  • What's up everyone? Time for an honest conversation. 
I know that in the UX industry, we talk big-time about how important it is for companies to listen to their users and process that feedback back the product line. UX designers would be able to address usability issues, redesign it when needed; engineers could work on the bugs backlog; product managers could manage all those new requirements and opportunities, and so on. The truth is that for teams to work well within that proposition, a lot of UX maturity needs to exist in an organisation's culture. Otherwise, customers opinions may end up being ignored, tech and design will be created, an awful culture will be reiterated, and a fragile product will go to the market. 
As bizarre it may seem, this happens way more often than I would like to see. A reality that shatters professionals morale, motivation and productivity. 
The good news is that we can handle that fear in a strategic way, it will take time - I will not lie - but it can be done if you have your head in the right place, if you don't get it personal and if you go through all the necessary stages. - Start with baby steps: not all companies are ready to interview users, and you don't want to push it in that stage, this could go terribly wrong, and people would have nothing to compare, only the failed attempt. This could jeopardise the whole initiative and a second chance is very unlikely. So why not set up a focus group with internal staff? Value their opinion, you will probably find some very good tips and pain points that can be easily absorbed into a sprint and implemented. Teach them that listening to "users" is easy to get into "quick win" scenarios while more prominent features will take longer to show measurable results. It will also gain points with the focus group members. They will experience first hand the benefits of being listened, which will, later on, create the foundation to bring in real users. - Workshops are also an excellent way to educate people. If you are not in control of your departments budget, try to get some of it to order some sandwiches, snacks and drinks; maybe print some useful information about your... continue...

  • El card sorting es de nuestras pruebas favoritas de realizar. Es una prueba simple (lo que no quiere decir que no es compleja de diseñar), que muestra de manera muy clara, el modelo mental de los usuarios.

Los resultados siempre nos sorprenden, absolutamente nunca hemos realizado un card sorting donde no haya sucedido algo, que jamás se nos hubiera ocurrido y esa es justo la magia: nosotros los diseñadores nunca vamos a pensar exactamente como nuestros usuarios, por eso hay que hacer pruebas.

Aunque es una prueba sumamente utilizada, no hay una forma estandarizada de realizarla, pero por supuesto existe muchísima literatura sobre ella. Aquí es donde cabe decir, que la práctica hace al maestro.

Es una prueba de bajo costo y altísimo impacto, sumamente revelador, por favor, en la medida de lo posible, siempre valoren la posibilidad de aplicarla, nunca se van a arrepentir.

Por otro lado, aunque existen herramientas para hacer card sorting de manera virtual, presenciar de manera física, los gestos, las emociones, el lenguaje corporal de los usuarios es algo que se pierde a través de la pantalla y de ahí se obtiene una gran cantidad de información.

Finalmente, aunque el poder del card sorting es enorme, muchas personas y empresas no lo comprenden, porque tiene un peso cualitativo importante, pero sus datos se pueden leer de forma cuantitativa y esto sin duda, es la forma en que los diseñadores podemos defender de manera muy concreta, nuestras decisiones. Contradecir los datos, es más difícil que contradecir una opinión😉

  • I was listening to 'Jake and Jonathan's podcast this morning in my usual commute and Jonathan was talking about how his company runs with a 'test and learn' mindset, and little strategy.
.
While listening to him all I could think about was something I heard a few years ago, that changed how I think and behave:
.
👉 “If you’re trying, you’re not doing. You should stop trying and actually do it!”
.
As someone that overthinks, this is a constant challenge for me. But it is so true! We learn by doing, and by making mistakes.
.
Yes, planning is great, but acting is better. And that is very true for business as well.
.
No wonder that frameworks with a big focus on testing and learning became so popular in the last few years. The sooner you learn, the better, and cheaper.
.
But it's hard to fail. It's hard when your prototype doesn't pass the user testing, or your project doesn't go as well as expected, or your article doesn't get so many claps. It feels like you did something wrong. .
But that's not true. You learned.
.
And you didn't learn by trying. You learned by doing it.
.
And you should keep doing it! 💪

  • Review of SVR Topyalise: 1. This is eye cream which I get in @lookfantasticbox few months ago and as I hate shop for eyeproducts(they are expensive,small and unfortunately necessary for me) so I was excited ti get this one to test. 2. Also what made me happy was information that this is for irritated eyes as I had pair of those. 3. What made me less happy is fact that this cream is balling on me. I hate than product do so, as than it will ruin your make up ot if you do not wear any, than it will look like your skin peel off, so people keep save distance from you. 4. Its white cream with light cinsistancy, which absorbes quite quickly. 5. Also I was quite upset that during day I already feel dry around my eyes, so kevel of hydratation is quite low. 6. I did try it without any serum, with serum, for day, for night, under makeup and after face peeling(even you probably realize that you can not use peelings for eyes) ....behaving of cream was always the same. 7.   • Буквально вчера открыл для себя сервис по тестированию пользователей, который называется useberry.

Узнал о нем из новостной подборки, которую для меня формирует Feedly и телеграмм.
⠀
Могу сказать, что это наверное самый простой способ тестирования макетов, который может позволить себе любая компания.
⠀
Сейчас доступно 5 тестов
-По первому клику.
-По прототипу (простая задача)
-По прототипу (сложная задача)
-Открытая аналитика
-5 секундный тест

Работает очень просто.
Регистрируетесь, создаёте тест, через плагин настраиваете интеграцию макетов, я работаю с Figma, там с этим все просто, шарите ссылку и ждёте аналитику, которая тут же и формируется.

Все действия записываются на видео, считается время, количество кликов и факт успешного выполнения задачи. У меня заняло буквально 5 минут времени, чтобы запустить короткий тест и опробовать инструмент на коллегах.

  • Testować nauczyłem się idąc na żywioł – klient pokazał mi aplikację… poczułem, że jest sporo rzeczy, które warto poprawić aby biznes i doznania usera gdzieś się zbiegły.

Niestety nie byłem w stanie tego wytłumaczyć – wtedy zdecydowałem się, że opracuję scenariusz testu – hipotetyczną sytuację z określonym celem i zaproponuję przeprowadzenie testu.

Okazało się, że klient był bardzo zainteresowany stworzonymi nagraniami z testu oraz rekomendacjami na podstawie testów.

Najbardziej podstawową formą testu jest sytuacja, w której widzisz jak ktoś kogo znasz męczy się z używaniem tego co zrobiłeś. To wystarczy, ale wiadomo – lepiej mieć osoby pokrywające się z grupą docelową.

Malgré Shiara et Denis, malgré les difficultés pour avoir axure, et les détours par d'autre support, malgré mes difficultés à comprendre le c# et les caprices du matériel, mon TFE avance bien, il est même à l'heure. 
J'ai presque tout tester, ce qui reste ce fait demain et dans deux semaines le test global ou on confirme tout ça.

  • Review of Urban Decay lipstick: 1. I did buy one from Born to run edition in shade 66. 2. To be honest I am not such fun of packaging as everybody even I love to travel the quality seems to be quite lower than I saw in another UD lipsticks versions. 3. But the formula is quite OK , even its matte, but its not so drying as mac for example and not so balsamy cool as Tilbury is. 4. This is very opaque matte dark berry shade, so mostly for evening . 5. It does stamp. 6. Its not smudgeproofe. 7. Without parfumation. 8. Persistancy on lips is about 3 hours. 9.   • How do you know your design is ready for battle? Unless you test your work, your design is just a guess. A quick round of user testing can tremendously improve your UX design. User testing is a critical part of design thinking. Some prefer to test their designs in the ‘real world’, which is great but it’s actually quicker to do a round of gorilla testing then release it to the wild than to wait for real data.

  • UX designers, your attention, please! There is a new version of a unique UX feedback tool, and you can try it out for free! There are 3 demos available to see how it works.

This tool was one of the most exciting projects I worked on last year, and it's called Brainpeek 2.0. An analysis and feedback web-tool you can use to optimize your website or app. I designed this from scratch, including a new design system, while collaborating with the talented team of @thebraingineers. You've probably heard of Hotjar, with which you can analyze how your customers behave while visiting your website or app. Brainpeek does the same, but the behavior that you can examine is 'recorded' by a combination of eye-tracking and neurofeedback, and thus can track emotions!

Test participant's brainwaves are being analyzed, showing what people feel while experiencing your website or app instead of saying out loud what they think. The feedback is, therefore, more realistic, since the participant will not be bothered during the session. This is a unique experience and there is nothing like this out there. I'm proud to be part of this new version.

  • Well, I have something to say to the lightfastness of Tombow Dual Brush pens... It's not stated anywhere I believe, so this is just a user test and there are no hard feelings... First I thought the fading is due to a low quality paper (square sampler) and tried on a watercolour one. Both were exposed to daylight for several months... I recommend to your attention colour n°723 especially. (Usually closed notebook sampler for comparison)
Result: keep your tombow ABT artwork in your notebooks or portfolios :)

But, the key to really good research, is to be curious. Is to take a moment and take a step back and pretend like we don't know anything at all. ⁣

Tonight, I was on a call, and I'll be honest, I've never been more confused in my life! ⁣
This amazing company is creating an app that provides data recording, tracking and insightful pattern detection for children with autism.⁣
⁣
In the smallest nutshell, by each caregiver from the BCBAs to the behavioural technicians, reporting into one source. They can provide better, specialised and tailored treatment to children across the spectrum. ⁣
⁣
But, you know what I wouldn't be able to write this to you if I hadnt just sat there, played stupid and asked loads of questions!⁣
⁣
So often, we feel if we ask, it's a sign of weakness. I don't know if this comes from childhood or the educational system. But for some reason we are supposed to know all the answers, no sure how but maybe by osmosis or something?? 🤭
⁣
To become a great UX Designer, you must stay humble. Admit you don't know everything, know you don't have all the answers. Continually seek and explore until a solution is found.⁣

  • How do you know your design is ready for battle? Unless you test your work, your design is just a guess. A quick round of user testing can tremendously improve your UX design. User testing is a critical part of design thinking. Some prefer to test their designs in the ‘real world’, which is great but it’s actually quicker to do a round of gorilla testing then release it to the wild than to wait for real data.
