- Those crazy nights, I do remember in my youth
I do recall, those were the best times, most of all
In the heat with a blue jean girl
Burnin' love comes once in a lifetime
She found me singing by the rail road track
Took me home, we danced by moonlight

- Happy 70th birthday to Steve Perry, born on this day in 1949. He is best known as the lead singer for Journey during their most commercially successful periods, from 1977 to 1987 and again from 1995 to 1998. Steve Perry also had a successful solo career between the mid-1980s and mid-1990s. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Journey, last year on April 7, 2017. In 1975, Perry moved to Thousand Oaks, California, where he formed a progressive rock band called "Pieces" with Tim Bogert (who had previously worked with Jeff Beck and put out only one release, "Beck, Bogert & Appice"), Denver Cross, and Eddie Tuduri. After a year and a half, the group was unable to secure a record deal and disbanded. Steve Perry then ended up in Banta, California, where he fronted the band "Alien Project" in his mid-20s. He nearly gave up music when the bassist of that band, Richard Michaels, was killed in an automobile accident. When he had decided not to continue his singing career, at the urging of his mother, Steve Perry answered a call from Walter "Herbie" Herbert, manager of a struggling San Francisco based band called "Journey." Perry was secretly included as roadie by the name of "John Villanueva's Portuguese cousin" and on the tour, during a sound check performed a song with Journey while the current singer, Robert Fleischman was away from the stage, and after that the band manager informed the band members of the lineup change. "Escape" (stylized as E5C4P3 on the album cover) is the 7th studio album by Journey, released on July 31, 1981. It topped the American Billboard 200 chart and features four hit Billboard Hot 100 singles; "Don't Stop Believin," "Who's Crying Now," "Still They Ride," "Open Arms," and "Stone in Love." It was certified 9x platinum by the RIAA and sold over 12 million copies worldwide, making it the band's most successful studio album and 2nd most successful album overall behind “Greatest Hits.” #steveperry #journey #dontstopbeleiving #stoneinlove #escape #openarms #vinylcollector #33rpm #vinylcommunity #vinyloftheday #vinylcollection #vinylrecords #vinyljunkie #vinyladdict #nowspinning
