  • Back to Hyalite with some more B&W photos. Winter so often is a bit of a monochromatic season during storms that I really enjoy working with B&W editing over my normal color editing.

  • Light snow, wildlife and nearly no tourist. Best time to be down in Yellowstone, especially when the skiing during said weekend isn't great. Growing up and living so close to Yellowstone has typically meant that I stay as far away as possible due to crowds. For so long I never went down there, even in the winter other than a few times for snowmobiling back in the day. Since getting more into wildlife photographer, it has become a nice place to go in the winter to find some animals no matter how common they may be in the park. (Looking at you Mr. Buffalo) I still love finding the photographic few to take some photos of.

  • Didn’t know if we would have views, on this climb up, as we were in fog most of the way. Between plenty of steep stairs to scaling slick granite on cables, it was quite the ‘adventure’. We sat at the top hoping the clouds would part and get a glimpse of the views this place is known for. .
.
👆🏻This was right after the clouds started to lift. The photo doesn’t do justice to how beautiful it truly was. Looking forward to heading back to B.C and checking a few more hikes off my list. .

  • It's #impactday for the @keepnaturewild community. Being a #wildkeeper is not some hippy dippy, save-the-world mission for me. It is about a simple concept hardwired into the human brain: reciprocity.
.
I am keenly aware of all the benefits I get from going out and exploring wild places. Therefore, I enjoy doing something to feel I am providing a benefit back. It doesn't matter that these are places and not people, I still feel a responsibility to do it. Picking up trash when I'm out there won't solve any major problems, but it is my way to pay respect to the wild 🖖

  • We found the trail where all the horsies in LA go out for their daily walk [check out those tracks!] & we also found lots of trash to pick up along the way. Remember folks, “𝒅𝒐𝒏’𝒕 𝒃𝒆 𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒔𝒉𝒚 ♻️” super excited to partner up with the Keep Nature Wild crew & continue to keep our wildlife wild. 5,341+ 𝒍𝒃𝒔 of trash has been picked up & logged today alone 💚✌️ #keepnaturewild #wildkeepers #impactday

  • Last light on a popular face up in Hyalite. I was up at Hyalite to shoot sunset the day prior. I was confident that it was going to be a fantastic sunset. Got up there with plenty of time to be sure to not miss anything. Soon enough, it kicked off and was great. Except for the fact that when I went to shoot my first image, my battery was flat on the camera. I realized the last time i was out shooting photos was late at night to make the star trails image over Ross Peak and forgot to swap the batteries after the shoot. I stayed up and just watched as the light changed, enjoying the beauty but wishing I could take a photo of it. I knew I wanted to shoot a sunset up in Hyalite while I was home for the break, so the next day I headed back up after being sure to charge both batteries. While there was no clouds to speak of, I was still able to shoot a nice orange light as it moved across the mountain face. Enjoy the view of of the highly photographed Hyalite.

  • Went to church this weekend in the snow and trees.

Saw one of these huts on IG 2 years ago and after a couple years of failing, finally managed to snag 2 nights for Ludlow Hut! Given our dry and warm February, it wasn't the foray into ski touring I envisioned, but we all finished the weekend with new skills under our belt and new animal facts in our brains.

Thanks to the @sierraclub for maintaining these backcountry huts.
