Yesterday during our evening session, we stopped for a break from the workout to introduce ourselves to the team. I loved the fact that my participants are in the program for so many different reasons. Some to lose weight, some to become fitter, some to make friends, etc. 💛

When it was my turn, the question was why do I run the Lose Weight and Gain Life program?
6 years ago, I embarked on my personal journey to health and fitness. I was a stay at home mom in that season of my life. I was slightly overweight and struggled with self esteem issues because I felt I wasn't beautiful enough. In 2014, I lost 20kg on my own by pushing myself to be physically active for 1 hour everyday and I read extensively on nutrition to educate myself. My personal journey inspired friends and family who then embarked on their own journeys to health & fitness. Eventually, I studied Fitness & Nutrition and returned home to start a Women's Wellness/Fitness program. From Zumba Fitness to now the Lose Weight and Gain life program, which I created.

What is the most valuable lesson I've learnt on my journey in the past 6 years? That there is absolutely nothing that I cannot achieve if I work for it! Fitness is so much more than weight loss. It's about building a more resilient you! The journey to becoming fit is very hard. If you don't give up, the new version of you is more determined, more focused, you have grit! You come to a point in the journey where "I don't give up!" is a part of every area of your life! You are physically fitter & healthier but you are also mentally stronger! 💪💪 *February's intake for the Lose Weight and Gain Life Program starts next week. Please PM for details and space confirmation.

  • ✨🌴 Anyone who knows me knows I love a theme! Themes help me focus and set goals. My current theme is health. Some healthy things I’m most excited about right now on this wintery Wednesday:⁣
⁣
☀️🧑‍⚕️✔️ I’m 3 years melanoma free! My favorite skin tip? Lock down an excellent dermatologist who gives a damn & make your appointments at least once a year. My doc has been taking care of me for over 5 years and I couldn’t be more grateful and serious about the importance of this relationship.⁣
⁣
🥒🥬🥦 Vegetables. My hubby is a vegetarian and has been for about 20 years. When we moved in together many moons ago, we established a “meatless kitchen” in our home. This helped with my fried chicken & beef stroganoff addictions while allowing him to use any cookware/knives, etc knowing they wouldn’t have been used for meat. Over time I’ve slipped occasionally with the meatless situation, & we started filling the fridge with easy, not so healthy crap when tired. With the new year, we jumpstarted our routine & fought off sickness with a new fridge structure & grocery list focus. The fridge is stocked with our favorite vegetables, & we’re actually using the stack of rad vegetarian cookbooks we’ve been gifted over the years. It’s so stinkin’ easy. We already feel lighter and brighter.⁣
⁣
💅🏼💕💋 Strong, rad women. I’m making time to connect with the incredible women in my life. We’re lunching, jumping, walking, FaceTime-ing, work-session-ing, planning, scheming, & chilling. Every other day I’m spending time with an inspiring woman who is doing something special in this world. Going solo into the entrepreneurship game was a little lonely & terrifying but now that I’m up for air, I know I’m not alone at all. We share our energy, insights, lessons, & support one-another. Rising tides have never felt better.⁣
⁣
That’s all for now! Happy hump day, I hope your week is full of the good stuff, & cheers to your health! ⁣

  • When the lights right, the makeups done, the hairs washed, it’s the first dress you’ve worn in months, there’s not a toddler in sight and the mirror isn’t smeared with tiny fingerprints/food... you’ve gotta take a selfie right? 🤪🤳🏼 #strikemeapose

  • 🐕 Puppy Power...just like being around a real puppy/dog this pose releases tension (spine, shoulders, upper back and arms) and gives you a sense of calmness, relieving stress and anxiety whilst opening up your chest/heart. Hurray for dogs and yoga and dogs doing yoga...🐕

  • Imagine one day waking up and looking at yourself in the mirror and thinking. I’m done, I’m just done. Done feeling like crap from eating unhealthy food, done feeling insecure in my own skin from being overweight, done with the excuses as to why I was living the way I was. I made a decision a year after my second daughter that I was powerful enough to change my circumstances... that the only one holding me back was myself. A lot can change when you put your mind to it. You are powerful beyond measure! Remember that! You can do anything! 3 years between these photos, the obvious is the physical change, but the mental and emotional change is it the biggest difference. I’m so happy I turned to fitness and health! #glowup #makeachange #powerful #powerfulwomen #strongwomen #missjazzyfit #motivation

  • Many may not know this, but I experienced rejection and bullying at a very early age. My mother was overly thrifty and a non-aesthetic who didn't really have a sense (or care) of what the cool kids wore and did in school. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So from basically second grade, I was shamed for my lack of style and appearance. It wasn't uncommon for me to wear a pair of K-mart colorful jeans, country western shirt that my mother hand made along with a pair of bargain tennis shoes. Oh, and bangs that started waaaay too far up towards the crown of my head. Let's not forget my lunch that I carried in a grocery plastic bag, which was often pb&j, homemade pudding in a recycled peanut butter jar along with some other generic item sides.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I longed for friends. I longed for acceptance. I longed for love. Rejection from peers became so normal to me at such a young age. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Then finally, I developed a skill in high school that really allowed me to become whoever I needed to be to fit in and have acceptance. Even if I really felt like the lonely rejected girl on the outside, I was sure to project quite the opposite outward.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It wasn't until I was in my thirty's that I really started to understand what becoming myself really meant. Understanding the good parts of vulnerability, and letting the world bring me the right people, who really do accept me for who I am. Letting them see the sensitive and more delicate pieces of myself.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I try to teach my children to be kind and compassionate to other children. And recognize ways to help them fit in and feel accepted, while still being leaders. I hope to give the gift of NOT being terrified of rejection or appearance to many young women and hope to do so thru my daughters.🤍👭

  • My 2020 physique goals were to build more of a perky peach
.
3 weeks in, on a new programme and nutrition plan, and we are already starting to see some progress
.
I might have to take the lift on occasion due to the mega DOMs but its proof that persistence and listening to good advice works 🍑

  • “Think it into reality!” 🤘🏼 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Imagery is an incredible form of mental and emotional stimulation that has the potential to enact real life changes. 🙌🏻 In all aspects of life, by thinking of what you want and imagining how to do it only inspires you to do it for real! The same applies to the gym! 👇🏼💪🏼
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👉🏼”Exercise Imagery” is the act of envisioning yourself working out in a positive, motivating light in order to generate real life inspiration for hitting that gym. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👉🏼This mental rehearsal creates a focus that can lead to positive outcomes when actually in the gym, and can sustain motivation for long term success.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So, the next time you’re feeling sluggish and debating going for a workout, envision yourself CRUSHING it. 🔥 Dwell on that euphoric feeling of a sick pump. Think of the pride you feel glancing in the mirror and seeing yourself striving for your own personal greatness. If you can think it, you can achieve it! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Together, we got this! 💪🏼
