  • GIVE ME SPACE!!! To hold the silence of my pain and swallow it, is the most gut wrenching pain I continuously go through. To feel rushed to leave the room while in pain, as a patient , I NEED SPACE!! How many times after an appointment or procedure do you feel like you need time for yourself? Your doctor/tech didn’t give you time to process what just happened? Leaving you with anxiety and bottled up emotions. Then they have the nerve to tell you, take you time but repeat that sentence 5 times in the same minute before they leave room. GIVE US SPACE!! We need a few minutes to process the time we just were waiting for is now over and now I just leave. Most of us wait long periods of time to see these physicians/ techs and to get treated like a car wash service. We need to cry our pain that you us through, because we are too brave to show you our tears, or we need a minute to breathe from the results you just gave, so we apologize NOT if we are taking our time composing ourself in this room. GIVE US OUR DAMN SPACE!!!

NOTHING better
than starting my day
with a sammie
made with a
@belmarbagels 🥯
sesame pumpernickel bagel!
I used half of
an avocado,
lox 🐟,
everything bagel seasoning,
and broccoli sprouts 🌱
from @rolling_hills_farm
(which I snagged from
@asburyfresh
on Sunday).
the combo reminds me
of a salmon avocado
sushi roll 🥑
with the added bonus of
salty, onion-y seasoning
and crunchy, fresh sprouts.
the folks at
@belmarbagels
are so lovely and welcoming
and their bagels are
the best in the area
by far 💯
(and I’m from NYC
so I KNOW bagels!!).
if you’re nearby,
stop in and
try one for yourself!
just make sure you tell them
Lisa says hello!! 👋🏻

  • Mom stop telling so funny jokes, I can’t stand it, and yes, I know I’m shaved on the stomach, that nurse did it, I will bite her the next time, really hard😾. But I am fine now. Purr to you all and have a nice day🤗😻.

knowing me,
you might think
I’m enough of a
#stickerlover
to vote just for the
sticky accessory 😂
but I’m also
a firm believer
in the importance
of voting! 🆒
it’s super dark out
here now but,
don’t let the
lack of light fool you,
there is still time!
got to go with 👽
after our
doctor’s appointment/
lunch date
(the most
grown up version
of romance imaginable 🤪)
and it only took
a few minutes. 💯
if you’re able
and haven’t yet,
I’d really encourage you
to use your voice 🗣,
stand up for your beliefs,
and go vote
(even if it’s just for
the cool sticker. 😘)

  • It’s NOW official officially start of autumn for me so I finally feel like I can get autumny now (fally for my friends across the pond 😉) I love autumn it’s my favourite season however, I wasn’t quite ready for summer to end this year (everyone seemed to feel Sep 1st meant autumn but, it’s always the end of Sep it really begins). It’s was a particularly tough summer for many reasons and I was wanting to cling onto it for a long as possible. I’m ready now to let go and embrace the autumn feel. ⁣
⁣
Also, perfect time to do an update of an older doodle. I think this has to be my favourite thing I’ve created when it comes to Spoonie Village. Except when I did the original I didn’t have the energy to complete it as anything like I wanted to. I couldn’t sit up for long and it was like first take meant it was final take. My perfectionist mind had a lot of learn (still learning)😅 so as a mark of progress and to honour the season I did a redraw because I have a bit more energy to take my time with it and edit it a bit more. ⁣
⁣
I have another goal now that I have updated it and that’s to create it into a pin! In fact I have so many ideas it’s all been a bit crazy lately and frustrating. There is so much going on behind the scenes and we’re doing everything we can to pull it together for an announcement not too far away! ⁣
⁣
We’re doing all we can to fundraise at the moment as we’re going to need it! Calendars will be released on the 1st October! 👀 and we’re super exciting to unveil them, so keep an eye out you lovely lot for so many updates and news to come over the next couple of months! Also the shop sale will end on the first so to help us out and treat yourself in the process head over to snap up a bargin! 💖

  • “I'm coming to terms with a broken heart
I guess that sometimes good things fall apart” ...then you go to vet attendant school and fill it (‘it’ being your heart) with puppies then continue on to be an RVT (at least that’s the plan)

I’m fine tho, that songs just been stuck in my head a lot lately

Anyway, I’m posting this off my story because it relates to a conversation I literally just had about things like this:

Why is it that we always look our best when we’re feeling our worst? Like naturally, not all super done up, or hey that too fuck it, y’all know what I mean. Not saying everything sucks, just saying that transitions can be real hard and sometimes seeing yourself look way better on the outside than how you actually feel on the inside makes you feel real good about yourself and your situation at hand, ya know?

I just used the forward facing camera on my iPhone (XR). No foundation or any face make up. Just that same mascara from target and some eyebrow stuff. I was gonna use a filter (Paris is my go to) but I didn’t cause it made my skin look pink

So on that note: whatever you’re going thru, you’re not alone. There’s always someone else going thru something similar, and even more people going thru worse.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to keep saying I’m going to study when I’ve just sat here for however long to write this novel caption 🤓

  • WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY 🖤

For me one of the hardest parts of #chronicpain is the effect that is has on your #mentalhealth 🧠

Having a #chronicillness is like carrying around a heavy rucksack all day, it could be filled with many things which are probably different for us all, but what they are all doing is weighing us down. For me the frustration of waiting so long for a diagnosis, the tiredness from not being able to sleep, the fatigue from #endometriosis, the worry from not being able to work every day and the financial pressure of never having enough money to pay the bills, the loneliness from feeling like nobody understands. I could go on but it’s reasons like this that make it hard for people to feel positive, hopeful or just able to enjoy their day.

Once I had my diagnosis at 27 some of that pressure lifted and I started to see the connection between how my poor health had shaped my life in my 20’s. I at that time had no idea Endo would return and 4 surgeries later at 37 I had just had enough of being stuck in a cycle of pain/worry/surgery and decided on the #hysterectomy as I had just had enough of it all!! It was only at point that I actually fully understood the impact of it all, I started crying on the way home from the hospital and didn’t stop for about 2 weeks. By that point the GP signed me off work and I took some time for myself, had the surgery and then afterward had some counselling with a wonderful woman who validated all the shit I had put up with since my teens and helped me to start to heal 🖤🖤 since that surgery life has changed so much, I don’t really even recognise who that Katie was which is sad in one respect but also I have grown now into who I wanted to be, and will continue to do so 🖤

I see so many of you now struggling in a similar way and it makes me feel sad, as with more support I do believe that we could still thrive with #chronichealth but unless we are listened to and supported it’s a huge challenge for that to happen. I hope that the recent @bbcnews report will start to bring about the change you all deserve. For now I will continue to support you all through @endohappy 🖤 none of us are ever alone Xx
