  • Instagram is testing my patience,
And I’m RELIEVED because of it.
Growing up, I was surrounded by people who saw the world differently than I saw it. It was tough at the time because I didn’t know how to deal with those disagreements. There were times when I shut off completely, avoiding all others. And there were other instances when I would choose frustration and anger as a route of communicating my worldview.
Years of negative thoughts piled high, and eventually led me to the decision to run. Instead of staying and changing myself, I chose to flee from disagreement because I knew that my confrontational style was hostile and energy-consuming. The “you’re wrong” mentality ate me alive, and I yearned to be surrounded by people that made me say, “you’re right.”
Choosing my own destinations allowed me the freedom to surround myself by like minded individuals, to build a social circle of my liking.
I found that the connection of humans who see life the same way is beautiful and precious, but I soon discovered it is also very limiting.
I saw my passion start to dwindle, witnessed complacency taking its place. There was no longer challenge, no longer a will to improve. Everyone saw life how I saw it, and thus I stopped seeing life in color.
I needed to be surrounded by people who had the anger, or the courage, to look at me and say, “Annah, you’re wrong.” Those are the people that developed passion inside of me, those are the people that improved my self-awareness. I just hadn’t seen the importance of them before.
I’m ready now.
I’ve kissed maturity on the lips, and I’m ready for the disagreements, ready for the confrontation, ready to listen and observe, to become wiser. I’m up for the challenge my patience wasn’t able to handle long ago.
By sharing my thoughts on this platform, I’m encouraging you to share yours. Let’s enjoy the communication together, learn from one another, and most importantly, maintain respect for ourselves, and consequently, for others.
