Title: Fiery Habanero Mustard Sauce
Company: Caulfield Provision Company
Description: Golden in color and fiery in nature, our premier mustard sauce will ignite your palate and bring your recipes soaring to new heights. Try in egg salad for a totally unique twist or go safe on hot dogs and burgers. Great for pretzel dipping!
Ingredients: Double Filtered Water, Distilled Vinegar, Habanero Chilies, Carrots, Honey, Mustard Powder, Garlic, Sea Salt.
Smell: The sauce has a unique aroma because unlike most sauces, every ingredient in the bottle hits the aroma senses at the exact same time. All at once you can pick up the Habanero peppers as they bring that sweet, fruity, citrusy, pepper-forward aroma, then you have the Mustard Powder delivering that classic tangy and savory aroma, while the Honey brings out a nice sweetness. Towards the back of the sauce, you can pick up notes of the Garlic and a very slight hit of the zippiness of vinegar but its not overly strong in terms of the aroma.
Pour: The sauce is on the thin side, but there are small chunks mixed in with the thinness of the sauce. The liquid is mostly the water and vinegar, while the chunks are the physical ingredients.
Taste: First off, the taste of the sauce was very unexpecting. The moment the sauce hits your mouth you get almost a honey mustard sort of flavor as you get a nice bite of sweetness coming from the honey, but you are also getting that savory tangy flavor of the mustard, all the while the habanero pepper is complimenting the sweetness and then shifting gears to a more savory and tangy mustard sauce. The carrots add some depth and body to the sauce while the garlic helps compliment the savory flavors. The vinegar is noticeable and compliments the mustard and habanero flavor. My only real complaint is that I am not too fond of the mouthfeel in certain situation, as the leftover physical ingredients turn into mush on the mouth, but its not super noticeable. This would be awesome as a condiment or dipping sauce. I would give this a 9/10 on flavor.
