments and temporary denials for things we were expecting to become permanent in our lives – are capable enough to make us feel we are the sinners and wretched. And we make ourselves believe that whatever is left of us is only an aftermath of the storms so created. Only person that can save us is a guardian angel, a soul-mate!
However, not this time. Break the pattern. Let’s find that soul-mate within us.
