  • the sound of the crashing waves is music to my ears
the salty water washes away all my fears
take me where the sunset meets the horizon
give me back the freedom the city stole from me
.
.
you know, it's different every time
craving for the same feeling, id never tire
it's saying: "leave here your worries; they're mine."
with just the smell of the ocean and im fine
.
.
the sun heals every dying hope
it fills the cracks of broken souls
the only place i can put my guard down,
be myself, change myself, here i can do it all
.
.
we hustle in the concrete jungle
we run back to where we truly belong
a home that doesnt need escaping
we got lost somewhere, what were we even thinking? .

  • I grew up without any concept of travel for leisure. I was raised in Batangas, famous for its beaches. Yet, in the first 22 years of my life, I only remember 2 instances when I found myself at a decent beach: one, when i joined a boy scout camping trip in Calatagan in grade school, and two, when I WORKED in Matabungkay when I was 22. Haha. When we were young, we never concerned ourselves with where to go next weekend. We worried about how to earn money. It wasn’t until a few years ago when I got to see the beaches in our province purely for leisure. We always say, travel is not just for the rich. It’s true, yes. But at the end of the day, we have to acknowledge that travel is a luxury. If you want a good getaway, you need to spend. Eveything comes with a price tag these days. Almost every place has an entrance fee. Getting from point A to point B costs something. If you’re young and you get to travel, be grateful. Not everyone is able to do it no matter how much they want it. - @yoshke .

  • #NowWereHere at #MasasaBeach, and wow! What an improvement. Much better than the last time we were here.

According to the locals we talked to, there was a townhall meeting that involved town officials, transient house owners, tricycle drivers, and boatmen. Rules for both tourists and locals were put in place, cleaning assignments and schedules were set, and number of visitors is monitored. There are now huge trash bins everywhere. There's still some trash in some parts, but the #beach is generally clean. "Sa totoo lang po, hindi ko po maintindihan dati kung ano ang maganda dito sa lugar namin," said one of the vendors we talked to. "Parang pangkaraniwan lang po sa amin. Pero ngayon, malaking tulong ito sa amin at dapat na alagaan talaga. Kami po ay nagpupulot na rin ng basura." Kudos to the people of #Tingloy, #Batangas! This is a good start! #iphone #iphone6 #iphoneonly πŸ“Έ @yoshke

  • Masasa Beach | Tingloy Island, Batangas
.
If you find the main stretch of Masasa Beach too crowded, just walk a kilometer or two to the north. Behind the stunning walls of white rocks are small picturesque coves with soft cream sand, clear water, lesser or no crowd, and great view of sunset.
.
How to get to Masasa Beach:
- Bus from Buendia (or Cubao or Alabang) to Batangas Grand Terminal (P157/pax, 2 hours)
- Jeep from Batangas Grand Terminal to Anilao Port (P40/pax, 45 minutes)
- Boat from Anilao Port to Tingloy (P80/pax, 1 hour)
- Tricycle to Masasa Beach (P60/trike, 10 minutes)
.
Tips:
- Public boat from Anilao to Tingloy departs as early as 7AM during peak season to as late as 430PM.
- Return trip from Tingloy to Anilao starts as early as 6AM and as late as 230PM
- You can do it as a day trip from Metro Manila or Southern Tagalog
- You can trek to the summit of Mount Mag-Asawang Bato, the highest point in Tingloy Island. Guide fee is P100/person (minimum of two), at least 1.5 hours of trekking going up.
- Accommodations in Tingloy are pretty basic, you may also camp along the beach or you may stay in the dive resorts in Anilao and do a day trip in Masasa
