Rennbericht:

  • Day 36, Wroclaw
Wroclaw was my first big Polish city on the trip. So in the morning I woke up and went out to explore it. From the first sight I felt in love with it - it has really beautiful city center with many conceptual sights like Wroclaw’s dwarfs hidden on every corner and doing their business)) or Anonymous pedestrians monument. Also the food here is amazing. I think because life in Poland is still tougher than in Germany so they care more about tourists and trying to provide better attractions and service to the visitors! On the other hand - out of the center there are a lot of ugly buildings from the soviet era, but I like them and the contrast they’re adding to the european cities)

  • Day 35, Görlitz - Wroclaw
I woke up and around Görlitz city. To my surprise it has very rich architectural legacy, especially for a small city, the old town is beautiful. And then I just crossed the bridge to the polish side. Years ago it was a one city and after the WWII it was separated by the river. From there I rode all the way to Wroclaw - the first big Poland city on my way, and 190km done. Poland from the beginning differs a bit from German - it seems a bit poorer and roads sometimes are really bad.. but still the nature is beautiful and I know there are a lot of other good stuff

  • ‚Look around you. How many people do you think are settling for 'okay'? Probably a hell of a lot. People settle into okay relationships, okay jobs, okay friendships and an okay life. Why? Because okay is comfortable.‘ (unknown)
Okay always leaves me longing for more🙄. A ship is always safe at shore, but that's not what it is built for⛵.
I’m an enthusiast. I am passionate about everything I do. I don’t just wanna wait for the weekend🤷🏼‍♀️. Not talking about doing laundry. I’m not super passionate about that but it needs to be done, right😉? Some aspects in life are allowed to be more thrilling than others. Moreover, they need to be! Life is too short for anything mediocre☝️. It is so much more enjoyable to work hard for the chance that something absolutely amazing could grow out of it🤩. You feel more alive. It’s not easy to make a change, but okay never was okay for me. I need to be really happy, not just really comfortable.
Are you ready to set sail⛵?

  • Stelvio - I've done it😎!
48 hairpins with an ever increasing gradient.
How tough is it cycling the Stelvio? Very.
It's such a mental challenge and one of the hardest things I've ever done🤘. At 2,758m there’s less oxygen, which (put simply) makes breathing harder work. I tried to keep my average BPM super low as the climb seems to last like forever. I know sounds like heaven and hell at the same time which pretty much sums up how I felt going up through these stunning views. And it's 25 km of stunning views from Prato. We did 3000 meters of elevation and 200km that day. Would have been too easy otherwise 😂😂.
Cycling Passo dello Stelvio is on everybody's bucket list. It’s the star of the Giro d’Italia and it’s a ride you just have to experience for yourself. Climbing the Stelvio by bike takes around 75-90 minutes in the Giro.
So you're most likely to need some extra time😋 #lookprorideslow. It took the @grl.pck @lisasbart and me more than two hours. Such an amazing bunch of girls😘! Apparently some 80s songs were helping us to stay motivated💃. Trust me - you will need some motivation because your head is going to say you can't do it☝️. But the truth is - you are going to conquer that mountain pass👊🏾💪🏼.

  • I've been thinking a lot lately about taking chances and creating a new opportunity🙌. And suddenly it's time to start something new and trust the magic of beginnings💛. I welcome this exciting chapter with a big smile😁. Remember: you're never stuck in a situation where you don't belong. Don't wait for an opportunity, create it☝️.

  • There he is, my new partner in crime.
#CanyonUltimate CF SLX Disc 8.0 SL speced with the @sramroad Force eTap AXS. Doesn't that sound super hot? What a machine!
Our first date was wonderful.
Quite casual, not too rough, classy:
It was day one of the Tour de Friends from Augsburg to Füssen.
120 kilometres and a few metres of altitude. We conquered gravel.
From kilometer 50 it got really dirty, pouring rain. Completely soaked and another 70 kilometres to go. By my side @grl.pck , @canyonradpack and @radieschen.cc crew. Time flew by. Man, we were starving. I suppose that the longing for food increases in the next days.
What do you say - a perfect match?

  • 660km, 11.000 meters of altitude, 5 days. The Tour de Friends by @radrace was an incredible experience😍. We collected a lot of unforgettable memories and some of them lost some memories partying. If you can ride hard, you can party hard😎.
I have absolutely reached my limits. In this context, limit is a very expandable term. In terms of stretching - I obviously neglected that a bit. After the Stelvio my achilles tendon was inflamed, that hurt with every kick. Especially if you have to push a few watts.
My strategy: just ride and forget about the pain. Alternatively you can try it the Italian way and treat yourself to a prosecco. The locals cheered us on our route and lovingly took care of us at food stops. Anyway - everybody had their little aches and pains except my mates from @grl.pck and @canyonradpack. It was crucial, who complains, rides ahead in the wind. Sort of. The TdF is of course NOT a race. Just like nobody is interested in Strava KOMs and the Sunday ride will be chill🤣.
Packed with ambition I gritted my teeth and made another 6,000 meters of altitude with an inflammation. The euphoria and joy of being on the bike distracted me well. How great it is to be surrounded by a group of girls and boys pushing each other. That's what the tour is about: Cycling with friends🥰. The trip proved to me how much more I can do than I actually think. At the start I was unsure whether I would be able to cope with such a big physical challenge. I thought a several times: "Alina, what are you doing to yourself, you're crazy." I also recall a phone call with my teamie. I remember Leo saying, "Alina, I'm scared." Even tho I ride approximately 330km a week, I have to admit I was scared, too.
And now we got back home again with heavy, sore legs and haven't yet realized what we actually achieved in 5 days.
Thus: just do it🤘. In some way you can do everything.
And one more thing: The week was one of those weeks in which I actually felt as if I belonged somewhere and fit in. Thank you cyclists. And to all who were there: you are great. I hope to see you again in Colombia!
Special thanks to @fritzkola for acting sustainable and bringing @radieschen.cc there💛.
