  • Nicole here! I recently finished a devotional with a friend of mine called “Pursuing God’s Rest,” and I think it may be one of the most important devotionals I’ve ever read. There’s so many things that I have to and so many deadlines I have to meet that my mind tells me that I need to keep working - that I need to have all of these tasks done at such a high level in order to get a decent grade so that I can finish my master’s degree and impress my current and future supervisors.. but then I ignore my health and well-being. In my head I hear things like “well it doesn’t matter, just keep pushing, you have to work harder or you’re gonna fail,” and so on and so forth... but I never hear myself telling me to rest. That’s why I’m sick all the time and constantly getting injured. But what we fail to realize is that rest is Holy. Even God rested on the seventh day of creating the world. (Genesis 2:2) He called it the Sabbath because He wanted rest to be Holy. And He wants us to find rest in Him. It’s where we find our strength and find our peace - solely through faith and rest in His presence. 
In the 3rd day of that devotional, this verse popped out to me. It reads: “My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭4:20-22‬ ‭NIV‬‬ It’s easy to fall prey to those deadlines and teachers telling you your next assignments and parents telling you to stay up and study, or even your mind telling you to burn the midnight oil before going in for that next exam. But it’s even easier to turn your ear to Him. Listen to Him. He knows what’s best for our lives. After all, He did create us. Rest. Find your peace in Him. Breathe in the rest He wants for you.

▪️The benefits of sleeping in a cold room are varied, but all point to a better night’s rest and improve not only your sleep, but your health as well. And with sleep deprivation being a leading cause of heart disease, obesity, and interruptions in cognitive function- paying attention to details to help you sleep is worthwhile.
▪️Part of why sleeping in a cold room is better is due to how it initiates rest. The ideal sleeping temperature falls anywhere between 60 and 67 degree Fahrenheit, and as you sleep your body temperature lowers naturally.
▪️Introducing your body to a cooler environment helps stimulate sleep and allows you to cycle naturally though the sleep stages.
▪️Temperatures outside this range can disrupt your REM (rapid eye movement) stage, which is a restorative phase of our sleep and possibly where our brain processing many of our experiences.
▪️Disruptions in this stage can force you to try and catch back up, resulting in grogginess and a sense of being tired even if you feel you got enough sleep.
▪️These sleep stages are crucial to our mental processes through the day and when they are incomplete may affect our cognitive brain functions concerning decision making.
▪️This is also detrimental to our physical health as well since our reaction times can be adversely affected as well.
▪️Sleep deprivation is a leading cause of vehicular and industrial accidents, making your restless sleep a problem that affects more than just the individual.

  • We live in an incredibly noisy world.
-
To navigate through the noise can be deafening.
-
We can easily drown in the noise, without even knowing it.
-
Before we know it, we are struggling to keep our heads above water.
-
Struggling to discern between fact and fiction.
-
Between your own truth and spoon-fed lies.
-
Between authentic expression and programmed reaction.
-
We must be conscious to take a step back, often, in order to stay afloat.
-
To recede back from the manic, and to rest in stillness.
-
To turn off, switch off, from busyness.
-
To, paradoxically, unplug, in order to recharge.
-
For the next two weeks, I will going off the grid.
-
Unplugging digitally, physically, mentally.
-
Disconnecting from the everyday; reconnecting spiritually.
-
Removing myself from the noise.
-
Immersing deeply in stillness.
-
Creating space.
-
Embarking on a spiritual pilgrimage, a journey to cleanse my soul.
-
To recognise, to honour, to manifest truth.
-
See you on the other side.

  • The lady behind all that is Jacq Of All Trades - Master Of Fun; a human being, extremely passionate and determined, highly energetic, super sensitiveand, full of love... also needs time to reset. "A slow start to the morning after such a massive week and weekend of work. Rugged up, getting some morning sun for a 20min heart opening / heart centering meditation before approaching todays tasks. My energy, body and mind definitely need this. This takes practice : Me first. Then everything else after it benefits. It's empowering to prioritize self care, especially when we follow through with it! 🙏 
Tip : stop now. Take a momemt. To be still amd tune into your body and your breathe. Focus on breathing down to your belly, up to your heart and let go, 10 times without your monkey mind wandering off with a story or thought. It's ok if you wander with thoughts. Just notice that you did, without applying any meaning to it and come back to your breathe, starting from 1 again :). If this is new for you, try a cycle of 3 breaths"

  • Balance is a tricky thing. It varies greatly from person to person. For me, Sunday’s are all about self-care. Sometimes it’s binge watching TV, sometimes it’s reading, sometimes it’s playing a video game, sometimes cooking every meal and trying new recipes. Today, it meant #legday at the gym, followed by a trip to the @gettyvilla with my dear friend @weifinder . With #training #kelseywellspwr throughout the week, I balance it with rest when needed. #pwr2019 going strong, starting to feel my confidence increase a little more with every workout. Happy Sunday everyone, spend it with love✌🏼

  • Ожидала увидеть хибару, а была потрясена увиденной больницей небольшого городка в Тае!

К сожалению, на днях пришлось наведаться в больницу из-за непредвиденной ситуации (не со мной). Местные дома, если их можно так назвать, преимущественно одноэтажные, иногда двухэтажные, разбитые, серые. Не думаю, что смогла бы жить в таких.

Добираясь до госпиталя, мы думали, что так же будет выглядеть и сам пункт назначения. Но как же мы были удивлены, в хорошем смысле, что мы сильно ошибались.

Большое, просторное, чистое здание. Удобные, яркие и мякгие кресла и диваны. Приветливые и дружелюбные работники больницы. Наличие эскалатора, коляски у входа для перемещения маломобильных групп населения. Кафе в самом здании при входе. (все фото в карусели)

И это все в небольшом городе, где в основном маленькие и полуразбитые домики.

И были сильно расстроены, осознавая, что такого в Магадане еще долго не будет. Если вообще будет.

  • Everyday I hustle...well except Sundays! That day I use to rest and spend it with family. Work will always be there but family always comes 1st, no matter  what. Get out of your routine and do something different every week. It's fun and refreshing. This week I introduced my son to Indian food and at church we sat all the way in the front 😉

Get out of your routine and do something different every week. It's fun and refreshing. This week I introduced my son to Indian food and at church we sat all the way in the front 😉
