  • As a general rule, creams and lotions tend to deliver better protection than spray formulations, which most people don't apply enough of to get adequate coverage. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends a "liberal use" of SPF 30 (picture a shot glass full of lotion) for the body, and reapplying every two hours (or after swimming or exercising). For the face, the rule of thumb is one teaspoon of sunscreen to deliver the SPF protection on the package.  It's also important to reapply every two hours to maintain protection.

  • “How come you don’t offer [dermaplaning, micro-needling, lash/brow tints, lash lifts, lancing, etc]? So and so does it down the street!”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Yes, “so and so” might do it down the street, but that doesn’t mean “so and so” is doing it legally. This post isn’t to hash out my fellow esti’s or beauty pros however, it is to inform my clients why I do not offer these services. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
California has a strict labor law against what services Estheticians and Cosmetologists can do legally. Yes, there are many services that are popular right now such as dermaplaning, micro-needling, brow and lash tints or lifts, using lancets, or stronger chemicals. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you do not have the correct licensing/training to do these and are caught offering it, you could either get a big fat fine, or lose your license. Unfortunately, that is just a risk I am not willing to take. Trust me, I would LOVE to offer these treatments right now, and I may not agree with the laws, but I do not want to put myself, my business, and my clients at risk. With patience, I will be able to perform most of these services in a few years when I obtain my RN. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
With all that being said, PLEASE just make sure you are going to someone who is trained and skilled, preferably licensed, to perform these services. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In the meantime, I still love what I do everyday. If you are in need of a great facial, chemical peel, rid your acne, or facial wax.. I’m your gal.

If you didn’t know, I posted day three from the California Coast road trip series on my blog 🚙☀️ This was our longest travel day yet! We traveled from Santa Cruz to Monterey, did the 17-Mile Drive, had lunch in Carmel by The Sea with the most beautiful views, made our way to Big Sur & finally made it to Pismo Beach for the night! Ohhhh the adrenaline from driving the cliffs on this day was intense! Head over to the blog to read, and I promise you’ll LOVE the photos of scenery! Ahhhh California is gorgeous! 🥰
