  • Even after living over 500 miles away for over 7 years, these 4 are still the best friends I will ever have in my life. We argue non stop and purposely push each others buttons continuously, but we laugh until we are sore or in some cases shit our pants. We know more about each other than we know about ourselves. I would be lost without these heathens. Love you boys. #wetwilly #getwild #69thst #wheresyourchick #poisongas #isdiscondoms?

  • Visited Ōkunoshima (island) in Hiroshima. In 1925, the Imperial Japanese Army launched a highly secretive chemical weapons program. The program was so secret that the island was removed from the maps.

広島県にある大久野島を訪れました。1925、旧日本軍は極秘に毒ガス製造が行われてました。そのため戦時中の大久野島は地図から消され1984年に報道されるまで日本軍が毒ガスを製造していた実態は知られませんでした。 from Wikipedia

  • More of our groups spare kit pool.
The German bandolier for our
rifle/carbine users.

Unlike the expensive to produce British version The cheaply mass produced German bandolier was generally a (use once) item.
Worn round the neak as shown the strong cotton canvas bandolier in dull colours could carry 50 rifle rounds. 25 each side. 5 on a stripper clip held in each individual pocket.

They would supplement or substitute the 90 rounds in the mans front belt ammunition pouches. Once the rounds were used in the worn bandoliers the troops generally discarded them there and then.
Thease bandoliers were generally issues prior to and used during major attacks. Sometimes replacing the mens belt ammunition pouches so as to give them greater mobility.
Massed Sturmtruppen attack tactics documented often began with huge swarms of sturmtruppen crawling on their bellies along the shell holled no man's land rifles slung to their backs.
(often in the pitch dark of night). They quickly slithered their way sinisterly up and down the shell craters towards the enemy lines cutting through any wire not previously cleared by artillery or night wire cutting parties.
The enemy front lines all the while suppressed and pinned by the sturmbataillons support weaponry of machine guns, light, heavy and medium morters. Grenade launchers, regimental and divisional artillery. As the massed attack went into motion

Sometimes enemy lines were neutralized with poison gas. So the attacking sturmtruppen obviously attacked in masks with the objective to occupy positions forward of the target positions. (No one wants to occupy gas saturated positions!) All observed closely by overhead aircraft in the day.

So in theory total rifle/carbine rounds carried by each man could be as much as 420 rounds.
250 in his tornista (backpack). 90 in his front waist ammo pouches. 30 in his tunic pockets. And 50 in a bandoiler.
Not practical in assault operations rather follow up advances in relative saftey.

First use of poison gas as a chemical weapon by German soldiers in the Battle of Ypres in Belgium. Both the Central Powers and the Entente developed chemical weapons and used them on the front until the end of the war in 1918.

  • #onthisday April 22nd 1915 1st military use of poison gas (chlorine, by Germany) in WWI⠀
>⠀
Poison gas was probably the most feared of all weapons in World War One. Poison gas was indiscriminate and could be used on the trenches even when no attack was going on.⠀
>⠀
A poison gas attack meant soldiers having to put on crude gas masks and if these were unsuccessful, an attack could leave a victim in agony for days and weeks before he finally succumbed to his injuries.⠀
