  • Buffalo Bills Draft Prospect:
TE T.J. Hockenson, Iowa
Height: 6’5”
Weight: 250 lbs
Age: 21 years
-
Arguably the top and most talented TE prospect in this year’s draft is T.J. Hockenson out of Iowa. People have compared him to some of the best TEs in the league and some that have played before such as Gronk, George Kittle and Travis Kelce. All of which are incredible comparisons and prove that Hockenson is something to be excited about. Most analysts say that Hockenson has extraordinary speed, as well as incredible strength and hands, all of which come with a large Gronk-like frame that rounds him out to be a top prospect. Hockenson is certainly an option at the 9th selection and possibly a trade-down target.
-
Hockenson’s 2018 Season Stats:
•13 games played
•49 receptions
•760 receiving yards
•6 receiving TDs, 1 rush TD
•1 rush attempt, 4 rush yards
-
Hockenson’s CFB Career Stats:
•23 games played
•73 receptions
•1,080 receiving yards
•9 receiving TDs, 1 rush TD
•2018 Ozzie Newsome Award
•2018 First-Team All-Big 10
•2018 John Mackey Award
•2018 Kwalick-Clark Tight End of the Year
-
Even though Hockenson has only played for 2 season in the Big-10, he’s had a very decorated CFB career. Hockenson and Noah Fant (the other 1st round TE prospect out of Iowa) are something to be excited for in the NFL. I’d be happy if we were to land Hockenson in a trade back in the mid-first round (15-20) and there were none of the top prospects left, (OT Jonah Williams, DT Ed Oliver).

  • Buffalo Bills Draft Prospect:
RB Josh Jacobs, Alabama
Height: 5’10”
Weight: 216 lbs
Age: 21 years
-
One position we haven’t talked about yet that can certainly be considered as a potential ‘need’ is RB. Josh Jacobs has been recognized by some as the best RB in this year’s class. Jacobs is a well-rounded player who is effective in both the run game and the pass game also. Jacobs is a very patient runner who is very good at following his blockers and finding the open holes that his blockers give to him. Jacobs also can be a powerful runner, giving extra effort to gain a couple more yards on plays, which is a very good trait to have and will carry with him as he moves on to the NFL. One issue that Jacobs has had over his CFB career, according to Draft Analysts is that Jacobs has a hard time adjusting speed to make or break the holes which has caused him to lose yardage and/or not maximize play potential. This issue should be fixable by good coaching in the NFL by getting more experience at that high level.
-
Jacobs’ 2018 Season Stats:
•15 games played
•640 rushing yards, (120 attempts)
•11 rushing TDs
•20 receptions
•247 receiving yards
•3 receiving TDs
-
Jacobs’ CFB Career Stats:
•40 games played, (3 seasons)
•251 rushing attempts
•1,491 rushing yards
•16 rushing TDs
•48 receptions
•571 receiving yards
•5 TDs
•2017 CFB National Champion
•2x SEC Champion, (2016, 2018)
•SEC Championship Game MVP Honor
-
Jacobs had a very successful and standout CFB career at Alabama and will look to continue that in the NFL. I’d be a big fan if we landed this guy in the 2nd round as RB has become our biggest need besides OL after our huge FA negotiations and signings. Jacobs could go anywhere in the Mid-1st Round - 2nd Round in this year’s NFL Draft.

  • Buffalo Bills Draft Prospect:
LB Devin White, LSU
Height: 6’1”
Weight: 240 lbs
Age: 21 years
-
Another defensive player that has been mocked to the Bills a few times in LB Devin White out of LSU. If the Bills decide to go this route it would really solidify our LB core even more and would be a great replacement piece for Lorenzo Alexander when he retires. White is one of the top LB prospects, if not the best in this year’s class. He is a very quick player, running a 4.42 at the Combine and also a strong player putting up 22 reps on the bench and is just an all-around athlete and would certainly make our team better. White was a RB coming out of HS though so his instincts as a LB aren’t as good as others who have maybe played the position longer but they aren’t a huge deficit to his game. Obviously there are greater positions of need so it wouldn’t necessarily be the smartest pick, depending on who is still on the board but like I said before, White is a heck of a player.
-
White’s 2018 Season Stats:
•13 games played
•123 tackles, 62 solo
•3 sacks
•3 forced fumbles
•2 fumble recoveries
•6 passes defended
-
White’s CFB Career Stats:
•34 games played
•286 tackles, 114 solo
•8.5 sacks
•1 interception
•4 forced fumbles
•3 fumble recoveries
•9 passes defended
•2x First-Team All-SEC Honors;2017, 2018
•2017 Second Team All-American
•2018 Consensus All-American
•2018 Butkus Award Winner
-
White had a very successful CFB career and will look to continue that in the NFL. White is a great all-around player and I expect him to be a very good LB in the league. White could be picked anywhere from the Early 1st round-Mid 1st Round. I think it would be a great addition if the Bills are able to take care of most of their Offensive needs in FA where what they’re looking for is what they can get in later rounds in the Draft.

  • Potential Free Agent Signing:
WR Tyrell Williams, Chargers
Height: 6’4”
Weight: 205 lbs
Age: 27 years
-
One of the top Free Agent WRs on the market this year is Tyrell Williams. Williams has had a couple successful seasons in the league but hasn’t really shown much in terms of production to make him WR1 material. This could be because of Williams being shadowed by other receivers on the Chargers over the past few years such as Keenan Allen and Mike Williams but maybe he could have more production in a different system or on a different team.
-
Williams’ 2018 Season Stats:
•16 games played
•41 receptions
•653 receiving yards
•5 receiving TDs
•2 rush attempts, 15 rushing yards
•2 fumbles
-
Williams’ Career Stats:
•52 games played
•155 receptions
•2,530 receiving yards
•17 receiving TDs
•3 fumbles
-
Williams hasn’t had the most flashy career in terms of stats but maybe we could see improvement if we took a chance on him for a reasonable price that’s not too expensive. I’d be ok with signing him to a 2 year deal worth $10-$12 million. I think if this is something Beane is looking at then I say we give it a shot.

  • Buffalo Bills Draft Prospect:
WR Kelvin Harmon, NC State
Height: 6’2”
Weight: 220 lbs
Age: 22 years
-
Another great WR prospect in this year’s draft that the Bills have also met with at the NFL Combine is Kelvin Harmon out of NC State. I like Harmon as a mid-round pick, as early as the 2nd round. Harmon is a great player at finding ways to get open off his route and plays with a lot of physicality. He is also very good at making contested catches and can make those tough over-the-top catches. Harmon does struggle with foot quickness and man coverage off the line, especially press coverage but I think that could be fixed with good coaching in the league.
-
Harmon’s 2018 Season Stats:
•12 games played
•81 receptions
•1,186 receiving yards
•7 TDs
•1st in receiving yards for ACC
-
Harmon’s CFB Career Stats:
•35 games played
•177 receptions
•2,665 receiving yards
•16 TDs
•2017 Second Team All-ACC
•2018 First Team All-ACC
-
Harmon’s college stats look really good, especially from this past season. If the Bills decide to go OL with our first round pick, I’d be happy if we landed this guy in late-second round or third round.

  • Buffalo Bills Draft Prospect:
OT Greg Little, Ole Miss
Height: 6’6”
Weight: 325 lbs
Age: 21 years
-
Yet another great OL prospect in this year’s draft is OT Greg Little out of Ole Miss. Little is a powerful blocker with speed and agility mixed in to make him a top round talent. Little has been seen to knock down and pancake multiple defensive pass rushers as they get in front of him. There has also been reports that Little was very raw coming out of the 2017 season but cleaned up his game and fundamentals going into the 2018 season and it made all the difference. Little was one of the top players in his final CFB season which makes him one of the more highly sought out players in this year’s draft.
-
Little’s CFB Career Honors:
•36 games played
•2018 All-SEC First Team Honors
•2017 All-SEC Second Team Honors

C Mitch Morse, Chiefs
Height: 6’6”
Weight: 305 lbs

One of the top FAs this year and one that I think should be our top priority is interior-OL Mitch Morse. Morse is a relatively younger player who I think would be a great addition to an O-Line that has been almost dreadful at points last season.
-
Morse’s NFL Career Honors:
•49 games played
•2015 All-Rookie Team
-
Morse was drafted back in 2015 so he’s only been in the league for a few years which is why there is so few stats and honors. But it may prove well for longevity reasons which may prove Morse to be a better option than Matt Paradis.

  • Buffalo Bills Draft Prospect:
OT Cody Ford, Oklahoma
Height: 6’4”
Weight: 310 lbs
Age: 22 years
-
Another great OL prospect in this year’s draft is Sooners OT Cody Ford. Ford is a solid option at the RT position and plays with a very powerful style. He works very well against bullrushes and other power moves of that sort which makes him great for run blocking. One thing Ford could improve on is protecting against speed rushers. His footwork isn’t very clean when it comes to protecting against quick pass-rushers which could pose issues at first but is something that can be fixed with good coaching.
-
Ford’s 2018 Season Honors:
•2nd Team All-Big 12 Honors
•3rd Team All-American Honors
-
The reason there is only 2018 stats is because that is the only healthy season Ford played. Ford suffered a broken fibula in 2017 which caused him to miss that entire season. Only playing 1 full season could be a turn away for some NFL teams but Ford did have a standout year regardless.

His footwork isn’t very clean when it comes to protecting against quick pass-rushers which could pose issues at first but is something that can be fixed with good coaching.

  • Buffalo Bills Draft Prospect:
DT Ed Oliver, Houston
Height: 6’3”
Weight: 291 lbs

One of the top prospects in this year’s draft and someone who has been mocked to us a ton lately is Ed Oliver out of the University of Houston. Oliver was projected to be one of the top picks at one point but his stock fell due to behavior issues. Regardless of that, Oliver is still an unbelievable athlete and will be a great player wherever he goes and I think if he can have a supporting cast, unlike the situation he had at Houston, there won’t be many behavior issues like we’ve seen before.
-
Oliver’s 2018 Season Stats:
•8 games played
•54 tackles, 29 solo
•3.0 sacks
•1 forced fumble
-
Oliver’s CFB Career Stats:
•32 games played
•192 tackles, 122 solo
•13.5 sacks
•5 forced fumbles
•1 fumble recovery
•2016 AAC All-Freshman Team
•2016 AAC Freshman of the Year
•2017 AAC Defensive Player of the Year
•3x First-Team All-ACC Honors
•3x First-Team All-American
-
As you can see from his stats and his honors, he is a VERY good player and I would be happy to draft him at pick 9. His talent level is top 5 at least, and you could argue top 3 possibly.

  • Potential Free Agent Signing:
OLB Jadeveon Clowney, Texans
Height: 6’5”
Weight: 255 lbs

One of the top FA prospects this year is LB Jadeveon Clowney from the Houston Texans. More than likely, barring any unusual circumstances, the Texans will lock Clowney up with a long-term deal. But if that rare occasion occurs, this is what this post is for.
-
Clowney’s 2018 Season Stats:
•15 games played
•47 combined tackles, 38 solo
•9 sacks
•1 forced fumble, 3 fumble recoveries
•1 defensive TD
-
Clowney’s NFL Career Stats:
•62 games played
•205 tackles, 151 solo
•29 sacks
•4 forced fumbles, 6 fumble recoveries
•2 defensive TDs
•3x Pro Bowl selection
-
Clowney is a great player, with good stats and would be a GREAT signing for the Bills. The only problem is the opportunity to do so more than likely won’t present itself as the Texans will want to lock him up as soon as possible.
