  • LuLu's is excited to share that in our effort to be more environmentally conscious, we will be phasing out plastic water bottles and we encourage you to do the same! We will be selling our new signature LuLu's reusable bottles for $30 each at our Alameda location. We are looking so forward to continue reducing, reusing, and recycling! ♻️

Fun fact: Olympic National Park is around 200 sq miles larger Rhode Island.

  • The rainforest is by far the most beautiful biosphere, life is everywhere and thriving. What I love about photographing places like this is it can take you back to the beautiful places we visit where we can mentally take in the rejuvenating air and listen to the calming sounds of water as it flows through the rocks. Also, it’s just flat out beautiful.

  • Microplastic pollution has reached remote glaciers.

For the first time, microplastics have been discovered in remote glaciers in the Alps in Switzerland.

Microplastics have been found in rivers, lakes, oceans, streams, ponds and even in the Arctic, and now researchers from the University of Milan identified microplastics in sediment samples taken from the Forni Glacier which has an elevation of around 12,000 feet.

The samples contained 75 particles and fibers of polyamide, polypropylene, and polyethylene and the researchers say that there could be over 100 million particles in the glacier.

The researchers theorize that at such high elevations, a majority of the particles, especially the plastic fibers, came from hikers and some were carried by the wind from nearby towns and cities.

It would be nearly impossible for hikers and tourists not to shed microplastics as their clothing is specifically designed to withstand cold temperatures and wick away moisture.

The study, which will be presented at the European Geosciences Union conference in Austria later this week, is yet another in a long line of research illustrating how widespread microplastic pollution has become.

In the Pyrenees Mountains in Southern France, researchers recently discovered microplastics were raining down from the sky at a rate of 365 particles per square meter.

  • Hollanda’daki 4. günümüzü Lahey olarak planlamıştık. İnci Küpeli Kız görülecek, ardından şehir gezilecekti. Bir gün öncesinde değerli @hasankardil’in tavsiyesi üzerine rotamızı ülkenin kuzeyinde bulunan ve Hollanda’nın Venedik’i olarak bilinen masalsı köy Giethorn’a çevirdik.
Gezimiz süresince önerilerde bulunan @hasankardil’e(European Tour by Car) teşekkürlerimizi sunarız!

  • The last Hawaiian snail died last year. His name was George. "I know it’s just a snail, but it represents a lot more,” says David Sischo, a wildlife biologist with the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources and coordinator of the Snail Extinction Prevention Program.

Kendi sınırlarımızla dünyayı sınırlamış, çoğunluğun sevgisi peşinde yanlışları doğru saymışız. Mutluluğu kendi içinde aramayanın başka yerde hiç bulamayacağını unutmuş, amaçsızca bir milyon adım yürüp bir minyon umudu yüz üstü bırakmışız.

  • The Andromeda Galaxy. Captured by @DeepSkyColors
⠀
Also known as M31, the nearest large spiral galaxy is a familiar sight with dark dust lanes, bright yellowish core, and spiral arms traced by blue starlight. A mosaic of well-exposed broad and narrow-band image data, this colorful, premier portrait of our neighboring island universe offers strikingly unfamiliar features though, faint reddish clouds of glowing ionized hydrogen gas in the same wide field of view. Still, the ionized hydrogen clouds likely lie in the foreground of the scene, well within our Milky Way Galaxy.
They could be associated with the pervasive, dusty interstellar cirrus clouds scattered hundreds of light-years above our own galactic plane. If they were located at the 2.5 million light-year distance of the Andromeda Galaxy they would be enormous, since the Andromeda Galaxy itself is 200,000 or so light-years across.

  • The beginnings of a colorful life 💫 Native to sandy habitats in the Indo-Pacific Ocean, flamboyant cuttlefish (Metasepia pfefferi) are itsy bitsy little cephalopods, only reaching 3 inches in size. They’re on the small size for cuttlefish, most of which generally reach about 6 to 10 inches. 🐙 @montereybayaquarium calls them “perpetual color machines,” and their mix of pink, yellow, brown and orange colors is, well, adorably flamboyant. 🤩 Despite their unique coloring, they’re remarkably well-camouflaged for their environment, making it easy for people (or predators) to pass them by! 🌊 Video by @sina.joelle 🎥✨
