Announcing April’s challenge: #YogaKnot. Practitioners everywhere are crazy about inversions, backbends, forward folds, splits, but twists & binds are often overlooked or skipped. For me, twists are like the glue that connects the whole practice and they make it advance in unison. Space wise, it brings another dimension to the monotonous front & back motion... nothing wrong with that, but, if you add a spinal rotation around its axis, you’re opening the body to new possibilities that maybe before, weren’t an option (aka, you’ll improve BOTH your back & frontal flexibility). They’re incredibly versatile, you can use them to warm up/unwind for deeper backbends/hip openers without tiring certain areas of the spine, and you’ll start sweating pretty quickly too. Internally, they have tremendous cleansing and calming properties, from helping to digest food to soothing the nervous system. When you’re done practicing them, you feel great, energized, limber... that is my goal with this challenge. I hope we’ll have a great time in the process and you’ll incorporate some of these into your #practice! I’m also opening a daily dialog line so you can write comments/questions below the post and I’ll do my best to answer them promptly!! Simply:

Ashtanga yoga is a system of yoga (founded by Sri Patthabi Jois) which involves synchronizing the breath with that of a progressive series of postures, and is a process which truly and completely produces that of intense internal heat as well as a profuse and purifying sweat that helps with detoxification of the muscles and organs of the body. Its a vinyasa style combining a series of flowing postures with rythmic breathing for an intense body-mind workout/in. -

In Sunday's led primary series class we work systematically at a comfortable pace getting alignment right, using props. Approaching each posture with patience and respect to where the body is at on any given day. The practice requires discipline, and is to be practiced with humility. The repetition of Surya Namaskar instills focus and encourages introspection. Watch the myriad of transformation the practice brings about within yourself! -

  • Simple life.... My mind just wants to downsize. Simplify the world around me and my spaces. 
I am really considering moving back to the city and just being closer to everything. 
Feeling like I have had enough time on my own and I have enjoyed the space and tranquility out here but it's time to find somewhere to settle. Somewhere to calm the waters and call "home"

Lots on my mind, work is busy and life is good. Really grateful 💕
