Just beet it! 🎶 Beets originate from the Mediterranean region. Traditionally, beets were used for medicinal purposes until the French recognized its culinary appeal in the 1800s. Though the most commonly found beets are red, there are also yellow, white, and candy-striped beets! In the European and Baltic regions, beets were popularly used in borscht - a soup made with beets, meats, and vegetables in order to stay warm while having something highly nutritious. 
Beets are low in calories but high in many vital minerals & vitamins such as magnesium, fiber, Vitamin B6, and iron, just to name a few. They are easy to cook - you can grill them, boil them, or even have them raw👌🏽You can also blend them in smoothies, use them in red velvet cakes, brownies, etc. They are rich in antioxidants and nitrates - studies have shown that beets can help to lower blood pressure, improve athletic performance, improve mental and cognitive functions, and have even shown anti-cancer properties. Not to beet around the bush, but beets are a killer vegetable to add to your diet! 🤪

In fact, beets are so versatile that their extract is even used in makeup products, such as “The Beet Shield” sunscreen by @kravebeauty or even the Brightening Beet Root treatment bath bomb sold at @ultabeauty 
Beets can be bought fresh in the produce section, pickled or canned as well. It depends on what you plan to use them for. They are available at @realcanadiansuperstore, @traderjoes or @walmart! 
Pro tip:  Beets pair very well with walnuts and feta cheese or cottage cheese in a salad. They can also be blended to make hummus, blended in smoothies, or used to make your own DIY scrub or lip balm recipe!

  • ROASTED BEETS! With roasted garlic vinaigrette! I can’t get over those colors. Also, I literally ate this whole bowl the day i made it. That’s like... 2-3 pounds of beets. (Which surprised me when I went to the bathroom later because I momentarily thought I had some disease. 😂😬😳)

 You can think of this guy as your clear skin organ. If it’s jammed up with chemicals and toxins (that you either apply to your body via beauty products or eat via your food)...⁣

...it’s not able to do it’s job well. ⁣

So you gotta be loving up on that liver to make sure it’s working in tip top shape. Easy way to do that is with food!⁣

Beets are a great one to add in to your diet to help support your livers detoxification power.  I love roasting them up with thyme, garlic and a touch of lemon juice. 👌🏻⁣

  • Dinner tonight was a grass-fed beef burger (mine was without the bun), with a side of roasted beets 🤤, with my favorite burger condiment - Roasted Red Pepper “Ketchup”. This sauce is tangy and FULL of flavor. It’s definitely not ketchup. It’s a game changer.⁣
📝 ⁣
To make this fabulous sauce:⁣
• 3-4 Oz roasted red peppers⁣
• 1 date (rehydrated in hot water)⁣
• 3 Tbsp EVOO⁣
• 2 Tbsp ACV with mother⁣
• 1/4 tsp each of salt, and smoked paprika⁣
Blend it all together!⁣
🍔 ⁣
What do you like on your burgers?
