  • There's more to being a warrior than killing. A true warrior the best warrior isn't cruel or mean. He doesn't claw an enemy who can't fight back. Where's the honor in that

  • I spy with an urban eye, a human-built animal space from Space!

The Queens Zoo is an 18-acre zoo located in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens, New York City.
The perspective here is that of the geodesic dome atop the Zoo's aviary. The dome is from the 1964 World's Fair, which was held in Flushing Meadows.
This awe-inspiring dome, not much captured and reposted over @instagram , has a controversial design existence- some claim that the Buckminster Fuller we all read about in our high school Science textbooks, designed the dome. But, in reality, the dome was partly designed by a less-famous architect of the time- Thomas C. Howard, and partly by the architects- Eggers & Higgins of New York.
Who could have thought a dome ceiling of a bird confinement would have a controversial history!

  • February 12 marks the birth centenary of Charles Robert Darwin. Hailed for his revolutionary ideas on evolution and natural selection, Darwin and his fellow travellers embarked a journey from dockyards on the River Thames to the Galápagos Islands. The famous journey on board the second voyage of the vessel of the Royal Navy - HMS Beagle, however made several other halts in between.

Isabela Island is one of the Galápagos islands (an archipelago of volcanic islands distributed on either side of the equator and part of the Republic of Ecuador). On the west coast of the island is the picturesque Darwin Lake, which is located a few kilometres south of the famous Tagus Cove of the island and west of the Volcano Darwin. It is believed that in the 1800s sailors disembarking on the west coast of the island left names of ships on the walls of rocks. In 1950s, Walt Disney left a graffiti of Mickey Mouse whilst visiting the island.
In remembrance of Darwin, we launch the project-
The Spatial Perspectives, capturing diverse perspectives through spaces on Earth.
In the coming week, we will be sharing other intriguing perspectives of spaces travelled by Darwin on HMS Beagle. Wonder, Wander the World 🗺 with thespatialperspectives
