  • Well, I made it. Sort of. I'm currently sitting in the international terminal of the Zurich waiting for my flight to board. Somehow lost the exit row seat but what can you do? I'm reluctantly leaving J in Switzerland for the next month so he can do "really important job training" or whatever. 🙃 It's not the longest we've been apart but I never like it. I'm just so grateful I could come on at least part of this trip with him. .
.
I'll probably have some more reflections once I get some sleep and some California sunshine. Zurich isn't the most touristy city in the world, but it is beautiful and I had a lot of fun wandering around the city for the last few days by myself. The alps were breathtaking and probably my favorite part of the whole trip. We will be back here a couple of times a year so I'll be able to branch out a bit more then. I did get quite a few interesting photos of the architecture and streets here though and I'm excited to share those. .
.
I definitely had a few surreal "Is this really my life right now" moments this month. Five years ago a splurge for me was adding guac to my burritos for that extra dollar. It still amazes me where life has taken me. Don't limit yourself. Really. The imposter syndrome hits me hard sometimes but I know that even if I fail at something, I'll be okay. So even though I'm afraid sometimes to say yes to new things, I've had some incredible experiences because of it.

  • This is probably one of the most photographed places in the state. And while there are only so many camera angles to be shared, the way each person *sees* it will always make it unique. From my point of view, I have a sense of awe at the stunning blue-green of the water; pride at tackling my longest post-injury hike at the time, solo; fear at walking past a mama bear and her cub as the sun went down; relief at making it back to my car without getting lost or eaten; and appreciation for this beautiful corner of the planet I get to call home. We may all post a familiar shot from the outside, but our experience of it inside will always reveal a new angle. To those who have been here, what do *you* see in this place?

  • Travel bug is biting hard. And at the same time, I’m so grateful for where I am and for where I was. My love for this desert state is absurd. .
.
Sometimes I feel like this instagram is one long love letter to Arizona.

  • :: notes on following your soul // anxiety when you’re out of alignment ::
full post linked in bio
.
there is a crushing sensation in my chest. a pressure in my ears that makes me feel as though i am swimming in deep waters. it is the anxiety that is triggered every day by doing something that is out of alignment with me. and the deepest desire to throw my hands up and quit. but knowing that it is not an option in the near future.
.
this is a reminder that happiness is more important than expectations and obligations. we often hold onto something that’s no longer serving us because of the time and/or money we have already invested. whether that be a career, a relationship, a project.. we have this obsession with follow through and can let these expectations dictate our life. but if you could erase all of that, realized it didn’t truly matter, would that give you what you need to make a change? we have more freedom than we think. and everything it takes to get there is 100x more bearable when you are driven by passion, rather than obligation. the fear of change and the work that is required - it doesn’t feel the same when it is for something that you are craving with every ounce of your existence.

  • Whenever I travel to a place I’ve already been, I like to challenge myself to take a photo I never have before... Maybe it’s a different composition of a similar scene, maybe it’s a completely new take on a familiar place for me. Sometimes I fail, for various reasons, but sometimes I succeed... Heavy wildfire smoke blanketed the Olympics on this day, creating layers in the mountains I’d never seen before. Midday light streaked through the valley, a place I’ve walked many times, and allowed me to capture something I otherwise would have never been able to
