  • Finally trying the sesame bun from Mama Patisserie for brunch yesterday at work! 
The sesame filling was pretty generous and the filling to bun ratio was not too bad. The texture of the sesame filling was inclined towards grainy instead of paste-like. So if you prefer your filling to be more chewy, this bun might not be for you. But if you prefer a crunchy filling, you could give it a try! I guess I need to give this bun another try to have another taste of it before deciding if I’ll buy it often 🤣

  • today’s brad is the chocolate bread from Bread Line (i forgot the exact name)! It is quite a good dupe for da og king of breads aka chocolate bomb! toasted the bread which made it nice and soft and the chocolate filling inside is all warm and gooey 🤤🤤🤤 the only thing that it’s lacking compared to the og chocolate bomb is the yummilicious crust on the top. Dis could do with more of the biscuit crust at the top. Otherwise it’s quite close to the chocolate bomb alrdy! #bread #sgbread #instafood #chocolatebread #sgfood #breadreview #foodreview

  • Trying out a new bread, pain aux banana from Mini One! 🍌

Saw this new banana bread on display and I knew I got to try it cos it’s so cute! Custard and banana cream is piped on top of a flaky croissant base and I really like how light the filling is. The banana doesn’t have any weird artificial fragrance and is not sweet. The croissant base is crispy with an alluring buttery aroma that’s not cloying. The entire pastry doesn’t feel too greasy like how some Danish pastries do. Love it! ❤️

Also love the shape of the bread. Besides looking like a banana, it’s like a smiley too. So have yourself a happy midweek everyone! 😊

  • Thousand Deli’s Red Bean Polo (with homemade yam paste) // Aside from the yam paste which I added, the bun itself was mediocre, with a limp polo crust (or maybe it was just because it was left overnight) that lacked a buttery aroma and measly filling. The red bean paste still retained the integrity of its beans but was a tad too sweet. But the combination of red bean and yam was 👌🏻👌🏻 Rating (for the bun itself): 5/10

    Thousand Deli’s Red Bean Polo (with homemade yam paste) // Aside from the yam paste which I added, the bun itself was mediocre, with a limp polo crust (or maybe it was just because it was left overnight) that lacked a buttery aroma and measly filling. The red bean paste still retained the integrity of its beans but was a tad too sweet. But the combination of red bean and yam was 👌🏻👌🏻 Rating (for the bun itself): 5/10

  • since i love bread too i shall just post all the bread i eat here and share my valuable reviews as an experienced bread connoisseur. Today’s bread is from one of my favourite bakeries, Bakery Line. This is no wu pao chun but just those neighbourhood under the hdb bakery chain, but their breads are really huge and value for money esp since it’s 3 for $3, plus the quality quite good it’s not stale. However today’s blueberry raisin was quite a disappointment i must say, it looked scrumptious and the outside part with the blueberry jam and raisins were okay, unfortunately the inside was plain and i think it could have done with a filling of some sort. Quite a letdown and i probably won’t buy again, but it’s okay they have many other amazing breads, especially their salted egg yolk bread which is hands down the best in sg. Next time i buy and post here. #bread #sgbread #breadreviews #instafood

  • Pullman bakery’s sourdough toast left such a deep impression on me previously so I decided to go and get more. Also got a garlic French bread which was so yummy! You can taste the wheat flour and it’s Super moist, chewy and crusty 😋 the garlic smell and taste is also wowwww 😍I think they don’t use butter but margarine instead (?) which I don’t really like 😅

  • Levure Naturelle’s Chicken Floss Roll // Am really on a ROLLLL with these floss breads hehe. Honestly, expected more from Levure but the bread itself was too dry and lacked flavour. Also, the stingy amount of mayo sauce given was disappointing. But, wouldn’t mind getting this again because of the sheer quantity of chicken floss given. The roll was generously stuffed with chicken floss ugh love 😍 Only wish the bread was softer and tastier.

  • Tosuta Master’s Polo Char Siew // Have tried many polo char siews in my life and this was not a disappointment. They nailed the polo crust with its buttery flaky crisp and the char siew filling was pretty delicious. Love that they didn’t use nasty red food colouring like some other places do. The char siew was slightly sweet and garlicky, although on the drier side. But would definitely buy this again!

  • Cake History’s Seaweed Floss // Have always had a soft spot for floss!!! This seaweed floss roll was decent, but the floss rolls I tried in Taiwan have SPOILED ME. Have yet to find any floss rolls in SG that can beat my favourite one from TW ugh still dreamin about it 😩 Floss could be more generously stuffed and the bread wasn’t as soft as I had hoped for. But always a fan of the translucent homemade mayo that seems to accompany every floss bun?? Rating: 7/10

  • Roti’s Red Beanie Bun // Easily my favourite red bean bun in SG!!! Only 60 cents?? It’s as cheap as it’s gonna get. Love how generous they are with the filling - creamy and thick, albeit a little too sweet. Not to mention, the buttery soft bread complements the gooey paste perfectly 😩❤️ Rating: 8.5/10

A winning combination - salted egg + yam + pork floss + mochi 😩🔥❤️ The savouriness of the salted egg yolk perfectly complements the sweet yam paste, coupled with the sweet-savoury crunch of the pork floss and finished off with the gooey chewiness of the mochi. But as for the bun itself, it was a big disappointment. There was barely any filling, with the salted egg lava just coating the interior of the bun. And what looked like a cookie crust was just flakes of wax-like cheesy dough bits. For the price ($2.20), I definitely expected way more.

But massive shoutout to those who ordered hehe really appreciate the support ❤️ And sorry to those who weren’t able to make it for the collection, don’t worry - another batch will be coming soon!!

  • Duke Bakery’s Black Sesame // Love the slightly grainy consistency of the black sesame paste and how the sweetness doesn’t overpower its fragrant nutty flavour. The bread-to-filling ratio is pretty balanced and the bread itself is light and fluffy. Duke doesn’t disappoint with this one!

  • Sweet milk bun stuffed with melted candy cheese and a little lemon zest 😋
<Sponge>
20g bread flour
2g instant dry yeast
20g water

1. Mix and rest for 1 hour as sponge. <Bun Dough>
100g bread flour
100g Plain flour plus
10g milk powder
1g pumpkin powder, optional
35g fine sugar
2g fine salt
Sponge from above
20g unsalted butter, melted
80g water
30g water, to be added gradually during kneading <Filling>
18 pcs Anchor Candy cheese
1 tsp Leon zest

2. Mix all ingredients using Speed 1 of hand mixer fixed with dough hooks for about 1 minutes. Knead by using Speed 5 for about 5 minutes till the dough becomes smooth.
3. Proof for 1 hour.
4. Deflate and divide into 9 portions. Rest for 15 minutes.
5. Roll out the dough, add a little lemon zest, place two candy cheese, roll up into a log. Proof for 40 minutes.
6. Dust a little bread flour over.
7. Bake in preheated oven at 200C for 5 minutes, 170C for 5 minutes, 160C for 10 minutes till the crust slightly golden.

    Four Leaves’ Yammy Pork Floss Bun // Since when did Four Leaves have this??? They don’t AHAHA made my own creamy yam paste and stuffed it into their Mini Pork Floss Bun 😛 So so good ugh love the combination. But either way, the bread would have been amazing even without the yam filling. Love the stringy texture of the pork floss that melts into a sweet-savoury juice in your mouth, completely unlike the dry flaky kind of floss.
