  • I realize I have posted much of this meet to my stories but little to my actual account. I feel I have been waiting to do something 'better' and more deserving of permanence, and have been so focused on outcomes that I've lost sight of the journey a bit.
.
I've never been someone who hits huge PRs out of the blue. My nervous system adapts at a rather sluggish pace, and I do not gain strength rapidly. I never have. The only progress I see is attained through consistent effort over an extended period of time, and sometimes, not even then. I have to just keep chipping away at it. I often feel like I have to fight for every single damn pound. .
Deadlifts were largely a shit show the first 8 weeks of this program. My form was all over the place (still is, really) and I was missing reps left and right. Three weeks out, things finally started to click. Last week I pulled 295 for a triple (first video), thinking it was 305 (gym brain makes plate math difficult). Today I pulled it for 5 (second video), if you consider such long resets one set. I guess it's more of a "cluster." But still a good half step forward. And if you'd told me a few years ago I'd one day be able to move something like 300 pounds around, I would have laughed in your face. .
You can either keep inching closer to your goals, or you can quit, and the latter isn't a good option, so. Keep chipping.
