  • Free stay up for grabs with this ongoing contest by @OyoRooms and @TripotoCommunity

Goa is a place where it all began! Yep!

I remember it was my birthday, and none of my friends had the money or the time to travel from Delhi to Goa. I am talking about 2016 and it was a big deal for me to go just with Rach (@meanderandwander) back in those days. This is the place where I realized what it feels like to live on your own terms, feel liberal and independent at the same time. The place where the traveling escapade started.

Fast forward to 2018, we saw the unseen places of Goa. The ones where fewer people go. The has been a massive shift in my traveling preferences and I would rather go to a beach where not a single soul is there than the mainstream places of Baga beach.

And that is exactly why I would like to go to Goa again. Maybe to discover the Southside the next time?

This photo is my entry for this contest. You can participate as well by -

  • The Streets of Kolkata
✨
✨
Being the old capital city of British India, I knew I’d find many historic sights in Kolkata (formerly known as Calcutta) during my trip. And even though I love admiring grand architecture, museums filled with stories of yesteryears, and touristic places in general; I knew that I wanted to do more than just see the popular landmarks of Kolkata.
✨
✨
I had read many blogs about how Kolkata lives in its streets and thats exactly what I wanted to experience. I wanted to walk in its heritage neighbourhoods till my feet hurt and press click every time I saw a cute house or two. I wanted to see how the local people go about their day and learn about the past of their city straight from them and their experiences. I wanted to explore streets that no guide tells you to, and I wanted to find beautiful corners such as this one, by myself. ✨
✨
So during my 2 and a half days in Kolkata, that’s exactly what I did. Sure I visited a few touristic places early morning for sunrise shoots, but I always kept my afternoon and evening free to explore residential areas such as this one. The feeling of not knowing what you are going to find and then stumbling upon something so picturesque is a travel experience that I am always going to remember. ✨
✨
CG’s tip: This particular house is located in the Shobha bazaar neighbourhood of North Kolkata. North Kolkata has many areas like this one and even if you cant find the exact same house, you are going to come across many picturesque buildings that will make all the walking worth it. So don’t forget to walk around and let the city unfold its magic in front of you.

  • The NOT so subtle art of not giving a f**k
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Every year around the days leading up to my birthday I wonder about what changed in that previous year.
If you’re already not doing this by the way, trust me, you should. Like legit journal your observations if you have to but always, always make mental notes of how that year transformed you.
I for one, enter the 26th year of my life in a couple of days, and have realized that 2018-19 taught me - that the only way to have an actual opinion, a real voice, was for me to forget the notion of being liked. By family, friends, acquaintances, my ‘instafam’. I’ve spent a huge chunk of my life trying too hard to make everyone happy and make them feel comfortable around me. I thought being any kind of nice, even the “trying to be nice” type, is better than being a sorry excuse of a human being.
But inside, I was always this girl^
Not just someone who stood in front of a mirror holding a vibe that disparaged morons with her finger, but someone who always knew her worth and is finally done trying to prove it, but never done working on it.
I open my arms to you guys who want to discuss things, but if you feel like you can say anything you like to me under the “pretext of discussing”, if you’re someone who gets off and sleeps on spreading hate and negativity, your place in my life has been already discarded via the power, and the effect of my one finger.
Than(fuc)k you very much.
