  • 🇯🇵 During our trip last summer we wanted to do something special with our girls, and Pick a Pearl did not disappoint. The interaction and overall experience was so much fun🤗 ✨The Pick-A-Pearl stand is located in the Mitsukoshi Department Store in the heart of Epcot's Japan Pavilion. The process is easy, fun and makes a great gift. Part of the fun is choosing just the right oyster, and then watching as your pearl is revealed. There is no way to determine in advance what shape, shade, or size your pearl will be, so the surprise is part of the fun of this attraction.
In addition to the cost of the pearl ticket, plan to budget for the jewelry setting if you want to take home a completed piece.

Pick a Pearl steps: ✨Purchase a pearl ticket at any register in the Mitsukoshi Department store. This does not include a setting for your pearl.
✨Select an oyster from one of the two beds at the pearl station. The outer appearance of the oyster does not influence the size, shape, or color of the pearl inside
✨They will cut the oyster open, revealing the pearl. Pearls will vary in size and some oysters might contain twins! ✨The pearl will be cleaned and measured for size, then presented to you. You can select a setting at this time or take your pearl home.

  • We’ve been visiting Hawai’i for a long time, and Hilo Hattie’s has always been a part of my island experience. I remember Daddy taking me for the first time, to pick up a sundress (I had under packed, probably for the last time in my life), and seeing a station in shop where people were opening oysters for pearls. I took Kelsey to Hilo Hattie’s so that I could share my memory, and she decided she wanted to try opening an oyster. She uncovered not one, but TWO pink pearls! Both my inner child and 30 year self are pleased as punch.

  • One of the most unique ways to #LeapIntoDisneyMagic is to truly explore some of the offerings at #Epcot. In the #JapanPavilion, you can #PickAPearl from your very own oyster! The pearl is yours to do with as you please. Leave it loose, add it to jewelry or place it in a pearl cage. Have you done this experience before? • • • • • • •

.
Beri kami dukungan dan doa terbaik. Semoga Allah balas dengan kebaikan berlipat pula. 💜🙏🏻🥰.
.
Terimakasih sahabat setia Kirana.

  • Today is #NationalOysterDay. If I ever tried an oyster I must've been drunk and blocked it out because I dont think I'd ever be brave enough with my texture issues and I'm sure it scarred me enough to the point of forgetting 🤣 so clearly I wont be sharing any restaurants with you that offer any oyster. What I will share is obviously something way more amazing and everyone should do at least once (in each location haha). PICK A PEARL!!! so you go to one of their 4 locations, either at the japan pavilion in epcot, disney springs, typhoon lagoon, or by storm
along bay at the beach and yacht club resorts, and you pick an oyster and see what type of pearl you get!!! I highly recommend trying out the kiosk in japan because they are the best but I've done all 4 and it's always exciting. I'm always on edge hoping I get a larger one or different colored one lile black or pink because it can happen though most often they're white. My mom got a black pearl before at Typhoon lagoon and she made it I to a spider pin. We had ones made I to a simple necklace but I've also had them made I to pins or bracelets for my family. Next time my oldest will get to do this!!! If you want to see a video I've posted one from you tube on my Facebook page@

Pick a pearl - loved this! 🇯🇵

Original text:
“On then to Morocco and then a walk around the old market. Japan was our next port of call. Ben chose an Oyster, had the pearl removed and then it was graded. It was worth three times what he paid for it and measured 7mm in diameter. We also watched the ceremonial beating of drums under the pagoda.”

This is a great tip: visit Japan's shop at Epcot and see the Pearl ceremony (Pick a Pearl) !! It's awesome! You choose one of the shells to buy and get the pearl that comes in it ❤️❤️❤️ There's a ritual that involves the opening of the shell, taking out the pearl, finding out the color and measuring the size of the pearl! The Japanese cast members who work there are great and they make sure to create a special moment for everyone involved! Each shell (one pearl) costs about USD16. You can save the pearl or use it to create a jewel like a ring or a necklace 💍💗 #japan #japao #perolas #pearl #pickapearl #orlandotips #fun #sweet #jewelry #joias #disney #epcot #japanpavillion #tips #dicas

  • Have you ever picked a pearl in Japan? This is our of our favorites stops in World Showcase! The energy around this station is magnetic...not to mention the anticipation of what you’ll get. Be sure to head to the counter to the right and pick out a setting for your pearl! .

  • Has anyone ever done Pick a Pearl at Disney? We loved it! However we bought a pearl cage on Etsy before hand for $10 instead of $50 at the parks!

  • Pearls are produced by some mollusks around an irritant, like a sand grain. The pearl is made up of multiple layers of calcium carbonate (aragonite) platelets that, if thin enough, produce an iridescence like opal or labradorite. I took this photo at one of those "Pick a Pearl" stands. The presence of a pearl is guaranteed--they X-Ray the oysters before selling them.

  • Let me tell you the story of “Pick a Pearl” in the Japan pavilion in Epcot. First of all, if you’re not familiar, the idea is simple—you pick an oyster out of the tank and a cast member cracks it open to reveal your pearl. You pay for the experience and get to take your pearl home with you.
.
The thing is, the Japanese cast members make an ENTIRE SHOW out of every pearl-picking guest. There’s bowing and counting and cheering and drum-playing...and all this attracts a huge crowd. And the pearl-picker is in the center of it all, basically performing.
.
I am comfortable writing on the internet, filming videos, and public speaking—but I do NOT like performing. I absolutely loathe being in any kind of theatrical stage-like spotlight at all. I’ve never been involved in theater of any kind (except for one Christmas pageant; it was a fluke). I just really, really hate performing. I always have.
.
So, when we came to Disney in 2016 and I first discovered Pick a Pearl, I was enamored but mortified at the thought of being in the middle of a whole performance. In 2017, I tried three times to “get over myself” and do it, but ultimately chickened out.
.
But. TODAY I DID IT! I picked a pearl! My word for 2018 is assurance and I’m working hard on moving through life with steadfastness and assurance—in little and big situations. Picking a pearl is a silly little thing, but a big win for me!
.
And wouldn’t you know it? The oyster I picked had a super rare silver pearl inside! The woman who opened it for me (and put on the whole show) said that just five percent of oysters have silver pearls.
.
I cried real tears when we walked away from the counter. What a neat experience! Something so little and insignificant but precious to me. I had the pearl mounted on a pendant so I can wear it around my neck and remember the day I finally picked my pearl! #pickapearl #epcot #assurance
