  • ‘More specifically, it is about how people feel about a product and their pleasure and satisfaction when using it, looking at it, holding it, and opening or closing it. It includes their overall impression of how good it is to use, right down to the sensual effect small details have on them, such as how smoothly a switch rotates, or the sound of a click and the touch of a button when pressing it.’ -

Planning and designing a journey that uses Open Banking is a little bit different as there are OBIE (Open Banking Implementation Entity) Guidelines in place, which bring together regulatory requirements and customer insight to create the Open Banking Standard for third-party providers, such as Compare the Market to follow.⁣⠀
⁣⠀
These Guidelines cover the full end to end authentication journey that the customer follows from within the Meerkat app, through to authentication within the provider, and then completion back in the Meerkat app.⁣⠀
⁣⠀
This said, I still followed the process of mapping out our own flows and wireframes as there is more to this feature than just connecting accounts inside the Meerkat App — I am designing flows and experiences that we don’t own several stages of.⁣⠀
⁣⠀
When planning and designing a journey, user flows are critical for a number of reasons. For me, the most important are:⁣⠀
⁣⠀
1️⃣ Faster iterations. Comprehensive user flows give us designers (and non-designers) a way to make changes faster. This is especially helpful when working on a native app experience where there are typically more screens to deal with.⁣⠀
⁣⠀
2️⃣ Better communication. We can keep the discussion focussed on the flow, not on moving pixels around our screens.⁣⠀
⁣⠀
3️⃣ Assisting developers/testing. Development teams will always have a source of truth for the screen logic, which also allows us to reference screen IDs for test cases.⁣⠀

  • From @andresvidoza This is the very first time I actually design for a project. I decided to tackle this challenge and seriously create a nice UI for my first web app. 👌🏽 About a year ago, I had learned a few things about design in terms of core concepts. I honestly think reading about it has helped me but the truth it that, I consumed a lot of content in terms of design. It eventually stimulates your brain! 🤯 You end up thinking like a "creator" and not like a programmer. I've applied this mentality to my videography and photography work. The more content you consume, the better your creativity will get! I like to think we all inspire eachother to create cool stuff 😄
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As we speak, my design is 99% done for the desktop! I have to design for mobile and change a few little things here and there 😆 I have to meet with my friend/"client" in order to discuss and review the design with him. I am honestly pretty happy with my progress right now! 🔥

Cuáles son las primeras cosas que aprendiste cuando arrancaste a diseñar UX? Crees que eso te impacto en tu vida diaria? Qué cosas te cuestionas que antes dabas por sentado?

  • The best kind of apps do not even make you work your facial muscles when you're trying to look for a feature. The search feature is an important one. Here are 3 apps that got it right and what you can learn from them. ⠀

  • From @lubosvolkov Are Wireframes Still Relevant for UI/UX Designers in 2020? Answer In The Post. 😱
___________
Wireframes are part of the design process for a very long time … However are they really still required for the successful design outcome?
___________
📐Wireframes allow you to focus on the problem?!
_____
Wireframes allow you to purely focus on the structure, messaging and actually help you to solve the problem before jumping into visuals … Colors, typography etc. are part of the user's experience but based on my experience it is better to follow a sequential approach … Where you first solve the big problem and then focus on the visual design … Wireframes give you the foundation for the next steps in the process.
.
⚡️Wireframes to be replaced with design system?!
_____
This can be a case in bigger organizations or already existing products with solid design systems … However, you are still dealing with the same distractions … You focus on visual things instead of the core of the problem … I still prefer creating simple wireframe or sketch to validate my idea before taking components from the design system … However if your design system is well crafted you could skip the wireframe phase and get to the desired results or testing phase faster. +

  • 🤔We need to discuss this.
———⁣
2 weeks ago I made a post on LinkedIn related to a tweet that states:
—
“If you’re trying to hire designers & require a portfolio, you’re not gonna get top talent.
Best designers don’t have them.
Too busy.”
—
Over 180 professionals commented, some agreeing that the best way to know a designer is by inviting them in and getting them talking, mostly because portfolios don’t say anything about your personality., conversations do. Others referring to it as a silly quote.
—
I have always tried to keep my CV and portfolio updated, to be honest, I was never asked for it, at most I shared my experience on 1-2 projects, so I stopped doing it 2 years ago, so for me the quote makes sense. What about you?
—
❓What are your thoughts about this, on which side do you stand and why?
