  • I DID IT ! 🎉

  • I’m celebrating National Red Wine Day with a glass of Cabernet tonight! Red wine, in moderation, may have some health benefits, but it’s ability to stain teeth is troublesome. Acid combined with the tannins and anthocyanins (red pigment) in red wine are responsible for your teeth turning purple when you sip on that glass of Pinot. Read on for some things you can do (and something you shouldn’t) to help mitigate the effects of red wine on teeth:
1. Brush your teeth prior to drinking wine to remove plaque. Plaque gives the anthocyanin something to stick to, making the staining worse.
2. Rinse with water after drinking red wine to dilute and flush out the wine left in your mouth. (It’s good to drink water when drinking wine to stay hydrated anyway!)
3. Eat something while you sip your Syrah. The food you eat acts as a natural mechanical cleanser for your teeth and stimulates saliva. Cheese and wine is a no-brainer. Cheese, with its waxy texture, may help even more by sealing the pores of your teeth to prevent the pigments from penetrating your enamel.
4. Do NOT brush your teeth immediately after drinking wine, as the acids in the wine make the teeth more vulnerable and you don’t want to brush away your enamel. Always wait 30 minutes before brushing.
5. Long term red wine drinking can lead to more permanent staining, in which case you may need professional teeth whitening (which we offer!), like take-home trays or in-office whitening. •

  • Onto tha next one, onto tha next one 🎼 On a serious note.... wow, I graduated from UCLA yesterday and know I would not have been able to accomplish what I have accomplished without all of the amazing people in my life — pictured and not. Special shout out to my dad for supporting, financing (💰), and instilling in me the importance of my education. Also grateful for the go-getter attitude my mom passed down to me and wish she could have been here to see me graduate from one of her alma maters. Go Bruins! 🐻

  • Harry spent twelve months studying abroad at UCLA and absolutely loved his experience there. I created Harry’s Polaroid board for his 21st birthday party, based on the UCLA decals he brought back home to Australia for his parents’ cars.
.
I handlettered Harry’s name to reflect the UCLA logo and layered @Kassa’s vinyl to create the shadow effect. It was quite fiddly but I loved the fun and themed result.
.
Prior to Letter Me, I worked in the Office of Admissions at @unimelb and would often advocate studying abroad. I really loved working on this project for Harry’s 21st birthday - it might sound silly but I felt somewhat connected to my “past life” in tertiary education. Hearing how positive Harry’s experience was brings back fond memories of working with students. Have you studied abroad? I’d love for you to share where you went and tell us about your experiences!
