  • How much carbohydrate should you eat?🥖🥞🍚🤔
The answer is largely dependent on the types and amounts of activity you are doing that day. Carbohydrates are our main energy source. So, the more physical activity you have to do, the more carbs you need to fuel it. Same thing for the other end of the spectrum; less physical activity requires less carbohydrates on your plate.🥗
This plate here shows what a meal for a light training day might look like. Carbs are on the lower end with only about 1/4 of the plate full of rice with sweet potatoes and coconut. The rest of the plate is filled with muscle building grilled salmon and filling, vitamin packed cabbage slaw salad.💪🏽
If you had a heavy training day, this plate would look more like swapping the portion size of the rice and salad to ensure lots of carb energy is consumed to fuel your longer and/or more intense training needs. 🏃🏾‍♂️🔥⛽️

  • There are few better things than working a UCI race in my own backyard. Easy laundry, a comfortable bed all to myself, greyhound snuggles, and all my own kitchen appliances to make cute food!

  • I got an @instantpot and I’m in love! I upgraded my beloved crockpot because I was finding that I was forgetting to put meals in the crockpot in time 🤦🏼‍♀️ and who doesn’t want to cook dinner in one pot for easy clean up in 20 min or less?! I can now cook dried beans and dried brown rice in 20-25 minutes! How awesome is that?! We all have busy lives so if getting food on the table is a challenge, I highly recommend this kitchen appliance! 🍽⠀

It is commonly believed that protein supplements are required to build muscle. People believe that now that they’re on a weight training plan, they need to go out and buy some protein powder and a blender bottle to go along with their program. 
This is NOT the case.

Protein supplements act as a dietary supplement for insufficient protein intake. ☑️Meaning, if you are struggling to consume enough protein through your regular diet, protein supplements are used to help fill in the gap by adding more protein to your diet. That’s it. Plain and simple.

Now, while they may not be magical or required, they can certainly be beneficial. As a fitness professional, tons of my clients struggle to consume enough protein in a day. People just aren’t into slamming chicken breasts and tuna all day long. Not to mention, people are busy, where do you get the time to sit down and eat a good meal several times a day? ⚡️This is why I recommend protein supplements because it is a quick and efficient way to add more protein into your day to help you reach your daily protein goal (which we know is crucial to any fitness goal). _

How much is ‘some’? We used to think it was quite a bit, as in 3-6 mg/kg around 60 minutes before exercise. <That’s 200-400 mg for a 150# runner. Or, 2 ½ - 5 cups of home brewed coffee> Although, recent studies are showing that smaller doses may be just as effective, 2-3 mg/kg. <That’s closer to 2 cups for that 150# runner.> -

How about caffeine during distance runs? One study showed caffeine + carbohydrates showed a small but significant improvement in endurance. Products like gels + caffeine or gum + caffeine have gained traction recently. Do you take caffeine during long runs? <Who might not want to? Those prone to GI issues 💩>

Caveat: if you are super sensitive to caffeine, you may not want to ‘force’ the issue. The negative effects may outweigh any potential benefit. And, excess caffeine can cause anxiety, dehydration, increased heart rate & blood pressure, and sleep disturbances. <The recommended upper limit for caffeine in adults and overall health is 400 mg/day & teens or pregnant women is <200 mg/day> -

Lá conheci e trabalhei com excelentes lutadores (como os lutadores dessa foto), uma academia de ponta e principalmente pude aprender muito com o @rogeriocamoes, meu mentor dentro da preparação física para lutadores!! Fora a Xgym o Brasil tem vários outros centros de excelência para lutadores, como a @chuteboxesp, lugar aonde também trabalhei e aprendi muito!! Você pode até viajar o mundo, seja  você atleta ou treinador. Porém, o que vai ser o diferencial na sua carreira é a sua capacidade de aprender, interpretar e principalmente ter o senso crítico de filtrar aquilo que vai ser útil para você.
