  • Today marks one year since my ex husband and I walked into the court house and filed for divorce.
I want to share it all with you. The good, the bad and everything in between. But the truth is, there are parts of my journey that I may never share. Parts that hurt too much or could hurt other people. And that’s okay. But there is so much of it that I know other people need to hear. That my pain and experience may help one person out there feel less alone in theirs. And 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 is why I share.
For those of you who make it to the end of this post, there’s a prize (jk 🤣). But thank you. 🙏🏻 ——— We had danced around it for far too long. We had little kids and I think for any sane human, you try all things, in your kids’ names, before surrendering to divorce. But there came a time where we just knew. It was time.

These days last year were some of the hardest of my life. I remember going to work and feeling like my entire chest was falling out of my body and wondering if anyone could tell or see that. Looking around at other people and wondering how people go on during this time in their lives. Feeling robbed of my grief because I still had to function and go to work and show up and pretend that I knew everything was going to be ok.

The fact is, I didn’t.
Divorce is a scary plunge into the unknown. No matter how many people you’ve witnessed do it, you can’t understand until you’ve experienced it (and I hope you don’t). Divorce with children and step children, it’s a level of pain I wish on no one.
I watched my children break down in tears wondering what their new life would look like. Asking why they couldn’t be with me or their dad all the time. Not understanding why if we loved each other, and them, we couldn’t just go on. And still these memories haunt me.
My little guy told me the other day, “Mommy, I don’t remember before.” And my heart nearly broke in two again right there. 💔

There are days this last year that have been awful. Days where I didn’t know if the pain could get any worse. Experiencing the pain through the eyes of my children has been far worse than any pain I could experience in my own spirit. (Rest of post in comments!)

  • Since my set a @fabriclondonofficial last Friday I’ve had a few people hit me up about what version of @stantonwarriors ‘Still Here’ I dropped.
.
It’s a remix I did for them a while back that until Friday I had never played out.
The original is such a big tune that could never be outdone and the fear of dropping my version and getting a bad reception was always so daunting.
.
My version is a dark burner that emphasises the original on the drop and the reaction I got at Fabric was amazing, so thank you for the love!
.
It’s out now on Spotify and all over platforms.

  • Breaking our silence is powerful. Whether it comes as a whisper or a squeak at first, allow that sense of spaciousness, of opening, allow yourself to trust the bottomlessness, and lean into the dark roar which will light up every cell.

Though it may start softly, we build in confidence and skills, we realise we do not need to wait for permission before we open our mouths, we do not need to look to another’s authority because we have our own. Down in our cores. We have waited so long for permission to know that it is our time, our turn on stage. That time is now. Our voices are being heard. Together we are learning to move from raw emotion and frozen muscles into a flow which emerges deep from within. We are learning to dance our prayers and bleed our words onto the page

Our speaking out will irritate some people, get us called bitchy or hypersensitive and disrupt some peaceful scrolling and then our speaking out will permit other women to speak, until laws are changed and lives are saved and the world is altered forever.

Next time, ask: What's the worst that will happen? Then push yourself a little further than you dare. Once you start to speak, people will yell at you. They will interrupt you, put you down and suggest it's personal.

And the speaking will get easier and easier. And you will find you have fallen in love with your own vision, which you may never have realized you had. And you will lose some friends and lovers, and realize you don't miss them. And new ones will find you and cherish you. And you will still flirt and paint your nails, dress up and party, because, as I think Emma Goldman said, "If I can't dance, I don't want to be part of your revolution." And at last you'll know with surpassing certainty that only one thing is more frightening than speaking your truth. And that is not speaking. -IMMA V

  • It’s 8:49pm. ⁣
I’m sick as a dog. ⁣
KG is sick as a... well she’s a queen. ⁣
I’m tired, I’ve been up since 4:45am. ⁣
I want to be lying on the couch with Kenzie in the background of this photo. ⁣
Instead, I’m on my 93rd email reply to a newsletter I sent out at 2pm today. ⁣
...and I’m pumped. ⁣
⁣
I asked for feedback, I got feedback. ⁣
⁣
It isn’t all positive. ⁣
⁣
My team asked me if I wanted to auto-reply to the emails and thank them for their feedback and let them know I’d be in touch soon. ⁣
⁣
You can guess my answer. ⁣
⁣
Chapter 2 at G&N is about our mission. It’s about our pride. It’s about being better. It’s about serving our referral partners. It’s about helping our clients achieve the American Dream. ⁣
⁣
It isn’t about who owns the bank account. ⁣
⁣
That never mattered to me. And it certainly doesn’t now. ⁣

And if you want to bash me for being a Pats fan, you can’t because I’m holding an infant and only a terrible person would bash someone holding such an angel. Go pats. #OllieG #og #gopats #tb12 #stillhere #calandollie
